We raced a Mustang GT with our 18 Raptor HO and it was neck and neck with the Coyote barely pulling on us... but my cummins on 37's leaves the raptor like it's standing still so the raptor is a slow truck. Also, our 2019 F150 limited with the 3.5HO is faster than the raptor so I wasn't surprised that the Hybrid f150 beat the raptor. Raptor loses a lot of potential with those big 35's. Also raced a Roush Raptor 6.2 with the 18HO and easily beat it.

Just so everyone watching knows you dont have to pay that much for the Hybrid, its an option in all Trims. You could pick it up for as little as $45,000
Yup. Was thinking the same thing. I went on ford's website...built an f150 with the powerboost v6, minimal options. $48k. Of course they are going to show of the $79k version. Lol.
I get $52,690 for a 4x4 crew with all the good towing gear and big power inverters that make the hybrid really useful for other things. The color choices really kind of suck on all the 2021 F150s. I get $51,985 for the same truck above without the hybrid, but with the 3.0 diesel. The diesel will get better economy in the real world especially on the freeway. Then spend the $700 savings on a nice generator although that won't buy 7.2kW worth.
I have a 22 Powerboost King Rach with a Livernois tune, CVF Titan v2 intercooler, and AEM dry flow filter, and finally got a Dragy and did one quick 0-60 run after work (63 degrees and humid) and ran 4.89 0-60. I let off before the 1/8th mile and ran a 8.5 which is somewhere around 13.3 1/4 mile. Powerboosts that only have a tune are running in the 12's in better weather. If you're buying a truck to be fast, get the PB. $800 adds 95whp and like 85wtq, which puts you in the ballpark of 550ish hp and 650ish tq at the crank. Won't get those kind of numbers from any of the N/A trucks without spending a lot of money.
A simple tune will make it faster. The hybrid is tuned for fuel efficiency which is why it got like 29mpg on the highway which is crazy for a truck that heavy and big.
One possible added complication on the hybrid side. you can get a very different result depending upon where the battery charge happens to be. If you've done a bunch of back-to-back acceleration runs and haven't had an opportunity to let it regenerate and get that battery pack at least up to 50% you can end up with essentially no electric assist. Toyota Prius is this way also. When you're driving around normally most of the time battery pack is 60% or higher and you get a lot better acceleration.. well for a Prius anyway. :). If however you happen to do a bunch of stoplight hopping and driving inefficiently the battery can drop to its low level at which point the car is really really slow. on the Prius it's a significant difference because the electric motor offers almost 50 horsepower. The gas engines only about 100 horsepower. If you're missing that 50 horsepower you have driving a slug period fortunately in normal day-to-day driving that doesn't really happen very often. with the F-150 you always have the advantage of a powerful twin turbo v6 so it's never going to feel slow. But if that battery pack is on the low side you are going to get probably much less torque than the rated amount. When Nathan commented about how it launched and felt weird that could have been the reason why. The battery should simply recharge by just idling for a little bit, so if they had some time between those drag racing runs that would have given it a chance to charge back up.

The nice thing about the hybrid is that you can get it in any trim, even the work truck. I imagine a more base truck would be lighter and quicker. Oh, and it would probably cost half as much!
Problem is crew cab is required. So all in it's about $45,000 for base hybrid. But you would never do that. Base XL single cab with 2.7 v6 is the way to go. $30,800 Or 400hp v8 for $31,630
One thing gotta keep in mind with these videos. Is how much higher above sea level they are in their videos compared to most places. So think can take off like what? At least half a second off their 0-60 times?
If you hate the augmented engine noise so much then just disable it. It's a programmable setting in the truck. Take it to the dealer and they can shut it off.
And they are the grocery haulers indeed. Max payload is only around 1300lbs for the hybrid (heavy electric hybrid), and around 1100lbs for the Raptor (off-road).
I wonder if the differential gearing is different. Might be nice to mention when discussing the specs. Makes a difference. My brother and I both had F-150s. Mine had a 4:1 and his didn’t. His could not scratch at all. Your videos are always awesome!
Kind of a weird comparison - Drag racing a raptor with much larger, and heavier wheels/tires, 4:10 off-road gearing/ and significantly more unsprung weight (that isn't designed for acceleration on pavement) against a new hybrid street truck.. Not that it matters in the first place but I think that if both trucks had the same tires and wheels, the raptor would've won. It had to push a much heavier wheel/tire, and it had to push it significantly further than the hybrid due to the size of the tire. I'm also under the impression that the large difference in MPG is not due to the hybrid motor - its due to the gearing and tire size. I think the hybrid would see very similar mpg to the raptor if it shared the same tire/gearing combo. Anyways, the idea of having a force inducted hybrid-motor in a truck would be interesting maintenance-wise. I don't think we're going to see very many of these outside the city.
Think F-150 is a better choice for ur pockets..but too much technology..dnt know if it’s reliable in long run..anyway,txs to both papa bears..beautiful day and fantastic video as ever...nice camera/editing as well...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
There is a speaker is behind the grill on the drivers side near the front bumper, mandated by the Feds for all hybrid/electrics in the US starting in 2021. It makes HORRIBLE noises that detract from the great drive that is the Powerboost - needless to say, mine has THREE layers of super-strong duct tape all over it so you can only hear a faint muffled beep or drone noise. Ford claims 0-60 at 5.3sec - probably at sea level. I love this F150 - great interior and wonderful ride, mine gets 22 to 25 mpg and flat out flies if you want some boost fun.
For $75k+ I wonder if you could do all your service and maintenance at a Lincoln dealership. The Navigator has the same engine as the Raptor so I assume the technicians would be well versed.
@Darkjedi351 i dont think people who can afford a 75k car really care about the price of a twice a year service. The overall dealership experience is probably much more important. They want a more upscale experience than someone who’s taking their $2000 2004 ford focus in gets.
That's basically today's Navigator or last year's limited f150.... they have the same engine. The only difference might be the raptors 4 wheel drive system that gives it an edge on the other two
I just bought a Platinum Powerboost tonight. Looking forward to getting to know the truck and most definitely the increased MPGs over my gen 1 EcoBoost.
What about upgrading suspension on the powerboost hybrid and upgrading wheels and tires..does that basically make it just as off-road capable as a raptor?
Great video thanks for sharing. Question, do you know if there is a way to secure the key fob to my 2022 F-150 Platinum Powerboost? Recently someone tried to break via window to access the truck. Cops told me thieves these days have their own technology to use an aftermarket transmitter to gain access to these newer trucks. Luckily my truck didn't get stolen by I do have to replace all my windows.
Both trucks cost more than my first house and almost as much as my current one. Not living in a mansion, but also not depreciating. Amazing people not only buy these, but they finance them. lol
Ford hybrid batteries have proven to last much longer than the other hybrid makers, idk if that has more to do with the suppler or Fords specs for the battery

If you hate the augmented engine noise so much then just disable it. It's a programmable setting in the truck. Take it to the dealer and they can shut it off.
My wife will love these grocery haulers
I really hope they make the new raptor the way people want.
With a V8
It was going to come out in early 2021 but since the TRX came out they said “Stop! Back to the drawing board.”
You guys also need to let the converter flash and hit. Barely boost up and then go.
Why dont you find a longer strip to do all these test?????
Why exactly does it go into 4x4 when tow/haul mode is engaged?
Be curious to see what the Raptor would run on some stock F-150 rims and tires.
That's basically today's Navigator or last year's limited f150.... they have the same engine. The only difference might be the raptors 4 wheel drive system that gives it an edge on the other two
@@MrTxblksteel The Raptor's 4:10 rear ratio also gives it a big edge as well
I’m not a Ford fan at all but the more I see these newer trucks the more I appreciate the older fords like the mid 1990’s
I just bought a Platinum Powerboost tonight. Looking forward to getting to know the truck and most definitely the increased MPGs over my gen 1 EcoBoost.
Any issues with it
Hi, does it lack a drive/serpentine belt like other hybrids?
Nice to see Nathan and Roman together.
Can we just appreciate the fact that a half ton truck goes 0-60 in less time than some 90s mustangs... lmao.
Nathan...is a that a “Big Trouble In Little China” shirt? Niiiiiiiiiice.
So, What are the rear ends in each vehicle? Gearing makes the difference.
Wait, did it show 4x4 for trailer tow?
79k for that hybrid?? I'd much rather have a mid level TRX with 700hp and more offroad capability than that...
u dense? it's trim dood. starts at 45k dawg. have fun paying double for gas on the trx.
What about upgrading suspension on the powerboost hybrid and upgrading wheels and tires..does that basically make it just as off-road capable as a raptor?
Turn off the fake engine noise with forscan, problem solved moobs....
Forscan is probably one of the best things about owning a Ford, especially a newer one.
@@supersnot4 foreskin???
@@pechmichaelchristina2640 yeah, the name is a bit unfortunate. Great program though.
Got to launch the hybrid empty and with a trailer behind it, and it is stupid fast
Another awesome video 📹 😎👍
What is recommended fuel for Powerboost? Thanks.
Both trucks cost more than my first house and almost as much as my current one. Not living in a mansion, but also not depreciating. Amazing people not only buy these, but they finance them. lol
😂 My Raptor Run 3.91sec 0-60mph on E50 tune from 5 star tuning and AMS intercooler. A tune can take you long ways 😎.
9:45 looks like really obvious undercover cop.
What happens when you need new batteries for the hybrid. So over 10 years which truck is cheaper to run?
You probably just buy a new battery, it's only 1.5kw. The fuel cost differential over 10 years, I would imagine, would make up for that cost.
Wow 1.5kWh? Thats less than half the energy of a lithium golf car battery
Ford hybrid batteries have proven to last much longer than the other hybrid makers, idk if that has more to do with the suppler or Fords specs for the battery
funny that the sounds piped through the speakers i thought it sounded too good to be true in one of them
Remember this is at mile high altitude.
I don't think these guys were brake boosting them as they had about as much lag as they ever get sitting there off idle.
In a "race" I'd be in 4 Auto and spool the turbos. Then these things launch like crazy.
Did you guys turn the traction control off on any of the trucks??
If its on it'll slow you down.
Do a build on the Raptor with a corsa exhaust and full race EFR turbo kit. Then run it against the hybrid and TRX.
Then give the TRX a 2.75” pulley, cold air intake, and ARH long tube headers and run it again 😆
@@epap1375 Not sure they could...they own the Raptor. I'm pretty sure the TRX is a tester.
@@jghall00 You already know they will buy a TRX as soon as it’s available. These guys are drooling over it every video 😂 I hear production will start after the new year and car should be delivered in February
@@epap1375 they ordered one already
