I don't know if you follow any theories but: POTENTIAL SPOILER!! The One Piece could be many things in one. The leading theory that I've seen and thought of is that once you cross the Grand Line fully and get back to the start where it meets the Red Line, you can blow up the intersection or something and that will connect all 4 seas of the world which would give us one connected ocean (Sanji's All Blue), the entire world will be charted (Nami's dream), the world will be united, thus making it free-er than ever (Luffy loving the freedom that comes from piracy) and all that leading to everyone being ale to get any other treasure. Not to mention that would disrupt the World Government and tons of other stuff. Robin will find the last Poneglyph maybe and understand the entire history of the world before the entire change (pre World Government). Laboon could finally reunite with everyone and stop banging his head on the cliff (the first big hint towards that theory). There are many huge things that could be solved there at the end which would lead to a united world and Gol. D. Roger knew somebody else needed to do it. I've read many volumes of the manga many years ago but I don't keep up at all (I've read up to Dress Rosa arc [volume 70] but nothing else since) and the idea that One Piece is an idea that manifests itself physically using the world itself is fantastic imo and that theory seems to hold best. Considering how good the author is "the friends we made along the way" is definitely not it as you've said. But neither is it just being some treasure in the traditional sense. The treasure is likely physical but carries a lot more with it. The interaction with it is physical, but what it results in is so much grander than that. Of course, this is just a theory. To answer some of the questions you guys had Carlie and Ange; - The story is very close to the manga/anime. Not completely 1:1, but close enough to appreciate that it stayed mostly true to the canon. If I had to give it a number, it would be like 90% anime accurate, maybe even 95%, which is very good. - The characters are also all pretty much 1:1 to their manga/anime counterparts, and the actors across the board did a great job playing their characters. Including side characters/fodder. - The story/setting is not based on a particular human era, it's basically an alternate reality where basically anything goes. If you guys ever watch the anime, it will become very apparent. Here we obviously have "live-action limitations" but they still did a pretty good job with the more "fantastical" scenes. Looking forward to the rest of your reactions!
95% is way too high, they did change quite a lot of things. But I think most changes made sense and were well thought out and well executed. A lot of the plot lines are different, Luffy, Sanji, Usopp, Garp and a few others are characterized a bit differently. I'd say the live action show is 70% accurate to the manga.
Well, the reason I say 90-95% is because the things that were changed weren't super relevant to the main plot, as in, they don't make a huge impact to the main story Oda is trying to tell. Meanwhile the changes make the story flow better in a live action environment. You are right that *technically* the show is like 30% inaccurate, but I'd argue the majority of that 30% is not important in the grand scheme of the story. @@Krustenkaese92
That percentage is way too high considering they cut out entire characters which would reoccur and become relevant later on as well as some hype moments. I don't think it's a huge issue, in fact 90% of the changes were probably good in terms of this being a more condensed live action, but really, it's probably like 65-70% accurate to the manga. The overall direction of the story is the same, but there are a lot of changes in the details.
The manga was used for references for how events played out and their looks, not the anime, which ofc has its own changes due too tv censorship early on that anime only fans get confused about in the LA.
One Piece is set in its own world and thus isn't beholden to any particular "period" as far as clothing and technology are concerned. While a large part of the aesthetic is "age of sail," there are a LOT of examples of "anachronistic" clothing, so just expect to see examples of "modern" fashion within the show.
The math jokes were killing me looool. Happy you enjoyed the first episode. For the time period, there is a particular, but it is tricky because the story of One Piece does not seem to be on our planet. Looks like it is its own world, and it is a wild one. All the costumes are straight from the Manga or the cover pages of the Manga the author himself is drawing. Hope you enjoy the journey, and thank you for this great reaction
It is its own world, there is no set time period reference. It is more environmental and the author's whims. Like it mentions in the intro it is a big world full of many Islands, so expect some interesting things.
@@fireking9341 There's literally cyborgs and dinosaurs in the same world. Time period is irrelevant, the general theme is 'looks pirate-y' but on an arc by arc basis Oda changes things up to suit whatever setting they're in. Some pirates are viking themed, some are mafia themed. There's just no single time period for the setting.
7:38 It wasn’t quite out of nowhere. It was Luffy’s response to Shanks saying “the sea is a dangerous place. The scars on my face are proof of that”. Basically, as Luffy said, he wanted to prove he wasn’t afraid of getting hurt, so the danger didn’t matter to him, and also, he wanted a scar like Shanks’ scars.
OH MY GOSHHHHHHH I love u guys, I love your channel and your videos. One Piece is my favorite anime and I am so happy that you decid to watch the live action. Enjoy it!
The consensus among the majority of fans is that every actor they cast is somehow so naturally like their character it’s weird. The way they have acted in interviews reflects their characters a lot and it’s endlessly entertaining. Iñaki Godoy IS Luffy. The creator of One Piece who is pretty involved with the show (was involved with having a final say in all the casting too) told him he wouldn’t have anyone else play Luffy. 😭 Emily Rudd who plays Nami is a huge anime fan and this was a dream role for her. A perfect choice with good understanding of the character. And Mackenyu as Zoro was perfect too, he’s been an anime fan forever and every time he’s asked about it his answer is “I’m Japanese!” lol Can’t wait until you meet all the big characters. Everyone really smashes their role. It’s a triumph for live action anime adaptations. Finally.
I had a massive crush on Zoro the first time I saw him in the anime as a child and now 1000 epsiodes later I'm 26 and that still hasn't changed one bit lmao😂
One of my favourite things about One Piece is when the crew plan for a raid, attack or saving someone They have to plan around Luffy because he's just going to wing it 😂😂
All the main castings in this show did amazing! The villains are amazing too! Some added their own little flair and some stuck straight to how the manga characters acted and they all did a fantastic job.
the actor who plays Zoro is a well known actor in Japan, has great action and sword skill. His sword fighting scene really shine as a villain in Rurouni Kenshin (still the best live-action anime adaptation IMO)
It was great live action, as a manga reader they change stuff but you don't miss alot of it like having great character, world building etc.. . This is perfect for those who don't watch anime or read manga.
I actually love how they change stuff because in manga and anime things are obviously so different than in real life. I like how they did one piece… but to the extend that it isn’t weird to watch because Leute be fr. If they stuff 1:1 it‘d be cringey to watch them try that. I love the delivery of everything.
I was always too intimidated by how many episodes of the one piece anime there are but after watching the live action I decided I’m watching it all LOL I’m so excited to see you guys react to this! ❤
gehehe,,, i started one piece when i was like 13 years old now im 31.... havent really cared watching it one episodes per week or taking couple years of break every now an then... tho now im reading manga
Not as accurate but they pretty much are true to the source material. There are changes but it really worked out in the end. One thing I love about it is that it gives the same feeling as the anime. The warm sense of adventure and dreams.
Its got the same heart as the original which is more important than the overall plot points being the same. Things like orange town having to be less expansive because of budget are things you gotta consider as well, and i think the live action did a great job. Still not as great as the manga but a masterpiece is hard to top
YESSS! So glad youre starting this^^ I started the anime a few months ago and absolutely love it! The live action stays mostly true to the anime with some parts slightly different. But it was made to introduce newcomers into the anime too! Youll love it! ^^
There won't be a "SHIP" if you meant like a pairing or romantic relationship. One Piece creator Oda-sensei specifically said there's no "shipping" or romantic stuff between the Straw Hat Pirates, even in Live Action because they are family, like brothers and sisters - but they can be shipped I think to others outside the Straw Hat Crew~ :)
What an amazing surprise! I’m so excited to see you guys reacting to the live action! The actors are amazing and although the live action made a few changes it is faithful to the source material!
You guys are cute and hliarious! As a huge one piece fan I really enjoyed watching you guys react to the live action. Also, really loved the comment about Zoro dragging around Mr 3.5!! Literally was the joke I thought of when I first saw it and hadn't seen anyone say that yet. Thank you guys for the entertainment!!
enjoying the reaction!~ i had seen some clips from a mash up and thats how i found yalls channel, but glad to finally watch your actual full reaction!~
Btw @Carlie & Ange, to 10:00 - It is very accurate to the anime, since Oda (the creator) controlled the adaptation himself. Only some needed changes are done, like shortening here and there (since Manga/Anime is just too long) and leaving out some parts/characters, where they had not enough budget to implement it (like a six-arms swordfighter antagonist in the final of this season)
the live action doesnt portrey all of the emotions you actually feel during the anime or manga but it does give you a really good idea of wha the adventure of one piece intails. loved watchin yalls reactions, smiles whole time!!
So hyped to see you looking at One Piece ! I've been following your channel for a while now, you're always keeping me company while im in the transport ! Ah YES! The actual first well done Live Action Anime in history on the best reaction channel on youtube! You guys have no idea how - as a One Piece Fan - the shock I got at just seeing Iñaki Godoy embody Luffy as perfectly as he did.
As far as accuracy goes, it's accurate enough. It does some things differently, but it's not breaking canon. It just has different presentation and subtly different characterization to suit human actors. It's great.
You won't regret it. I was basically in the same boat as you guys. Pun unintended. I've never seen one piece but this live action was not bad at all. Loved it. Glad you guys are reacting to it 👌👌
There are many references, easter eggs and cameos for us long time fans. This is a completely new world, it looks more like it was from the past, but they also have modern stuff actually. The Phone Snail is one such thing. They did an amazing job to make this 8 episode live action a success and as someone who's been following it for over 20 years, I couldn't be happier to see new people experience this amazing adventure for the first time in a new format. Hell, even my mom who can't really get into anime and manga, loved this show. We watched the first 2 episodes together and the rest she watched on her own.
Your logic with the One Piece live action was exactly the same as mine! I’m hoping I can hop into the anime a couple hundred episodes in after watching the live action
It's actually my biggest worry about the live action. The strength of the Manga and anime is the depth and detail. Something or someone that seems like a throwaway detail can suddenly be the key to an episode or arc 500 episodes later
@@mid1880 Still is important to watch the anime from the first episode, than starting from episode 45, because the skipped many details and some things changed that some of them are a bit important later on (obv, the live action didn't have much time to put everything). If someone wants to save time, its better to watch those episodes on One Pace, were they cut out filler moments and slow pace.
How could it go wrong ? It's supervised by Oda Eiichiro (the author of the manga) himself. Anyways I'm surprised and glad to see you react to this cause as a big fan of the series, I think it's a pretty good introduction to it for people that are interested and since some stuff are rearranged to fit on 8 episodes for the 1st season it's also a nice rediscovery for people that are long time fans. Have fun watching it !
The story arcs for the Live Action match up with the anime, as do the characters involved for the most part, but the actual events themselves are changed drastically between the two versions.
It's more faithful to the manga than to the anime, but it's not a 1:1 retelling. I'd say it basically hits all the main story beats. It covers over 40 episodes of the anime and around 100 chapters of the manga, so it does miss _a lot_ of things. Plus, some arcs are redone to make more sense for the live action plot. But none of the key points are missing and it's formatted in a way that anything that is missing that is needed for future plot has room to be re-covered in future storytelling. Also, some aspects are done in a certain way to foreshadow certain future events/conflict in a way that better suits this medium.

I‘m just imagining how it must be like to watch the one piece live action without knowing anything about one piece at all.. it must be so weird but so entertaining at the same time. I think everyone that watched one piece knows that they did such a great job with the live action because they did all they could do with cgi and all that to the point it is not strange and weird to watch because I think adapting things that happen in the anime 1:1 in the live action wouldn’t look that good because in the end.. anime is anime and real life is real life. They found a great way to work with it. The one piece essence is still so present I love it. The crazy thing is also, that even before the show was out everyone came to love the cast. Each cast member and their chemistry. Also they met oda, the mangaka (creator) of the one piece that is a huge honor. Oda dedicated his life to one piece since over 2 decades and is fully involved in the live action. He was the one picking each cast member and he had to give his okay to each episode. There is a whole video of Iñaki (Luffy) meeting oda too.
Zoro’s actor “Mackenyu” is also well known for nailing extreme stunt action. He was in many live action adaptation of other famous anime including Rurouni Kenshin, which is considered as best live action adaptation based on anime/manga by many
A big part of what makes One Piece so much fun is deciding to "just go with it" haha So don't try to worry too much about what time period this is or whenever things don't make too much sense. One Piece is in its core an extremely absurdist comedy and the creator has said that if he finds something funny or silly or absurd, he'll put it into his story, and then worry later about it making sense. He'll usually form the world around his jokes after the fact, so they kind of make sense in hindsight, which is why this world is so whacky. I freaking love that writing approach. One Piece in this sense has more in common with something like Spongebob imo.
I was wondering if you guys gonna watch One Piece Live Action and I was reallllyyy looking forward to it cuz not gonna lie I love your reaction. That's why I was over the moon upon seeing the thumbnail 🥹 As expected Carlie and Ange would never let you down! Love you guys! I'm looking forward for the next episodes ❤
This is very accurate to the anime, they changed a couple introduction details and stuff but the whole plot is the same. It's also very condensed, 1-8 of the live action covers 1-48 of the anime
one piece world is goofy, weird, surprising, and colorful, and you have to be open mind to enjoy this world.. and the costum yes it's confusing, and you absolutely right.. it's mixing between old school and modern.. but this is how the costum is depicted from the manga.

*Me, immediately smashing the 'subscribe' button!*
Later on in the manga it's hinted at an accurate time period, but for spoilers sake. It's a time period of the great pirate era lol.
@@DNeonLamp True, but it's also a post-apocalyptic world. Shit now isn't as far advanced as they were during the void century.
@@DNeonLampwell to be fair, the dinosaurs in question are not really dinosaurs tho, i'm not gonna elaborate any further because... spoilers
@@ariqsyafwan4987 No, there are literal dinosaurs. 2 duelling friends ring a bell?
Was scarred with Dragon Ball Evo and wasn't sure about a live action OP but overall pretty good adaptation, thanks for the surprise reaction!
We dont speak about Dragon Ball Evo. What an absolute train wreck
Didn't expect you guys to start this franchise from the Live Action!
Hope you guys will enjoy this series as much as the anime and manga fans do!
Unexpected, yet very, very welcome. I have exams tommorow yet I am here to watch!!!! Peak piece!!!
Emily Rudd who plays Nami is a huge anime fan and this was a dream role for her. A perfect choice with good understanding of the character. And Mackenyu as Zoro was perfect too, he’s been an anime fan forever and every time he’s asked about it his answer is “I’m Japanese!” lol
Can’t wait until you meet all the big characters. Everyone really smashes their role. It’s a triumph for live action anime adaptations. Finally.
Funny how Carlie just said she’s confused about the costume design, and immediately they showed Helmeppo without any costumes whatsoever! LOL
His hair is his costume lol
I had a massive crush on Zoro the first time I saw him in the anime as a child and now 1000 epsiodes later I'm 26 and that still hasn't changed one bit lmao😂
One of my favourite things about One Piece is when the crew plan for a raid, attack or saving someone
They have to plan around Luffy because he's just going to wing it 😂😂
All the main castings in this show did amazing!
ppl always say theyre sad when their favorite show finally ends but One Piece never ends ! 😂
gehehe,,, i started one piece when i was like 13 years old now im 31.... havent really cared watching it one episodes per week or taking couple years of break every now an then... tho now im reading manga
Not as accurate but they pretty much are true to the source material. There are changes but it really worked out in the end. One thing I love about it is that it gives the same feeling as the anime. The warm sense of adventure and dreams.
Yeah any changes made seem to be done to make it a bit more of a smooth experience otherwise it seems pretty one to one otherwise
Its got the same heart as the original which is more important than the overall plot points being the same. Things like orange town having to be less expansive because of budget are things you gotta consider as well, and i think the live action did a great job. Still not as great as the manga but a masterpiece is hard to top
A halloween party is the setting. Theres pirates, tribal people, robots, clowns, factories, feudal japan, and way way more
YESSS! So glad youre starting this^^ I started the anime a few months ago and absolutely love it! The live action stays mostly true to the anime with some parts slightly different. But it was made to introduce newcomers into the anime too! Youll love it! ^^
I loved the 7 divided into 2 comment. That’s my kind of humor
Zoro actor is Mackenyu. He has acted in Rorouni Kenshin movie aka Samurai X(English anime title).
Absolutely appreciate the mathe humor and her wondering about costume design during the scene Helmeppo plays around with Zoro's Katana.
I love how they make buggy look like a badass before you realize what a joke he is 😂😂
Awesome! I'm glad you decided to watch this.
There won't be a "SHIP" if you meant like a pairing or romantic relationship. One Piece creator Oda-sensei specifically said there's no "shipping" or romantic stuff between the Straw Hat Pirates, even in Live Action because they are family, like brothers and sisters - but they can be shipped I think to others outside the Straw Hat Crew~ :)
thank you so much for doing this one as well, I was waiting for yall to uplaod this one
"7 has been divided by 2" omg, you absolutely killed me with that. lmao. And this is very faithful to the anime, which is part of why its a hit. :)
the math pun was perfection :D
What an amazing surprise! I’m so excited to see you guys reacting to the live action! The actors are amazing and although the live action made a few changes it is faithful to the source material!
I’m so excited for this!!!
Edit: 11:48 oh Carlie you’re in for a treat
You guys are cute and hliarious! As a huge one piece fan I really enjoyed watching you guys react to the live action. Also, really loved the comment about Zoro dragging around Mr 3.5!! Literally was the joke I thought of when I first saw it and hadn't seen anyone say that yet. Thank you guys for the entertainment!!
I couldnt stop laughing at the “7 is divided by 2” and “3.5” jokes 😭😭😭
I’ve been waiting for your reactions! I’m not much of a manga/anime fan but I watched this and was pleasantly surprised at how hooked I was.
Omg!!!! Finally 🥳 I don't know why i'm so happy😭😭😭😭 I love your reaction and you just made my day💜🫶🥺😭
OMG you guys!!! you'll gonna love this series!!!
Eichiro Oda the creator, said that the One Piece is something phisical
that's true, Eiichiro Oda said that One Piece the treasure is something tangible!
enjoying the reaction!~ i had seen some clips from a mash up and thats how i found yalls channel, but glad to finally watch your actual full reaction!~
Btw @Carlie & Ange, to 10:00 -
It is very accurate to the anime, since Oda (the creator) controlled the adaptation himself. Only some needed changes are done, like shortening here and there (since Manga/Anime is just too long) and leaving out some parts/characters, where they had not enough budget to implement it (like a six-arms swordfighter antagonist in the final of this season)
7 has been divided into 2 got me and I'm not ashamed to say it
I LOVE U BOTH AND I LOVE YOUR REACTION FOR THIS SHOW NOW IM GONNA REWATCH ALL EPISODE YOU REACTED, FOR 4 TIMES
So hyped for this! Yall are definitely gonna want to watch the anime when you're done with this
the live action doesnt portrey all of the emotions you actually feel during the anime or manga but it does give you a really good idea of wha the adventure of one piece intails. loved watchin yalls reactions, smiles whole time!!
Man is lugging around 3.5 is exactly where my brain went, love that you guys say what I’m thinking half the time
WOOOO! Glad to see you guys being introduced into the world of One Piece
So hyped to see you looking at One Piece ! I've been following your channel for a while now, you're always keeping me company while im in the transport ! I thought that we would never see any One Piece related content because the anime is extremly long but thanks to the LA I'm lucky that one of my favorite anime's being reacted to by you guys :D I love you guys, thanks to bring us this fantastic content and I wish that you'll love OP as much as I do :D - A Swiss fan

15:15 Zoro bar fight
22:20 Vs morgans, Garp, Buggy
You are right about Zoro doing most of his stunts
Ah YES! The actual first well done Live Action Anime in history on the best reaction channel on youtube!
You guys have no idea how - as a One Piece Fan - the shock I got at just seeing Iñaki Godoy embody Luffy as perfectly as he did.
31:06 The Author of One Piece said, one piece is a physical element and he hates those kinds of trope where treasure is something abstract.
Yesss... finally! I was waiting for you guys to react to one piece..Tq . You guys don't disappoint...love your reactions..❤
VIDEO HASN’T EVEN LOADED YET AND I ALREADY DROPPED A LIKE
Oh my god I'm SO excited for your first experience with One Piece! The live action really feels like you're watching the manga sometimes.
Yes omg I was hoping you guys would do this eventually! Wasn’t expecting it any time soon tho so this is greattttttt
omgg yes i was waiting for this im so excited
I really enjoyed your FMA Brotherhood reaction. Glad to see you start your One Piece journey.
3:16 Her reaction! lol
Was waiting eagerly 😊😊😊
YESSSSS IM SO EXITED LOVE YOU GUYSSSSS
Oh my, I was waiting for you to drop this 😊
found yall bcus of ur current Dressup darling reactions. saw u did One Piece too so went back to ep 1 to watch that. There u mentioned u did the live action b4 too so went back to yalls vids to look for that. and here i am :)
will be fun to see u guys thoughts n' stuff :)
Yess!!! So excited for you guys
Consider this OPLA as an 8hr trailer for the anime/manga. Really excited for your journey!
And I’m pretty sure you’ll love Buggy!! Especially in the anime. Looking forward to you guys watching the anime and posting here!!
Zoro’s actor “Mackenyu” is also well known for nailing extreme stunt action. He was in many live action adaptation of other famous anime including Rurouni Kenshin, which is considered as best live action adaptation based on anime/manga by many
Extreme? Ok. 😂
@@Krust23 have you actually watched him as Enishi or what
A big part of what makes One Piece so much fun is deciding to "just go with it" haha
So don't try to worry too much about what time period this is or whenever things don't make too much sense.
I'm looking forward for the next episodes ❤
noooooo finaly your reaction that i most want to see i love you guys greating from chile
10:01 I’d say that, overall, it’s roughly 80-90% accurate to the anime. Episodes 3 and 4 are where most of the 10-20% inaccurate is from.
This is your guys peak❤best reaction!
One piece technology is a mix, so there are super advanced technology too, is not a medieval world, is totally fantasy
11:31 “seven has been divided into two” this one kills me 😭
This is very accurate to the anime, they changed a couple introduction details and stuff but the whole plot is the same.
It's also very condensed, 1-8 of the live action covers 1-48 of the anime
One thing you quickly realize about Luffy, is that he is quite possibly, the biggest idiot to ever exist.
The Live Action One Piece is better than the anime. RealTalk!
one piece world is goofy, weird, surprising, and colorful, and you have to be open mind to enjoy this world.. and the costum yes it's confusing, and you absolutely right.. it's mixing between old school and modern.. but this is how the costum is depicted from the manga.
You guys are the one couple I want to watch the anime so badly it's kinda sick, but I got goosebumps when I saw the notification AAAAAA
