The DC characters was all nice encountering the MK characters while the MK characters was hostile encountering the DC characters.
Kind of fits how both brands are proceived by the public really. MK is seen as THAT violent not safe for work ip that's fairly mainstream while DC is easily approachable by the masses as that alternative brand to marvel and is very mainsteam so it plays things alot more safe.
The muthafuggas would literally ripped their opponents head out with the spine still attached for shits and giggles and you are now noticing how hostile they are ???

I wouldn't be surprised if WB made NRS contractually obliged to depict the DC side a certain way. I remember seeing somewhere that they had to tone down fatalities with the reasons being that Warner Bros did not want the DC characters involved in the gore fest that makes MK iconic.

Catwoman not being able to stop herself from running into the portal is something I still think about to this day. XD
I think it would've been more believable if it had been randomly opened while she was facing the direction the portal opened, and she wasn't as far away when it opened.

The best thing about this game is I can't tell if this game is Ironically or unironically funny. Between Wonder Women's reactions to everything, Liu Kang's sudden change in mood when talking to Sonya, and pretty much everything with Joker, the cutscenes are an absolute joy to watch. But I can't tell if it was supposed to be like that, or if the bad writing became comedy gold after years of my brain being melted by Gen Z humor
I think the Joker was on purpose, but everything else was just screwed up so bad it’s hilarious

Not really? Mortal Kombat would never fade into non-existence given that it's one of the most popular fighting game franchises of all time. I don't think we needed a mediocre game like MKvsDC for the franchise to eventually come back.

Mortal Kombat isn't some niche franchise from the 90s that faded into obscurity, it's literally one of the most popular and recognizable fighting game franchise in gaming history. So again, we didn't need a mid game like MK vs DC for the franchise to bounce back.

As goofy as it was, I did like some of the design choices for Kitana and Sub-Zero. Kitana’s outfit was pretty and I like how Sub-Zero’s scarred eye was frozen (and his frozen arms).

There could've been really interesting ideas like:
- Shao and Darkseid change places instead of instantly fusing and both conquer each others realm
-Batman and Scorpion partner and Scorpion learns to not let his vengeace blind him, not leting it go, the last boss of his chapter will be quan chi and he spares him because they need him to stop Shao and Darkseid but will kill him when it's over
-Raiden and Shazam: Billy could learn to be more responsible and raiden starts taking decisions without the elder gods

Shao wouldn't make it past any opposition in Apokolips let alone the heavy hitters in DC and Darkseid would just destroy anything in his path if he isn't imprisoned by the Elder Gods

Just wanna point out that Wonder Woman should be able to solve one of the main problems in this story easily: The lasso of truth breaks possession and erases illusions.
As soon as she lands a grab on any opponent who's fighting her because of that, then it's over. They're cured. Then she can just go around lassoing anyone with yellow eyes. Problem solved.
But nah, like it so often gets used for, it's just a regular ol' rope in this game.

Literally everyone: BY THE ELDER GODS.
The cringe (oh I’m sorry rAgE) is such a random element as well. I feel like it was only introduced so that good guys who don’t usually resort to violence or bad guys who are more level-headed would easily start fighting thus creating drama and prolonging the story.
It also popped up at the most random times. Yes most of the the times someone would get really angry, but other times a person would be fine and then just Hulk out.
It is still amazing that this game even happens, what a weird crossover! I'm glad that it exists to make vids like this for being played straight and hilarious. Weird also not to have Kevin Conroy or Mark Hamill.
Weren't they busy voicing their respected characters for Batman: Arkham Asylum? I mean, that game was likely still being developed when MK vs DC came out in '08, and wouldn't drop until '09.

The story's idea is pretty good, Shao Kahn and Darkseid, great conquerors fusing to become a horrifying creature of destruction called Darkkahn is a pretty good idea. And it has some pretty good story beats, if only it didn't meander around so much

I don't know why the DC characters acted like they didn't fight worse threats than Dark Kahn and they were much far superior than the Mortal Kombat characters.
To be fair, half of the mortal kombat team use magic, which would drain Superman's powers.

Still though, I don't see how Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman are so weak.

The Mortal Kombat characters would destroy the DC ones. You're forgetting that Shang Tsung can just take their souls and all the characters have something to spam at you. I'd like to see Deathstroke deal with Scorpion setting the ground on fire.

Even though MK vs DC was Midway's fault, it's pretty hard to deny that the seeds of Netherealm's storytelling grew from this game's existence, and somehow none of it's problems were ever fixed, or at least not really.

I believe Kronika was probably seeing through different universes she thought could coexist with the MK universe but scrapped all them due to the differences this a good theory she tried to make a perfect timeline but all were failures I really don't know how Armageddon is a failure though.

The story feels like someone had these really cool ideas about what certain characters from these universes would do if they met with each other, but they were rushing through the story just to get to those moments

20:33 it's the same thing they did in MK11 when Sonya lost her gauntlets in-cutscene so she lost those moves. Didn't know it went all the way back to Midway.
They didn't do this in MK9 though, when Stryker lost his gun, and when Kabal dropped his hookswords on the ground. They also could've locked off some of Kabal's moves in that same MK11 fight like his Nomad Dash.
I believe in all the trillions of timelines Kronika has created she knows about the Marvel, Street Fighter, Tekken and Killer Instinct universes and made timelines revolving around the Mortal Kombat characters going toe to toe with said universes plenty of times she somehow knew of the DC characters and she did say she lost count of how many timelines she created so it's obvious she knows other universes the DC Universe is just one of them she probably made the Mortal Kombat characters go up against Dragonball Z characters in a timeline but of course we will never know.

The thing that made me lose it was was when Raiden said that they challenged the DC characters to Mortal Kombat. That made me absolutely laugh so much 😂😅 people really suck at writing Raiden’s character.
His eyes aren't even yellow, so combat rage can't be the reason.
I get the sense someone on the writing team thought that was a clever line, having an MK character title drop their franchise to the DC charaters, but given the context of when it was said, it was the worst line in the entire story mode.
