It's fair to say that the Fender Player Plus is the Mexican counterpart to the American Ultra and that the Fender Player is the Mexican counterpart to the American Professional. So how does the Player Plus compare to the Player, and is new always better? Do modern features make a guitar better? Or does it simply make it different? Watch as Lee and Pete shootout the Player Plus against the Player series and discuss whether or not modern is better than traditional.

the 4K is so good that the backdrop looks more real the the actual room! nice Teles too
Oh shoot hi Landon!!
What is 4k?
You da man Landon! Keep up the awesome work love your fender videos are my fav
Yeah, I've only got one Tele.
Hmmm. . .
what about the teles...??
Awesome video!
Toss me a fender dude
Bro, I need u
I totally agree with Lee that the Player Plus tele with those noiseless pickups sounds much fuller and in my estimation somewhat more dynamic than the Player tele. Also the Player Stratocaster definitely sounded better than the Player Plus with the noiseless pick ups. Like Pete indicated it was almost like the Stratocaster Player Plus pick ups are lower output.
I've followed this channel for awhile and the Capt's playing has improved so immensely it's really good to see his hard work paying off and his passion to continue learning
It really has good on him for getting after!!
I think The Captain has been getting tips from our favourite Danish viking
@@markgowans I love danish Pete he’s been such a nice addition to the andertons channel he’s just full of good vibes :)
Are these just meme comments now or sincere?
@@larsheuker I mean it. Hes gotten way way better and seemingly more comfortable on the fret board. Damn I sound like a know it all douche 😬
From a regular player's point of view here's mine. I've owned one of the later "Player" series Strats (the HSH, a real sleeper).
The difference in the neck, frankly is not really much different - except for the radius and overall width. My Player Strat is satin finished on the back and at first glance it's hard to tell the difference in the two - we're talking minor differences particularly when it comes to the edge shapes.
The bridge on the Strat Player Plus is much easier on my hands and therefore better.
I can say that the pick ups are not really comparable (at least on mine). I genuinely, really like the pick ups on the HSH. The humbuckers are a design of Tim Shaw and although they look like Gibson type humbuckers they sound nothing like them, they sound like a Fender but bigger.(!) There is also something else that is interesting - apart from the 5 way switch there are no other switches on the guitar yet in positions 2 and 4 it sounds almost the same as a regular Strat that we all love. I like this auto switching. And another thing the centre single coil is the loudest pick up on the guitar - I'm not sure why but it is and is great for the Clapton /Otis Rush sounds.
Love the locking tuners on the Player Plus series.
The bodies are identical (from the outside) and have lovely radii at the edges - I seem to recall some Mexican and even US Strats not being so.
That's enough! Pete.
To me the neck rolled edges is a huge difference, advantage , really feels super comfy worn in feeling like a high end instrument compared to the player and usual MIM necks.
Would've loved this video comparing the USA Ultra models versus the Player Plus.
Oh that will happen, I promise:-)
@@danishpete Awesome, I never really bonded with the Ultra's but these seem like I may somehow like them better despite half the price. The right amount of modern for me.
@@danishpete comparing equivalent series at different price points would be interesting. Thus:
1. BATTLE OF THE MODERNS:
$475 Squier Contemporary SSS vs
$1000 Fender Player Plus SSS vs
$2000 Fender American Ultra SSS
2. BATTLE OF THE VINTAGES:
$475 Squier CV SSS vs
$1000 Fender Vintera SSS vs
$2000 Fender American Original SSS
BATTLE OF THE STANDARDS
$250 Squier 2021 Affinity SSS vs
$800 Fender Player SSS vs
$1500 Fender American Original SSS
Made in the USA just means you will spend another 900.00 OR MORE the quality is no better than the Mexico version. I have both and the extra money for the USA VERSION WAS A WASTE OF MONEY IN MY OPINION.
I agree with what You said (at 15:50) on the pickups regarding "fuller sound" vs noiseless and none-noiseless. Because I have never liked the noiseless ones just because they have sounded a little dead, but the noiseless on the Telecaster Player Plus was the first ones I have really liked.
Could listen all day to you too play. Having y’all play in the background while sitting on the beach with a nice breeze on the face. Love it guys!
This might be an unpopular opinion but I feel like guitar companies and older guitarists always chasing “that vintage tone” has really held back the guitar community in recent years. It really feels like unless you play metal guitar and pickup companies aren’t willing to put any more effort into what they’ve been doing since at least the 60’s
Damn straight
Categorizing anything that doesn't sound vintage as metal is playing into the idea you are lamenting. There's lot of innovation if you look, especially if you go upmarket. Suhr will sell you a more modern strat style guitar, fishman makes great cross-genre active pickups, Ibanez sells modern feeling and sounding guitars in all price ranges, etc. If you want a great modern style guitar, hunt down a Parker Fly (the high end ones, not the cheaper asian ones). Composite fretboard, SS frets before they were cool, ultra-light body. Fender is just doing what they do best - making guitars in the styles they created in a variety of vintage and modern specs.
Agreed I turned 50 recently and i played guitar since I was 12 and I hate all this vintage is better cork sniffing bollocks just look at uk guitaris magazine it's full of it (yawn) . Colours like this were generally never available from fender years ago only custom shop but now you can have all sorts of contemporary stuff. Wicked !!! I'm all for it.
I've got the player plus strat in Olympic pearl with the tortoiseshell pickguard and a maple neck. It's amazing. I love the ability to turn the neck pickup on with the bridge like a tele. The neck feels amazing. Perfect rolled edges. Way more bang for your buck, unless you want something more "classic". Then you can go with player or vintera I think it's called. Something like that.
I didn't realize the player plus tele had a comfort carve on the body. That's a game changer for me, because I find teles to be uncomfortable to play for long periods of time while sitting down. It digs into my ribs, while my strat is super cozy lol.
Omg finally! Been waiting for this one for a while to see the new player plus against the regular player series great video guys love you & Andertons you’re the best also keep rocking captain and danish pete you guys continue to inspire new players everyday including myself cheers!
Thank you 🙏🏻
@@danishpete Pete, I admire you very much, You play with technique and the soul. Please, give me your opinion about the Fender Signature H.E.R., the last of the three models, the one with Blue Marlin colour?
My Roadhouse Strat came with all the bells and whistles I ever wanted. Noiseless pickups, locking tuneyboiis, thicc headstock, and the s1 switch for schitzengeigles.
The S1 switch is a very underated feature imo. I've got one on my vintera modified and I love the position 1/S1 setting
The only concern I have is that switch crapping out on me. It feels like it would.
@@filipkostovski873 I don't think it's much more of a risk than any other electric guitar component.
Well the CNC Machines Fender uses in the USA are The same as the ones in Mexico, I know I've been to both locations...and refinement sanding is done using American hands and Mexican hands on both sides of the border. Do you get what I'm saying? Cheers from NEWPORT BEACH, CA.
Yes...Mexican Strats are built in Mexico by Mexicans....USA Strats are built in California by Mexicans.
Where is the Telecaster Cosmic Jade? We need a video of that beautiful color ! Congrats for the content ! Always cool and fun !
Fender succeeded to make a split humbucker sound very convincing. Very very good! Thank you Fender! You knocked this out of the park.
I ordered a Player strat in the aged cherry with maple HSS the day before the Player Plus came out and glad I did. Happy with the tone I get. Not crazy about those plus colors. Saved couple of hundred dollars too. I'm not a fan of pau ferro. Always looks dry.
Absolutely agree
I was right. I tried the player and the player plus stratocasters in the store, and i prefered the player over the player plus. I noted the difference in tone, for me the non noiseless pickups sounded better, much fuller, and with a little bit more output. Just like shown in this video.
Holy crap the Noiseles Plus Strat neck pickup sounds absolutely horrible. They are missing the mids and character of normal Alnico 5 pickups in the Player.
I agree. That's why I have a Professional instead of Ultra. Sometimes higher price does not mean better.
For me an important difference is the 43mm nut on the Player Plus. Might not matter to everyone, but to me that extra mm makes a difference when doing complex chords with my bear claws. Typically this has only been available on MIA models (one notable exception is the Squier Contemporary FR HH, which coincidentally I also own and love), so it's a welcome addition on the Player Plus. The neck profile and finish is also MILES ahead of the old MIM Deluxe (which also suffered from very low output pickups). As a foundation to put the electronics you want, the Player Plus is a solid choice. Kinda odd that they wouldn't put the contoured heel on it though (which the MIM Deluxe did have).
Oh... Fender please stop with the Pau Ferro, it looks like dried rosewood. If you can't do rosewood, do Laurel instead.
They couldn’t do the heel contour cause then there would literally be no reason to buy a US model. And stop dissing the Pao Ferro, it looks friggan awesome!
I wasn't happy with the reddish brown color of the pau ferro fretboard. I used dark brown rifle shaft oil by the brand "Ballistol" instead of lemon oil on every string change, so the wood changed to a nice dark brown color. 😉
was torn, but definitely going with the player plus. And the locking tuners really puts it over the top for me. I hate changing strings lol.
You can buy Fender locking tuners for roughly 75 bucks and changing tuning machines is the easiest mod you can do on your guitar and only takes about 15 minutes. The total cost of the tuners and the player is still about 150 bucks cheaper than the player plus. If you struggle to figure out how to replace them, Darrel Braun has a great video about that; along with many other great videos on RUclips.
I got a player Strat with a maple fretboard. I rolled the frets myself. Threw on some Fender locking tuners. I personally love it. There is no stickiness on the fretboard. I don’t think it’s worth the extra money. Especially since I bought mine before they raised the prices. So I grabbed it on sale for under $600
Hi Bear_Brap, interesting! Did you also successfully roll the edges without cracking the lacquer? Or only the fret ends?
@@surfinjim sorry I should’ve clarified the fret ends. I’m not brave enough to try to roll the fretboard.
@@love4boost Thank you for your reply! Yes, rolling the edges of a laquered mapke neck seem a dangerous endeavor, at least to me 😀 Have a nice day!
Player/plus strats didn’t sound much different but IMO regular player would be my choice … the tele I was surprised at the increase in overall tone on the plus … and
The tele looks and sounds nice rich and fuller with nice overall balance, but less gritty and snappy than a standard tele mind and I quite liked it, the Strat plus sounds not great no quack , but like a digital model of a Strat to hi fi ! I think I could enjoy the tele but would stick with a standard more hummy but Strat sounding Strat!
Thanks guys we appreciate all the hard work you do!
“Rock’n’Rolla!” Love that Guy Ritchie, I thought UK folk knew about that film, Lee was dumbfounded at Pete’s reference : (
I think the "noise-less" pick-ups are getting closer to what the original single coils sound and respond like.... but I can still tell and I definitely prefer the standard single coil pick-ups. I would have preferred that Fender would have kept with the regular pick-ups and added the contours (on the Tele) and rolled fretboards. Adding the locking tuners is an upgrade for most players (I'm not one of them...except for a trem equipped guitar that I plan on abusing a bit)....along with 2 point trem and maybe a slightly more modernized bridge for the Tele over a 3 brass saddle version. Maybe slightly different pick-ups...but stay away from the noiseless variety for most players IMHO.
I love the noiseless pickups!
I have a Nashville player plus and I like my squire cv 50's better
Just picked up the Player Plus Nashville Tele in Opal Spark and played my first gig with it yesterday. VERY impressive, comfy, tonal range is excellent, lots of very cool choices for tone - and quiet. Hugely impressed.
I would take a Player series Fender over the Player Plus. I prefer 9.5 fretboards and don't like noiseless pickups. The new series are really nice guitars, so don't get me wrong, they're good, but I just like the Player series as they are more affordable and traditional.
If you are in the UK check the guitarguitar limited series with roasted necks and USA PICKUOS
I just wish they were still 21 frets.
I agree completely 🤟🙂
Damn. The lick @0:23 is so smooth. Amazing. Gonna steal that.
Think with most of fenders stuff now they all sound pretty good, even the cheaper ranges. The differences been how they feel. To me either buy a player and spend some money/time sorting out the fret board etc or just buy a 50’s or 60’s reissue.
Just ordered a mint Player Plus neck with locking tuners for my beloved buttercream Player... Eager to get it, the current Player neck has really sharp edges
Damn, the neck arrived in extremely poor condition, in a single package. Dent on the headstock, unpolished frets, fret sprout etc. A very very bad one. Can't send it back. I'll never ourchase again from this seller. But the very bad fret job is not his fault. I have a doubt about QA if these MIM. Maybe ine more C...d side-effect?
I prefer normal pick ups over noiseless. The noiseless losses some of the warmth. Shame the plus and ultra don’t have standard pick up options.
I feel like the main difference that no one is talking about is the neck, 12 inch vs 9.5 radius. A more modern feeling neck for those who are into that.
Incredible comparison and attention to detail, thank you so much! Very informative. Much appreciated.
I spent a couple of hours playing the new plus tequilla sunrise strat tonight and I've found that the player series is much more pronounced and picks up more of all the subtleties where the plus tends to smooth everything down and much fuller. I honestly prefer the player to the plus (other than all the aesthetics and upgrades).
That's the noiseless pickups taking away a bit of sparkle and dynamic range. The trade-off for ditching the hum unfortunately.
It would be somewhat useful and funny if you could "tap" a single coil between true SC and noiseless mode.
I’ve got 3 Player Plus Top Strat HSS’s that I’ve totally modded.
They now have:
DiMarzio Noiseless pickups
DiMarzio Humbuckers
Brass Bridge Blocks
Graph Tech saddles
Fender Locking tuners
Dunlop Strap Lock system.
So my regular Players are now better than the Fender Player Plus guitars.
I’ll now put mine up against the stock Player Plus any day!
Seems after mod its a USA PRO 2 price guitar......how is the sounding?
@@kennytseguitar8574 …..with the top notch DiMarzios they sound amazing!
Pete closely playing “David Watts” by the Jam on the Tele demo..Preferring the + because of the belly cut.. 👍🇦🇺
Buy a player series and have your pick of a american loaded pickguard with a choice of what pups you want. I have a white player series strat, maple neck, locking tuners and a loaded american vintage noisless pickguard all for less than the price of a player plus and it plays and sounds epic!
Hahahahaha @ 4:35 from a Swedish perspective! The word for edge is "kant" 😂
I hear that these guitars have rolled edges are they as rounded as the Sire necks are?
I think the player Tele is more snappy the Tele plus sounds more like a humbucker.
Looks like a belly cut on the plus Tele too.
I come to Andertons TV for the opening music section but then stay for the guitar discussion. Man, I love these guitar playing opening!
Nice review of both models. I bought the player tele (non-plus) in Tidepool blue yesterday! Should arrive tomorrow
@@BkBk-gy6vr Glad you're impressed.
Bought the TequilaSunrise SSS Player Plus, it's great!!!
I have a 2017 Classic Payer 60's Strat. Absolutely gorgeous guitar, especially for the price. Had some awesome specs too, a bit better than the Vintera Series, i think. Regardless, i think the Mexican made Fenders are beautiful guitars, particularly for broke dogs like me.
Do you think the Kant from U2 would prefer the Player Plus with rolled edges? :)
That sounds suspicious if you read it in English lol
@Jeffry Thiele I'm glad you realised you just kant beat this one.
i never cared for U2 or the guitarplaying members of that troupe......(and yes kant is very much a german word too....Kante...being a mostly sharp edge,,,:-) )
@@stratman9449 you don't deserve a guitar if you don't know that Edge is one of the best rhythm guitar players ever
I used to date a German student, till I discovered she couldn't tell her Hesse from her Kant.
I went to a local music store with the intention of buying a strat but what really annoys me about strats are the cheap plastic volume/tone knobs. So I grabbed a player plus tele, played it for literally 30 seconds, walked over to the counter, asked the guy if he had a different colour. Bought it. My only problem with it so far is the plastic switch cover keeps falling off.
Flip it lol and it fits snug. same happened to me.
I think they should have added an S1 switch instead of the push/pull pot. That would have made things a lot easier
The Player sounds better. It's a few hundred euros cheaper, too. Noiseless pickups still suck.
I'd love to hear that tequila sunrise player plus strat.
This video confirms for me, that I prefer the start of the American line for the pickups, and the top of the line for fretboard radius, locking tuners, extra tone controls, but the pickups tend to be hit and miss in the same guitar in my opinion. Playing them since 94' amd trying my damndest to find the one deluxe I like. Tele deluxe rock every time though. Sorry, Player Plus here, but it's the American Standard Deluxe with different pickups. Same for the Tele version pretty much.
See, I kinda prefer the ugly blue one, but I don't really like strats, so... Great vid as always, pals! Love ya.
Noiseless single coil pickups do not exist. Those are stacked humbuckers. It's marketing, and actually quite deceptive.
When Pete was selling the player series to us, he made them sound like a custom shop strat. Not that he’s selling us these, they sound like a custom shop. Maybe Lee just got the ultimate demo man.
That's what they do for a living. Never expect a 100% neutral review on youtube.
player strats sound better than custom shops. theres a lot of videos comparing the two. Its genuinely just an amazing guitar.
@@TheApolloOrder do you have both? I did at one point and I can say without bias that my particular custom shop strat was one that had Abby Ybarra pickups and was a super thin light relic finish and that played and sounded leagues better than my player strat which had a choked sound. But I will agree, some folks got really lucky with those player guitars. I’ve sold both of those strays since and have bought CS tele and a vintera modified 50’s tele and honestly they sound damn near identical. It’s absurd how good the Mexican fender stuff is at the moment. I also picked up a road worn tele and it’s shooting wayyyy above its price range.
timely video. Was wondering about the player plus Teles. I kind of like the Green one. I'll have to venture out and try one. Thanks Cap and Pete.
Ok so what I learned as a strat guy is, I have to choose between a rolled edge neck for comfort, OR traditional pickups which sound better. Can’t have both. Nice job fender.
I bought the PJ bass. Nice instrument, but I'm not really sure about the pick ups and electronics. Very loud for noiseless pick ups. The rolled fretboard is not aggressively rolled, but it's nice. New logo is awesome. Nice hardware upgrades. I haven't warmed to the pick ups or the pre amp.
Never heard a noiseless pickup I like.
Man I just can't jive with the noiseless pickups.Makes it sound like an "almost strat".
Regular player would be my choice
Another awesome video. Oh the Fender Player series guitars are fantastic!
Still waiting on the player plus bass reviews from Nathan and Lee.
05:45 Butterscotch tele sounds more Telecastery to me.
It’s the extra butter!
My performer stratocaster and me stand strong lake placid blue American
As soon as they put one out with a rosewood board its mine.Nothn against maple at all,I just want one like J.Page.
I recently broke up with my girlfriend. Sundays used to be my day to spend all day on the Swedish edge. Instead, I watch Danish Pete and Captain videos. Thanks guys your videos are good, but I like that old Swedish edge more.
I think the old NON- noiseless pickups sound better… brighter but still with that chunky undertone
I check to see if they are making them in lefty..... and then I move on.......I do that a lot.....
The pickups on the Mexican Player strat do seem to have a warmer sound than the Player Plus version. Warmer than the American made strat as well, based on other videos. I often think if I ever « upgrade» to a pricier strat I might have to « downgrade » the pickups.
The Tequila Strat is soooooo nice !
But I really don’t like the sound of the noiseless PU.
On the contrary, I prefer the Tele Plus sound to the Tele std.
These will soon be available on the stratosphere so you could get the body and add what you want to it that’s what I see a lot of people doing in the future tbh and yeah I agree the tequila sunrise looks incredible
as much as I loved Rob Chapman in these vids, I'll take Pete's playing any day
*edit...this isn't to rip on Rob, it's just not my style)
i did laugh out loud at the 'roller' joke haha
4:25 The Danish word for edge 😂😂😂
I just love that 50 cycle hum! Sounds SO much better than our 60 cycle hum. (hee, hee, hee)
Captain has a good tan.
He's in England. That's rust....
The Danish word for Edge everyone is 'Kant' 😂 feel that rolled Kant
Thanks for the video, maybe I prepared the standard hss fender player in comes.with the sounds,or fender player plus telecaster
id prefer player series over player plus because I like more rounded fret profile- 9.5 inch radius. and noiseless pickups are great when we play double notes.. it gives a real feel. we always have noise gate to cancel them right.
Hey ho thanks to you both. This player plus check saves 950 euros on my bank account. There are three pickups that always sound strange. Split humbucker, active EMG and noiseless single coil pickups 😢
Maybe to your ears. The split coil on my Epiphone Les Paul sounds amazing.
What’s the song at 14:30?
My job I love strats I love fender but how many times can you reinvent the wheel. Just because you put a extra knob here or an upgraded this doesn't mean it's worth a grand more..... You seem like your guitar but I'll just stick to Frankenstein guitars
this is the vid i was really looking forward to
Nice to see them having the rolled edges, my only gripe with my Vintera mischief maker is that for a £999 guitar it has sharp fret ends
Glossy fingerboards are really nasty. I’ve had a Player Tele since 2018 and the frets are certainly worn in and after a recent level, if you have habit of touching the fret board during bends, it’s sticky as hell. I’ve swapped the neck for a Pau Ferro now.
I’ve got a Player Strat as well and I love it,
stuck locking tuners on both but I’ve always wondered what rolled edges feel like and if it would help thumb over playing.
Noiseless though, I mean John Frusciante plays at seriously high volume with stock and SSL-1 pickups, he gets some great feedback but never any rancid buzz.
Hey guys love watching your videos, Have you heard about the new boss 200 pedals that are fixing to come out? It’s a amp sim cab ir and the synth one. Would like to see a video about those in the future. Cheers from New Mexico USA.
My guitar coach told me Jimmy Hendrix used EMG pickups.
Interesing
The Plus sounds brighter - almost as if it had maple neck
The bridge pickup is a big difference - the Fender humbucker gives you this fat Fender sound, whereas the 'normal' humbucker might offer some tones outside the Fender range
I replaced my strat fender player humbucker with shawbucker however, I didnt like the sound of the shawbucker because somehow the fender player humbucker sounded better more bite when the distortion was on but not on the shawbucker. Shawbucker sounded big though but not enough bite. So, I took out the shawbucker and put back the original humbucker.
Well… now I want an Andertons IT’S JUST A THING t-shirt.
Love the white strat.
Anything to do a youtube video on a new product for Sales. It seems that ALL RUclipsr's are chopping at the bit to do a video of the Player Plus. It must be the perfect guitar, I have not seen too many negativities about this guitar.
On the player strat when you go to position 2 does it normally autosplit the humbucker or is it the full humbucker and middle single coil?
Outer coil of humbucker and single
great video . sounds is a very subjective thing . some like a partricular sound some don't . so its great to have many combinations , i like the new colours
The Player sounds like a traditional Tele. The FPP sounds different, hot rodded like it is.
I didn’t even notice they weren’t at their normal studio until he said so hahah
Forget fender, when you all are releasing the album?
Noisless Pickups,mmmmmm ,not sure
I’d like to see a comparison between the new Player Plus sss Strat and the old Player Deluxe Strat I used to have, which had an ash body, 12 in. radius, vintage noiseless pickups, S1 switch, real rosewood fretboard and old fashioned slotted top “locking” tuners. That was a very comfortable guitar to play. I gave it to my teacher to get a Vintera 60s modified Strat, which has much hotter pickups and more traditional feel. I wonder how much better the Plus can be. (Just like I wonder how much better the American Professional II can be than my old American Deluxe FSR mahogany, which has nitro, 12in radius, locking tuners and a heel cutaway).
The Player sounds just the way I would like a telecaster to sound, the Plus sounds good but in a different way. Marginally I prefer the original Player...............
That Player Plus Tele is also 43% more expensive than the Player. Looking at ebay right now, the £250 difference would buy you a second-hand Squier Classic Vibe as a back up.
Boa de som essa guitar Telecaster, um dia chego lá.
You'll get there bro am backing you all the way!
I love Tele's. Which I'm told is odd for a hard rock/metal player.. And I bought a new Tele Player six months back. I wish I didn't and had just built one from parts. I have spent almost as much making it right as I did the guitar. The pickups it came with were horrible. Tinny beyond belief and thin. The tuners were ok, but I prefer locking by far. The bridge was also tinny sounding and I had to change it to a brass bridge and saddles. And the screw holes from the pick guard were already stripped. And we're talking a brand new guitar out of box. I had considered buying an Ultra, but didn't want the thinner neck profile and knew those pickups would likely go too. I know, some people would be happy leaving things as is, but as a long time player with a defined style and tone, it didn't cut it. I think at this point, I won't buy another Fender except for something vintage.
I got a ventera 50s modified ,came with custom shop pick ups ,4 way switch and out of phase push push button on the volume knob with a soft v neck ,kinda glad I didn't get the player tele if that's the case with them .still want to change the tuners don't like the open ended vintage ones
So why the f did you buy it?
@@davea9946 As I said I do love Tele's. The Player is actually the closest model in neck, body and bridge to my favorite Tele, my 1995 USA Telecaster Plus. It has a modern C neck which the Plus has too. But sadly, that's about as far as it goes.
That blue/white fade & the chrome plated humbucker seems like fender is really trying to compete with the new ibanez AZ series. I mean the color for one is like a clone of the ice blue ibanez AZ. BUT ibanez did model their new super strats after vintage fenders..
