I like the Lari Basilio signature with the HSS and trem configuration. I hope that they bring that to the normal range. Not that I'll be able to afford it anyway but I like it
One thing is certain, Ibanez will do it right. They always seem to hit it out of the park. (Even though I wish they had RGs with a fat neck). Unless they already do?
Lets see... We will introduce new variations of the same theme and do it for $2,000.00 to $2600.00 during a pandemic, high unemployment and soon to be one of the worst economies for some time? Smart, really smart.

honestly, not really! Not because there aren't any (I'm sure there are!) but I learned funk way before I was serious about books! I just listened to a bunch of funk music and learned it - go learn Tower of Power's Down To The Nightclub!
As an AZ user, I'm pretty excited about these T-shaped variations. I'd probably go for the flamed or quilted top. I guess I just need to save up some money now haha.
I've been waiting for a single cut AZ since the line came out. I actually like the mini humbucker on the neck, since I couldn't care less about maintaining traditions, I'm fine with the headstock and the curved control plate. I'm not sold on the finishes, i would like a butterscotch or white 24 fret versions and i would probably slap a hot rail on the bridge. But anyway, I'm glad this line is a thing now
I'd like the AZ 2209H, but I don't like the control plate. I could over look the pickguard. The AZ2200 Black or AZ2200Q Blue models are nice looking, but I don't use the the tremelo system either.
Neck's a little thin and narrow. I won't be using a trem. Control plate is fabulous. Remove the bridge pickup without removing the bridge... pathetic that Fender couldn't figure that one out in what's approaching a century. For the money it needs stainless frets and a 9-1/2 to 12 compound radius. Electronics may be to complicated... I don't know. Probably to expensive for me. All in all though, you'd have to have never had a tele not to see how this is a vast improvement on the extreemly lazy holders of the original design. I tip my hat to Ibanez. Bout time.
I’m sorry to say but for myself I much better like a Godin style telecaster, look beautiful, has top quality finish and ergonomic fantastic as well. Sound quality top one! Check out Godin guitars.
Played one yesterday. The trem is bizarre. Decked with 5 (yes 5!) screws. You have to practically sit on the trem bar to get it to move. Totally pointless IMO. Great guitar otherwise.
Really glad they changed the pickups - the Hyperion sound is kinda fizzy for a Tele. The neck stability is a huge plus for this line - hold my credit card 😐
They will probably play good but I think they dropped the ball, I think they could have done a better design, I've been waiting for this cus I love teles but I seen other companies do better tele variations.
I've gone through so many different, conflicting emotions watching this. *Ahem* 'Wot, Ibanez, Telecaster?Did I hear that right? To WOT? JOSH SMITH, Playing... Ibanez?! To Wow, that's definitely.. Something.. To, oh, badass, they've actually made this in an Ibanez way, with the easy access neck joint, the extra switch and the Seymour Duncans, that makes sense. In all seriousness, it looks kinda weird, but in an aesthetically pleasing way? Not sure if that makes sense. I can also appreciate the Ibanez-y things they've done to it. I can honestly imagine it becoming one of those quriky guitars, that catches a pulse for something tele players want but didn't realise they did. Very, very cool! Hope you're doing well Levi, all the best to you and yours! ✌😊
I'm a huge fan of Ibanez's F series (the Tele-esque single cut). I was sad to see that it was discontinued for this year, but now that these are announced I think they're a great addition.
Does the bridge plate really make that much difference? I have a blackguard Salën, it still manages that nasal quack, and can also produces a sound that reminds me of some old Led Zep, I haven't got a proper Tele at the mo to compare them. I'm aware that the plate affects the magnetic flux of the pickup...
I have been wanting a tele style guitar, but really was put off by no belly cut and no forearm contour. this may fit the bill, the cost will be problematic.. since the prestige guitars are expensive!
Some awesome stuff in the new line-up from Ibanez, I've been fancying an AZ for quite some time, and they go and bring out the RG565 Re-issue and now these! The AZ-S solves every issue I had with my Fender Tele, I just can't get on with the slab body being a strat-style guy. Gonna be an expensive year
I was planning on buying a Fender Telecaster, either a Player Series or a Vintera 60's modified, since last year. But now I really want to try and maybe buy one of these.
I was hoping these to be a bit more traditional in looks. But I absolutely love the specs of these. Now I'm just waiting (and hoping) that they will release some cheaper options of these in the Premium line.
As cool as these are I really wish they’d have also made the Talman more widely available, always thought it was a really cool take on a guitar with a Tele layout and a roasted maple neck would just be the icing on the cake.
TELECASTER?? It's crazy that nobody realizes that the AZS is just a FR with "AZ" treatment .. the FR has always been a weak contender in Ibanez's catalog, so now the rebranded it as the AZS... pure marketing, fellas
@@jukruhar94 the azs has a horn like an FR but haunches is like the telman. the parts are of course completely different. it's like comparing a squire to a fender based on shape.
These look great and I'm sure they'll be just as popular as the AZ but I really don't know why they decided not to offer a single coil neck pickup version. That's a deal breaker for me and possibly others.
Glad to hear about your admiration for the "humbler"... I admire Ibanez and I have no problem with these guitars visually... Be interested to play one.
