  • A new video on how to use fusible and non fusible interfacings like foam, with vinyl, cork, faux leathers and other fabrics that can't be pressed from the front.
    Using fusible interfacing with vinyls and faux leather makes many people a unsure. So I made a little video showing how I do this with fusible interfacings and with non fusible interfacings such as foam interfacing.
    0:00 Start
    0:55 How to interface vinyl with a fusible interfacing - double or single sided fusibles, I'm illustrating with Fast 2 Fuse, but this is how you fuse interfacings like Decovil, Decovil Light and similar too.
    4:54 Interface vinyl with a foam interfacing - like By Annie's Soft and Stable, Pellon Flex Foam or similar.
    A little side note I forgot to mention in the video: If you press all the pieces for a bag, make sure you switch around your pieces and press them on different sections on your pressing board, so the board doesn't get too hot and start melting your vinyl from the front.
    I'm still very much a youtube beginner so any helpful hints or comments are much appreciated! And you like my videos, please like the video & subscribe to my channel - to make sure you don't miss out on any sewing tips, and because it makes me so happy!

    Thank you for a great video. Have you ever tried these techniques with Cork or Waxed Canvas?

      Thank you! Yes I've used them with cork a lot, but not waxed canvas as I've never worked with that myself.

    Loved your video and Subscribed! Question: I have the same double sided interfacing. Once you used baking paper against the second side to adhere the first side to the vinyl, do you have issues during the rest of construction of the bag with the second 'exposed' glue side? or when you pressed it against the baking paper did it make it no longer sticky? I'm not sure exactly how to word that, sorry. It's just that there are times when I want to use the double sided interfacing for only one side and I don't know what to do with the other side that still has glue. Thanks!

      @PinkPonyDesign  7 месяцев назад

      I'm so glad you liked it!😃The glue on the exposed side gets heated up, but as the glue doesn't stick on the baking sheet, it remains on the interfacing and can be reheated and fused to fabric again when needed. I usually fuse this second side to the lining of my bag once I'm done constructing the bag (I show and explain that in this video, you get suuuper nice linings this way: ruclips.net/video/x2V93b_yxQk/видео.html). However, if I don't wish to have the lining fused, I just refrain from heating the interior after construction, leaving the glue untouched. I hope that makes sense, if not, please ask again.

    To make you guys outside Germany suffer less, Vlieseline (pronounced "Fleas-a-lee-ne") is also sold as "Vilene" (pronounced "Why-leen") abroad 😉 It's absolutely okay to struggle with that spelling. Great job!

    Madam I want make card holder fabric Wat method I can use interfacing more stabilize this method may comfortable with cotton fabric

      I would recommend to use the interfacing recommended in the pattern you intend to use. It's so difficult to say as there's so many different ways of construction where different interfacings might lend themselves better or worse depending on amount of layers etc.
