I stand by my opinion that Weiland was one of the last great frontmen in rock and roll. He had an Iggy Pop meets Freddie Mercury meets Jim Morrison thing going on with his stage presence. Slithered around like a snake and it was awesome. Never got to see STP live but I did get to see him with Velvet Revolver and he was fucking amazing.
Idk about that... he's got a interesting way of putting riffs together but he's not a very dynamic lead guitarist. The band as a whole tho are very good.
I got a chance to see stp live in Toronto for the purple album. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Was also blessed enough to see Alice in Chains open for Ozzy
Scott at the peak of his game: no special effects, just raw talent. Btw I'm months not years away from 70 so I've seen a few shows before all the dubbing and digital "help" today's bands get. Scott was old school.
Well it certainly wasn't this exact show because after the opening song he tells the crowd "...it's about time somebody brought rock and roll back to Los Angeles..." lol.
This is probably one of the best performances I EVER saw from Scott and it’s AMAZING! THIS IS THE BEST THING IVE COME ACROSS ON RUclips IN FOREVER! Thank you so much for sharing this!
@@AaronClow I watched the the Latrobe PA show on your channel. I think that's the best show I've ever seen by them, or maybe anybody for that matter. Scott is going for it 150%, personally I think he's in the height of his prime here. He's totally in the zone, especially on "Down". Holding that huge crowd in the palm of his hand man. I'll be watching this again tonight, and many more times to come. Thanks, this made my week
@@kevinprendergast4948 Definitely at the total top of their game. I wonder who owns the rights to that show. That's the one I'd love to see on Blu-ray. I'm grateful for the Chicago Blu-ray, but all Scott's vocals are overdubbed. There's zero overdubs on the Rolling Rock show. Glad you enjoyed it! I watch it at least once every year or two!
I'm 49 years old. STP was my first concert. I was 18 years old. The Butthole Surfers and Flaming Lips opened. Polish American Center Gardner Massachusetts. Back in the day.
I saw them in 1994 in Indianapolis. I guess it must have been the convention center. I looked it up on concert archives. Aug 15, 1994 Stone Temple Pilots / Meat Puppets / Jawbox. It was an open area with no seating. There was a huge mosh pit in the front. It's the only concert I crowd surfed.
My first ever band t-shirt was a Stone temple pilots shirt and I've always been a fan over the years. But recently I've been on a big STP kick and man alive, their catalog is absolutely incredible in so many ways. Videos like this are just priceless. Thank you for this.
I got to see him in Vegas with Velvet Revolver. He was seemingly sober but terribly thin. Wish I'd been able to see Layne once. Got to see Chris Cornell once with Audioslave and twice in Vegas solo. At the house of blues he was amazing.
You’re a tool. Why would you give a plug to STP/Velvet Revolver and then whine about not seeing Cornell (different band dB) both amazing. Shame on you for not seeing that. I wish you the best. You won’t amount to anything with that stupidity
One of the best bands not just of the 90s, but in the history of Rock. I only got to see them once live, but all these years later they still go down as one of the best shows I've ever seen. Scott is one of my favorite Front man ever, just so talented from the vocals right back to the drums.
I was tempted to post about watching this at the beginning of this video but I just couldn't. I felt like I was actually at the concert watching it live!
Totally awesome. STP is the complete package... and once in a while I can take my eyes off Scott for a second or two. My fave 90's band, the best body of work hands down. And Velvet Revolver wasn't too shabby either
Scott Weiland was the voice of my life’s soundtrack and I had no idea he suffered so. STP is the band’s whose albums would be a must if ever stranded on a desert island and could only have one!!!!!! I am almost 52 and experiencing the horror of having two children impacted by heroin. It’s devastating, confusing, scary and very, very sad. So listening to these songs now knowing SW’s struggle and prison that is addiction gives me a new perspective on the lyrics behind these classics. I hate that people so incredibly creative loose themselves to this drug. I will tell you this, that drug can ONLY be defeated by the power and mercy of God. Scott I hate you were so tormented, I can’t imagine, but thank you for sharing your talent and it was HUGE and I will be rocking out to STP, the original, until I take my last breath!!!!!
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I'm hoping for some divine intervention on your behalf, whatever that looks like. I read Mary Forsberg Weiland's memoir, "Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll, and Mental Illness," and they really both went through the mill. It's a good memoir, an enlightening and personal look into the struggle, but it might be tough to read given your current circumstances.
I always go back to that Velvet Revolver piece about finding a lead singer. They show the inside view and there were thousands of tapes sent in and they picked the best of the best to come rehearse. At the end not one was close. They then show Scott come in cold and it’s incredible the difference. When they say these leads are one in a million talent wise it’s the truth.
They don’t make frontmen like this anymore! I’ve seen them only 3 times unfortunately but till this day one of the most important bands to me ! Dean is a very underrated guitarist and his brother wrote so many of theirs tunes on guitar. Drugs SUCK!!!! We lost Scott way too young ! S T P forever 🎉
Thanks for sharing 👍 STP....myself personally..had to grow on me when I first heard them..in a go-go bar in Birmingham, Al. Through out the years they take me back to the 90's. Weiland 📢..greatest frontman!
When I first heard them I totally dismissed them. Thought they were just another '90s grunge band. Then I went out with someone who LOVED them and I heard much more of their stuff and how incredible it was. Then "Songs" came out and I was totally hooked. And then No. 4 came out and I thought they were just the greatest damned rock band ever.
This was a part of the secret show days in early 2000. Headline rock bands in small clubs Hollywood and you had to be in the know. Scott Weiland 😢 rockers like that bi centennial 🎉❤
First show I saw was with Meat Puppets at Cobo Arena in Detroit. My God what an amazing time of my life that was with my fave STP! I enjoyed every moment of this and got totally lost in time. Thank you!

That was amazing!! Thank you for the upload! I watched the whole concert! Fricken fabulous! STP killed it. Scott sounded great with the extra surprise Doors song at the end. Cheers!
I always love Scott as a singer because he was like me in that he didn't add a ton of reverb or other effect to his voice when performing live. I do think it's always been amazing the difference between is recorded and live voice. I always expected more power live. It's a shame we lose so many of the good ones to the monkey on their backs.
Scott was so talented he could do anything with his vocals , he could change em for any song
Yes, that was crazy the way he could vary his sound up so much and so well!!
Him nnnn Cornell
Yes 👍
Rest in peace Scott. You went full speed.
yeah he went full heroin
pray 4 him from israel

He's inspired me definitely. I use some of his moves during karaoke at the dive bar!
Chad Kroeger is the current juggernaut
David Bowie
Yes Bowie for Mercury is more of a connection
And wrote great lyrics and songs
Dean Deleo one of rocks most under rated guitarists.
Agreed
His brother Robert composed mostly all of the songs, he is the creative brain behind STP
@@berfusein85 Yes he is genius and also Dean is genius as well, he has his signature way of playing and tones, he is under rated and we are lucky

The bass sounds fucking incredible, miss u Scott :C
yeah, sounds liek there are 2 basses, one playign the low end and other the crunchy mids

Meatplow is my favorite. Underrated track
I love it too. Especially when they started doing it hard and slow.
One of their best for sure. The entire "Purple Album" is gold. "I have a brother and he shows me how"
