- Alison Martino reports for Spectrum News 1 SoCal. This segment covers some of the history of Culver City which has become a wildly popular destination for food, entertainment and culture. The city also rivals Hollywood in its movie-making history! Plus the Culver Hotel built in 1924. Charlie Chaplin was once a brief owner, Laurel and Hardy shot movies here, and yes, this is where the munchkins stayed during the making THE WIZARD OF OZ. Plus it was the inspiration for the 1981 comedy UNDER THE RAINBOW.
Interviews and destinations include: VILLAGE WELL BOOKS
City Council Member Dan O’Brian
CITIZEN PUBLIC MARKET
Owner of the CULVER HOTEL, Maya Mallick
The segment airs tonight at 9pm, but i’ve also downloaded the segment for you to watch right here.😁

Nice. The food looks amazing and the Culver Hotel is gorgeous!
Thanks for this! I grew up nearby (Westchester) and have lived in Culver City for more than 20 years. On one of the old MGM back lots! This is a great little town.
This has sure changed since I lived in the area. Miss the old Studio Drive In! Thanks for the update!
Alison- I'm sure I must have told you sometime that I live in a little bungalow complex that MGM built in 1929 for employees. I've been here 47 years.
love Culver City'!
