I think being a RUclipsr brings a unique problem when it comes to locations. You're absolutely right, revisting a known location really helps to get the best compositions when time is tight. On the other hand, we (or I, at very least) don't want to show the same locations all the time. Really enjoyed this video - great footage and images throughout. 5:11 is an absolute banger!

Totally agree Robert - this is the fourth time I’ve made a film from down here so really know the area well , the compositions, the light etc so from a photography point of view it’s great but viewers may be a bit bored of my favourite tree now !! 🤣 Thanks so much for watching and so glad you enjoyed the film and images 👍🏻

Good to see you back out in the landscape. I also have a woodland which is only 20 minutes away, which is again so dependent on the light and weather conditions. It's definitely worth returning to a location you know well and which is close to home so you can take advantage of the good light 🙂

Many thanks Russ and great to be back outside ! Look forward to seeing more from your local woodland too . Been out a couple of times recently and just working on two more films both local and taking advantage of their close proximity - all the best

The old saying shoot what you know comes to mind. The better you know an area the quicker you can get to a spot with potential. It also allows fine tuning a prior composition for a better image, we hope. Seasonal change is another one I do this for. Enjoyed Andrew, have a wonderful weekend.

Many thanks and much appreciated Duane. I’ve really come to love this local spot and I’m making an effort to visit here in all different seasons and weather conditions for a variety of images . And enjoy the weekend too - all the best

Beautiful Andrew! Stunning images as always. Such wonderful light too.
    Love those pre dawn shots.
Totally with you on knowing your location. I love to get Sunrise across the lake here and knowing which locations are best and exactly where the Sun will rise proves always so useful.
Loved this one - hope you’re doing well Andrew 👍👍

I've done that so many times haha leaving the base plate at home! The worst part is when you know you've carted the damn tripod around with you for no reason haha......I bought two spares and keep them in my bags nowadays (it took a few times for me to reach that conclusion though). All great reasons mate, revisiting makes such a huge difference. You nailed it, knowing the compositions, where to be, the lay of the land, just takes the strain out of it and allows for a much more meaningful shoot. Lovely morning for it, that mist and sunrise equalled a great shot of your favourite tree

I do recall that location from some of your other videos, really pretty area. Lovely shots, especially the geese taking flight. Glad to see you back out doing the landscapes! Hope you're well!

Hi Christopher and yes I’ve filmed here two or three times before this outing - a great area to revisit and return to. Really glad to be back out doing the landscape photography after a fairly drab winter and hope to be able to film more as the weather improves and the conditions get better. Big thanks for watching and all the best .

Hi Andrew, some really good advise there and some fantastic images to highlight your point about knowing an area and visiting at different times of year, really enjoyed this one mate, great to see you out again, , The shots of the rising sun were really nice and the bonus images with the geese. but that first image with the mist on the water was worth the effort alone. Most people would not think about the time you have invested over the years in knowing that spot and it wasn't just a case of turning up at this location and getting lucky , it takes a lot of effort to get out regularly to these locations and we dont always get the conditions we would have hoped for . Great job mate, take care !

Many thanks Lee and much appreciated . I watched Daniels film and liked the advice much of which I’ve actually been putting into practice recently - My next film (out in a couple of weeks) also mentions scouting and geo tagging so Daniels comments resonated well. Back to this one and there was a slim chance of mist so I took the chance as it’s a location so close to home and glad I did. Glad you enjoyed the images and advice and thanks for the great comments as always.
      All the best Lee

Got some really nice shots that morning. The mist over that water was a real bonus. Added to the image nicely. Good tips too. I used to shoot Mac Forest almost every weekend in some of my videos. Every time I went back something was always different.

Many thanks Paul - the mist was an added bonus as the app was saying a very slim chance and it was a pleasant surprise when I arrived . I’m hoping to shoot more from here across the seasons as only visited in 4 of the 12 months. (Dec Jan Mar April) Macc Forest is such a great spot and i can see why you’d return so often- need a trip back myself ! All the best.

Those fantastic early morning conditions with the mist were perfect and even without a tripod you created some stunning shots. It was good to look back on some of the images you captured earlier too. Good job and have a great weekend.

      Thanks Andrew -
Can’t believe I forgot the shoe for my tripod but happy nevertheless with those early dawn images and it was
So peaceful and tranquil down there -
Just a beautiful morning to be out. Many thanks again and enjoy the weekend too 👍🏻
