    I just wanted to thank you for being aware of cost and that not everyone gets discounts or freebies. While watching a bag making tutorial the other day I was adding up the cost of materials and then while watching I realized there were no measurements. It was then I realized I had to buy the pattern to get measurements which added another $10. I had to stop watching because I knew there wasn’t anyway I could afford to make that bag. I have looked up the prices of the decovil and it is very expensive. Glad you showed an alternative to using it.

    Thank you! As someone who is on a fixed income and just starting to make bags, I found this video so interesting! And your demonstration reflected nicely on camera.

    I finally tried Decovil Heavy in one of my bags; I LOVE it! It was really easy to work with and it made a real difference in the look and feel of the bag.

    I have found that Decovil light compares to Pellon 808 or 809. I have used it to stiffen card slots and a few other places where I wanted something a little heavier than SF101. The Decovil Heavy compares to Peltex but doesn't provide as much rigidity. I find that the Decovil produces a better crease if you need to make a sharp fold. Just my opinion.

      I bought Pellon 809 to make a messenger bag with (my first bag). I thought it was quite a stiff interfacing. But this would compare with the Decovil light? I've seen the prices of Decovil light and just can't afford it on my pension. I'm just about to make another bag (handbag) and wondered if I should buy a 'lighter' interfacing.

    Ever since I discovered Decovil, I’ve been obsessed with it. I use DL in almost every bag & wallet I make (okay, I make it in everyone I make, no almost about it 😂). I’ve replaced anything with foam or fleece with DL. I just like the feel of the DL & DH so much better then foam or fleece. I use DH is just about every bottom. It’s just so hard to go back.

    Hi Sara, I have been told that decovil heavy is double the thickness of the decovil light so if you needed to you could double up on the light to give the same result as the heavy. Would you agree with that? It might be useful in a pinch if you’re unable to get the heavy and already had some light in your stash.

    when using Decovil should you cut it smaller so you can easily sew, press ad turn the fabric? (I heard this somewhere, wanted to get clarification).

    Is there a difference between the 2 brands Vilene Decovil vs Pellon Decovil? Or are they the same thing but Pellon is just the brand more accessible in the US? I know they each have their light and heavy versions but I'm seeing some ppl use the Vilene which has a brownish color and then others use Pellon which is lighter and I'm confused on if one is better than the other.

    Thank you for the video. I had no idea of this product decovil but I’m very interested. I make clutches using old used wedding dresses and I have been using 101 fusible fabric . I works well but it’s not sturdy enough to give the clutch it’s shape. Peltex is not as flexible . I use sateen fabric and silk dupion. I’m always looking to improve this part of the process on building a clutch purse . What would you recommend . Thank you so much! I’m a big fan of yours

    Thank you for explaining. How does the fabric look like when you have to turn the bag after sewing the lining? Is it easy to turn the bag when Decovil Heavy is used?

    • @bronwyncarr6714
      @bronwyncarr6714 3 года назад +1

      Decovil heavy is pretty hard to turn. I use it after turning, when I can add it at the end and sew a turning hole closed.
