I think monsters are going to get more dynamic weakness zones in this. When the trailer is showing off Focus Mode it states that it highlights wounds AND weak spots and we can see the inside of the Chatacabra's mouth seems to be highlighted when its tongue is out. This could mean that monsters expose weak spots during certain attacks and we can capitalize on that

Also Ruri of you read this I hope this makes a feel a little less bad about sharpening on your Seikrat. The devs did state that this game had it's world pinned against you to the max. Especially if your hunting a monster in a pack like dosha or bhara you probably won't get an opening without getting carted. Also, the Seikrat is strutting heck a slow when sharpening probably to balance it out. When you begin your quest the scout flies take you in a general location not he exact location because you don't see the monster's icon. Then when you see the hunter get close the monster icon pops up. You might have to gather tracks to progress your bar and then the court fly reveals the location

The Wyrmstake that's put into Chatacabra doesn't come from the barrel like it usually does, but instead from the break-action chamber! 2 things that I think are possible:
    a) You can't sharpen/consume items on a running Seikret... only a walking one
    b) You can't direct a Seikret if you're sharpening or consuming items.
Both still give you a more reliable way to run away from a fight and restock/heal/craft/collect etc. than in World/Iceborne, which I'm kinda divided on, coz on the one hand it helps to avoid stuff like Deviljho during farming monsters, but on the other hand, running away feels like breaking the dance with the monster that is the game.
Hopefully you can't both sharpen and run on a Seikret tho, that would make it too easy, and probably then require balancing fights on the fact that you can run away... which would be fine if its like a special pursuit attack, but if they get like HP/Atk buffed and stuff for balancing I wouldn't like it that much since I don't like running away and don't want my life to become much harder coz I am not running away everytime I am low on healing or need a sharpen.

Ruri. I personally never call my mount to just sharpen. That takes extra time and button presses. I understand your sentiment. But I feel like this mount and sharpen feature is really for newcomers/novice players. Cuz I sure won't do it when I can simply either flash the monster or do it when the monster isn't looking at me. Or locked in animation. I don't think this ride while sharpen takes away from the game. Because heck, really, I use the mount sharpen in between the monster swapping area. While also re applying buffs. 👌🏾

This was a nice surprise to wake up to 2day

  • @Zulban48
    @Zulban48 Месяц назад +1

I mentioned this elsewhere but not only does sharpening take the same amount of whetstone strokes, but they removed the part at the end with the hunter admiring their newly sharpened weapon before putting it away, so it's even less punishing than before even without the Seikret mount. In my eyes this is similar to removing the arm flex after drinking a potion. It removes a bit of the MH charm in favor of more fluid gameplay.
Being able to trigger environmental stuff without using slinger ammo is a great addition for me. Sometimes I'd have a flash bomb or similar loaded and if I wanted to drop a stalactite I'd need to either use the flash bomb to do it or spend time trying to load different ammo and likely lose the opportunity I had.
Regarding the monster charging you being 'slow'... it makes sense, considering Chatacabra is likely going to be a "low tier" monster. You don't introduce monster charging attack mechanics to a new hunter by throwing them against a Tigrex or Diablos, that's what monsters like this and Barroth are for. If people want to see a monster doing very fast attacks then you should look at tougher monsters, not what could be this game's equivalent of Great Jaggi.
Immediately after you talk about this you realize that the hunter is doing a charge attack and turning completely around. This is very likely what the developers meant when they were saying things like 'focus mode will allow new hunters have an easier time with the game' or whatever wording they used, as now you won't get punished as hard for starting an attack facing the wrong direction. I main lance and being able to readjust even 5 degrees to either side is going to be a huge game changer, let alone 180 degrees (even better if it allows us to poke straight upwards, but I doubt it).
The Charge Blade gets a really cool sliding slash attack that ends in a guard point, it would be cool if the SnS got something similar to that now because that's what that attack reminds me of minus the guard point. The 'strafing to the left' reminds me of the fade slashes with longsword. I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. A little dodge roll/hop with damage added in. It's very likely an attack added for focus mode to let you reposition around a monster while still aiming at it.

When it comes to sharpening while mounted, I just ask the question, "does this break my immersion" and it absolutely does not. If this was a movie, and I watched the character kneel down in front of a monster to sharpen their weapon, only to get smacked, I'd be yelling "why the fuck didn't he just get on his mount while doing that?!" Because it's the obvious thing to do. So because of that, if they want to have a mount, I think they have to let you do it.

      @diegob1600 Месяц назад

monster hunter definitely hasn’t put immersion before all if we’re being honest. they’ve moved towards it with world and now wilds but rise was the game to introduce mounted sharpening and it was meant to be quality of life to match the pace of the game even if it sacrificed difficulty. there’s a lot more that goes into this game’s design in regards to balancing rather than focusing purely on immersion

It looks like using that focus attack on wounds, also removes the wound. I think you can see a wound on the back leg still of the last clip, yet the one hit disappeared. If that's the case, it better do a shit ton of damage to make it worth getting it removed. Or maybe the wound goes away after a certain amount of time/damage done to it. So it's worth using a special focus attack towards the end of the wound being there

I definitely agree with the concerns that certain actions, such as sharpening while mounted, could trivialize some aspects of the game. I'm still pretty iffy on the ability to walk while healing. Having to learn the recovery time on a monster's attacks and when to take advantage of them to heal while stood in place felt like a big part of learning fights. Even with how slowly you walk while healing, it is enough to dodge many attacks and feels silly when you just slowly step out of the way of impending doom while nonchalantly chugging a potion. Definitely not a deal-breaker though, this game looks amazing

Part of the skill of a weapon I felt in previous MH games was your positioning because of the limited movement once you started attacking. This focus mode allowing you to easily direct your attack (for example doing a complete 180 while charging the GS) definitely makes it more accessible, but I feel like it also hurts the integrity of the weapon skill... I'm all for making things more accessible, and I don't want to come off as gatekeeping, but idk, just worried this might be a step far because it takes away how the weapons felt and what they required of the player to make the most out of them.

I agree about the GS stuff. Not upset that they're trying to make it better/ more accessible, but for me it feel like they're taking away a little bit of the charm and skill of the weapon. Also worried it's going to make true charge slash not as satisfying because it will be easier to do. In the end, I think it will be fine and it's just me being an old head about it

The level of detail is so impressive. When the hunter drinks a potion, you can see the green liquid shacking inside the glass...

I also do not like instant crafting "in combat." ( can be instant outside )
And i play LBG and HBG. There should be some risk to crafting items or ammo in combat. Have the hunter stop, kneel down, do a little animation or longer animation depending on amount, then stand back up when finished.

I would normally be a bit annoyed at being able to sharpen so fast on seikret, but I doubt that capcom would add such a mechanic without giving monsters tools to counter it. Maybe I'm wrong but this isn't the rise team

I'm sure it's been mentioned here before, but just in case I came at the right time. I absolutely appreciate the attention to detail, when it comes to the potion or mega potion, you can see the Hunter actually drink it, and the potion depletes when empty. I love that Detail!

The primary weapon is what you are carrying/using and secondary is on your mount until you swap. They said that later on there will be systems that you unlock related to the weapon swap so maybe some skills buff your secondary weapon only or something. Or a skill that is like the swap scrolls skills, where it has 2 different effects based on what weapon slot you're using.
I would appreciate it if some environmental traps are you have to shoot them with slinger ammo or use the hook slonger, not you can just use either of them to trigger it.
Focus mode is optional for the wounds, to see them or use the focus attacks on them, but it letting you aim is what has me interested. Hopefully some moves that only hit a certain way can be changed with aiming. Think like ls final spirit slash where you aim higher to not hit the feet or lance high thrust aiming low to hit a like balahara or snake wyvern tail that's too low for the high thrusts that are your bread and butter combo. Also, multiple wounds on the monster at once so players in a team can each make them and not fight over them as much.
We don't need a boomerang attack, we need najarala and tidal back so tidal can have his bouncing water shots.
Focus mode putting the red glow on the wounds is from the ground up accessibility built into the wounding system. As someone with not the best eyesight, I love this.
You can hear the wyrmstake ticks, so it's not wyrmstake blast. I do agree, they should have spent the axtra second to show the entire animation with it exploding.
That's proably the hbg focus attack.

You could aim your guards in world too, you just press the other trigger while guarding and your hunter will turn to face the direction of your camera. It's pretty handy when you need to swing your guard all the way around.

It’d be awesome if they were able to incorporate hitzone values into the creation of weak points.
Consecutive hits on the head generate a weak point, but consecutive hits with a blunt weapon create a more potent weak point. Same goes for weak points on the tail with severing weapons
All weapons benefit from the stronger weak points. I think that would incentivize more variety in what you bring to a hunt

I agree about it requiring more skill to sharpen in combat, but I actually propose the question of "does it natter?"
How often, outside of your first few low rank monsters, do you actually NEED to sharpen while in the fight vs doing it between the monster moving locations? They've given so many ways to handle sharpness & handicraft from even a bit later low rank these last few games that it's not really an issue anymore

I know the sharpen topic is an opinion, but there is one very specific point that I think is important to consider:
In every monster hunter game before World, you could easily just run to a different section of the map mid fight and sharpen your weapon with absolutely no worry, because each section is separated by loading screens.
TLDR: Sharpening weapons has never actually been hard or about skill at all.

7:35 Sharpening mid fight does take a little bit of skill but for most weapons it's not at the forefront of concern. It most likely is for Ruri because Gun-Lance is probably the weapon that loses sharpness the fastest along with dualblades dropping from purple to blue in a flash whereas many other weapons take 3 times as long to lose the same. Also since World speed sharpen has been super easy it slot in
