Got an Az premium a few months ago, absolutely worth it imo. Very versatile and comfortable guitar. I can get my hendrix on, switch to polyphia, then switch to john mayer, then switch to metallica and it all sounds convincing
Great to see Lee Wrathe, and you can see how much fun Pete has playing with someone on his level. The Guitar Paradiso episodes he did with Ariel Posen are my favorites.
It's amazing that 4 guitars, T, S, LP, 335, that were invented 60+ years ago, are still the basis/and or reference for all guitars still made today!! Well done Leo and Ted!! 8) JMHO --gary
Love Lee's playing. We all know he can shred like a demon but he has so much more to his playing. Andertons can you please kidnap him from Ibanez and keep him as a presenter. Him & Pete on more videos would be highly popular I think.
Simply fantastic playing gentlemen! After an extended illness, I lost my beloved "Fender American Telecaster HS" with 5-way switching in gorgeous chrome red. Fender apparently no longer makes that design anymore and this new Ibanez is the closest thing that I have seen to it (at twice the price! 😮) I really love the versatility of having the traditional single coil pup in the bridge for the traditional "Tele-twang" and the hummer in the neck for more mellow, jazzy tones. I am enrolling in music school to study"Jazz Guitar" and I plan on this being my "at home" axe. For lugging back and forth to class, I'm getting an Ibanez semi chilli word Fender Jazzmaster. Take it E-Z! 😎
I really dig the hardtailed version. I think it is because of the ash body. Sounds fantastic. Wasn't really a fan of the az line but this tele is very cool.
Getting hooked on Tele's.... I'm 64 and had avoided Tele's my whole life. To me they were as Brad Paisley described "a cutting board with Electronics". They were boring and simple in design and execution, basic colors with plain white or black pickguards. Then one day... I found a Tele that wasn't quite so boring. It was a 60's Baja Classic in a traditional Sunburst and while it still wasn't an eye catching beautiful guitar, it looked like more than a cutting board, so I bought it. Well, I quickly discovered the "Tele" Tone. From there, I bought an Art Style Boutique Tele and now... I have 5 Tele's in different iterations such as a Semi Hollow with P90's, a Semi Hollow with Mini Humbucker in the Bridge position and even a cherry burst, double bound Tele that I customized by installing Gretsch Blacktop Filtertrons. I've discovered that it's a very versatile guitar and Tele's are now my favorite. Go figure lol
I bought a tele after playing a whole bunch of guitars in a shop and deliberately ignoring the Telecasters because I never thought I like the look or sound. I thought 'may as well try one' and when I did I instantly loved it. Had it now for about 23 years.
I was sooooo excited when Ibanez announced these guitars, but was heart broken when the neck pickup tones was just set for humbuckers. I really love the sound of a tele single coil neck pickup and how it clashes with the bridge's sting. Hopefully, when the premiums come out, they will have a single neck pup tone option. If they do that, it's an instant buy for me. Love the AZ Strat they released and I know I'd love their AZ Tele, for sure!
Why would anyone choose to put a humbucker in the neck position of a guitar that traditionally has as single coil? Its like saying you want you food with all the best parts taken out and replaced with raw chicken.
That Ibanez T style guitar is awesome and wow how has no one else curved that knob plate until now , I like the one Pete starts off jamming on. I’ve never had that traditional T style bridge though but I’m sure I could get use to it and it has been around forever so it has to atleast work pretty good lol
I had the THBB10 for about 2 + years or so, but I just traded it for an FSR midnight telecaster earlier this week. And as much as I thought I loved the AZ, as soon as I finally felt and played “the right” telecaster, nothing I’ve ever had holds a candle
It's funny how different we all are. To me a really good tele neck pickup is maybe my favorite pickup of all time. Good on Ibanez coming up with a truly unique guitar for their range
What a great performance Thanks to Lee and Pete 👍🏻 Wonderful looking, wonderful Sounding guitars😍 I am going for one 🙏🏻 Now I gratefully forget about Z
Hand down the best guitar brand in 2021! Never been a big fan of fender strata cuz I played Tele’s for the last 26 years until I purchased that blue AZ from a demo that Pete and Rabea did a few months ago! I was able to get the best strat sound I’ve been looking for in a years using a Marshall plexi! I’m willing to pay $1990 for a Japanese guitar cuz they are built with a lot of care..
Not a year later I stopped by the Sweetwater site this am. The cheapest AZS was $1,999.00. They have plenty of them - unusual nowadays when most interesting guitars are out of stock. Taken what's happening in the World right now I doubt they are going to fly off the shelves... Best, Pete.
And to think that earlier today I was daydreaming about a T style guitar with a mini humbucker at the neck and a stacked single coil at the bridge. It seems like Ibanez has gone most of the way towards that but way out of my price range.
Capt Pete You gents ok?👍 Haven’t had the time to watch y’all lately but I’ve never seen you go 3 days without a video Hope everyone is well. Y’all stay cool 😎 🎸🎸🎸👀😀🙃🎸
Holy Smokes! That blue one is just gorgeous. Wish I could get the Prussian Blue on with a trem; would be different from what I have access to and I'm not a huge fan of the flamed and quilted or plain black. Hmmm.....
Nice playing! Man.. I've always wanted Ibanez guitar and I ordered myself Q54QM! I can't wait for it in 2022! Can you review the headless guitar from Ibanez or did I miss the review?
Nice guitars but then everything in the $1500 and up range is nice. These are more than double that so they should be nice! Thanks for an awesome demo as usual gents!
I’m betting the real reason for the separate plate for the bridge pickup is so that they can use the same part on both the hard-tail and the wiggle stick versions.
Great guitars and great playing but I think Ibanez went a bit crazy with the price they are asking now. I hope they will make an entry level version (a bit like their GIO lineup).
You could try an FGN Iliad; they are a third of the price, made in Japan in the same factory that makes (or used to make) a lot of Ibanez's top guitars.
It's good when Ibanez bring out more traditional styles instead of the usual metal look, that's why I bought the Talman when it came out. These look ok but if you're spending a grand you might as well get a Fender Tele?
I’ve toyed with buying an AZ on and off for about 2 years now, and I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger.
I bought on impulse a premium HH az but didn’t like it that much, really nice neck carve but I don’t love the Hyperions, too much output, and there’s something hollow to the sound, I don’t know if it is the basswood body.
Is the mini humbucker actually a Firebird PU? A Firebird PU has a 2 blade style magnets. One in each coil where as true humbucker is one large magnet lying flat under both coils. Firebird PU's pickup the sound in a similar way as a Fender with 6 separate magnets.
Got an Az premium a few months ago, absolutely worth it imo. Very versatile and comfortable guitar. I can get my hendrix on, switch to polyphia, then switch to john mayer, then switch to metallica and it all sounds convincing
I was literally wondering "yea but can it do polyphia" so glad thats sorted :)
Great to see Lee Wrathe, and you can see how much fun Pete has playing with someone on his level. The Guitar Paradiso episodes he did with Ariel Posen are my favorites.
He’s flogging that big time, fair play
I loved those Ariel videos too. He's Fantabulous! However, it must be said the Lee's playing has improved significantly!
It's amazing that 4 guitars, T, S, LP, 335, that were invented 60+ years ago, are still the basis/and or reference for all guitars still made today!! Well done Leo and Ted!! 8) JMHO --gary
And the SG
@@pablo9364 I thought about that, still a double cut (S type) just with HB's?? Good thought though! I was born between the T and S. LOL 8) --gary

Y’all, that ending jam was something else! Fun to watch Lee and Pete play

I had to listen to the outro jam several times, pure magic.
That opening jam was smooooooooooth! I am not a fan of T style guitars BUT this has made me want one of these beauties.
Best play out/ jam towards the end of the video! best of the year! hybrid pickin' and cool licks!

Same here bro…. I hated teles, I only played Gibson LP and other Gibson stuff, but now a telecaster is usually my go to….
Teles got soul.
could listen to you two jam all day!

@@sacredgeometry well i mean 70s teles always have humbuckers in the neck and deluxes do too. I would prefer to have the single coil too tbh
They already have the Josh Smith sig. with classic tele configuration.
@@sacredgeometry Why don't you ask keith richards are the thousand other players who hot rodded their teles?
What I don't understand is why no-one has made five string tele yet. They could call it the KR or the Keef.

What an incredible Jam, my favourite in some time !
If there’s an Ibanez video from Andertons, I’m clicking.
If there’s an Ibanez video from Andertons and Lee Wrathe is there, I’m clicking faster!

Agreed
Love the jam! What artists play music like that, I want to hear more.
Love the JAM, 2 GREAT MUSICIANS!
WOW !!!
A guitarist with some jazzy-fusion chops on Andertons!
A welcome bit of variation to the "bluesrock or metal" template.
What a great performance
Thanks to Lee and Pete 👍🏻
Wonderful looking, wonderful Sounding guitars😍

have been looking forward to this video since these released! look so good honestly, now just waiting for the budget version
Love to see Lee Wrathe at Andertons:)
That was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Cool mellow Jam!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing..... I love this!
Cool guitars. I really like semi-vintage looking guitars that manage to sneak in near little innovations.
''Bacon Space'', legend!! I'm using that from now on :D
Finally! Been waiting to see these.
but a lot of us love the tele single coil neck pickups 😭
sorry, but not allowed any longer.
Yep. There's just something eargasmic about a tele neck pup.
That’s why I bought the red Noventa
Said it before, would love to hear Pete jamming with Larry Carlton or Robben Ford!
i like this guy, have him and Pete more!
These guitars are super super cool!
They look great. Look forward to trying one out
Hi guys, have this crazy idea, wouldn't it be nice to have a limited run japanese squiers a la '80s? Them would sell well
It's a good thing Pete was holding two guitars when Lee said the tele neck pickup was weak!!😠
it's about time; finally the music-man/suhr collaboration no one asked for. LOL!
Amen.... two awesome players.
One request. Please bring back the headstock of the roadstar guitars. And on bass those heart shaped tuners...
First time I'm impressed by an Ibanez that's not lawsuit era.
These things are sweet
Cool Jams ... awesome guys
Not sure what to think about a ibenez tele being a traditional fender telecaster guy. But dang these things are so good I'm starting to want one
Still got my Ibanez Jet King. Love that guitars sound and looks.

haha they both have the same humor, really enjoyable, playing was amazing too I love those chromatic jazzy blues stuff
It kills me that Pete uses the words “hum” and “bugger” when referring to the humbucker. 😂
Great demos, gents.
Makes sense too - in Danish, a 'ck'/'kk' sound resembles a 'gg'.
what a amazing jam
Pretty well every mod you'd want to modernize a Tele. Thanks for the demo.
Ooooohhhhh....! And another guitar I want that's way out of my price range... 🙄 A couple of those riffs gave me chills! 😁👍

A Larry Charltonesque opening jam!!

I’m betting the real reason for the separate plate for the bridge pickup is so that they can use the same part on both the hard-tail and the wiggle stick versions.

Could $2k be the problem. I know I ask myself "Why 2k" all the time, when I'm looking at the AZ 2204.
It’s not just that…but if they were £500 cheaper I’d probably own one 😂
I tried a 2204 once…just missing something. Left with a AmPro2 strat instead.
I bought on impulse a premium HH az but didn’t like it that much, really nice neck carve but I don’t love the Hyperions, too much output, and there’s something hollow to the sound, I don’t know if it is the basswood body.
There the Lexus of T types! A Toyota in fancy dress with extra bits!?
Have you reviewed the Ibanez AZ242SFM ?? Where can I watch?
Is this guitar suitable for post rock and ambient rock?
Is the mini humbucker actually a Firebird PU? A Firebird PU has a 2 blade style magnets. One in each coil where as true humbucker is one large magnet lying flat under both coils. Firebird PU's pickup the sound in a similar way as a Fender with 6 separate magnets.
The bridge design is better because you can replace the pickup without having to remove the whole bridge.
So besides the fancy neck wood, why is the price what it is
Hot damn, I love Tele’s and T-style guitars; I want an Ibanez now; the one Pete player is so damn sexy looking, and sounds Rad
If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would have watch an Ibanez guitar video with interest, I would have laugh 😂 !!!! But here we are today 🤭
Nice playing gentlemen and review. Sorry, I'll stick to my Fender tele and Reverend Trickshot.
