Thank you so much for the review on these Ommi hooks. This video reinforces why I love watching your channel, Jen. You are open to new things and as honest as a person can be! Thank you so so much. The resin hooks are sold out now also. It would be great to find these from another supplier and not just Amazon.

I can’t remember who mentioned it before but their suggestion was to use a dryer sheet to clean off any hook. It will give it smoothness to the hook, so that’s what I’ve been using for a long time. But I’m definitely going to try the Omni hooks because furls to me is over my budget. Thanks for the comparisons.

I bought a whole set of these on Amazon. I love them. I don’t have any Furls to compare them to, since those are too expensive (the Ommi ones were expensive enough), but I think these work as a great alternative. I can literally sit on my couch for 15 hours crocheting without really stopping. And yes, I’ve done that more times than I can count as I have no life. 😂

I worry when hooks are made so decoratively with materials that are of better quality at such an inexpensive cost. Especially when they are made in other countries. The first thing that comes to mind is sweat shop piece work. For example just recently with Target and their granny square sweaters for 25.00. With that being said they are pretty hooks and look comparable to furls. If you cant afford furls these might be good. The Ommi may not be my choice for these reasons but thank you for a thorough review of both brands.

my partner is a lathe crafter and the resin/wood mix is called a hybird these start out as a long rectangle and turn in to amazing pieces, you never know how something is going to turn out :) he has done loads of pens necklaces razors bowls BUT NO CROCHET hooks yet .... one day i will nag one time just enough for him to try :) I have a feeling the resin hooks are done on the lathe also as he has done items on there also that are just resin so that could explain no seams in the hooks ???

Jen, I’m so happy you reviewed the Ommi hooks, I had left a comment b4 asking if you had heard of them. I’ve the yellow, a purple swirled, turquoise wood a pink and an orange n black. Love them. They’re fine for my hands bcuz I’ve big hands.
A little tip that I use to clean the wax off new hooks, drop of alcohol or wax paper.
    Great review. Thx Jen.
I hold my hooks both pencil n knife.
You trying the pencil hold reminded me of when I was learning to crochet. Lol

Ommi will be perfect for you because its longer. What i like about ommi was its pointy head but ommi is way too long, i hope they can make shorter ones, because i hold my hook pencil style. But furls is pricey hook . If they combine the pointy head of ommi and length size of furls thats the perfect for me. But we have different style and comfort, so they need to meet that variety of crocheting styles and comfort :D

For those wanting to try Furls wooden hooks, Mary maxim carries some of the basic wooden Furls cheaper then getting them from the Furls site. It is all individual preference on feel and how each person holds the hook and crochets and hand size. How boring it would be if we were all alike and liked the same exact things; As they say different strokes for different folks 😀 As always, Great review Jennifer! You are ALWAYS so fair in comparing things!

Jen, thanks so much for this review. When I first heard of Furls I thought they were worth checking out but have not purchased during to the price point. Then I found the Ommi hooks on Amazon. I got two wooden hooks, an H & I. You're right, there is some drag on these hooks, so I watch which yarn I use with the wood hooks. They are a little long in the neck, & are very light, but I do like the feel of them & the pointed end of the hook to get through stitches. I have been wanting to get an Ommi resin hook so I'm really glad you were able to review both the resin & wood hooks. Now I can feel confident knowing an Ommi resin hook is worth investing in. I really value your input, thanks so much! 😊

I splurged at Christmas time and got an odyssey hook from Furls. I think it was $36 plus shipping of course. It doesn’t fit in my hand and it’s too slippery. I prefer the ergonomic handles with a thumb pad so I can keep my hook straight when I’m not looking at it. I’m glad I only got one. Everyone’s hand and styles are different so your experience may be different. YMMV ( your mileage may vary - I learned that from my teenager). I think I got seduced by the price. It’s cost so much it must be wonderful! Thanks Jen!

I haven’t any furls mainly because the hook dhaft is short & has the gradual thinning towards the hook itself. Ehich means I wld not get consistent stitch sizes. They look beaut but for less $$ the Ommi or Divit give a cinsistent stitch plus I can make tunisian crochet mitre squares with them😊 Ommi & Divit make the beaut resin in too. One could go bonkers trying to find the “ultimate” hook! All my own unsolicited opinion!

My cookies n cream resin hook had the great misfortune of dropping to a hospital floor. Hook tip snapped off. They did send me a replacement...and it really looks like it was slapped together with little care. Not many black swirls. $40 (Canada)
I find Ommi on amazon, $15 each, and it's the thick middle that I need (cannot stand stick hooks), it arrived today, and I'm so impressed, I'm adding the other colors to the cart.

Hello Jen! Good review of the two brands. I have three Furls hooks, two wooden ones and a Pride hook. I have not used them much because of the yarn I was working with (worsted cotton) didn't like the hooks. Furls is a nightmare for my tighter tension. Ommi seems to be similar to Pyrm Egronomics in terms of the sharper heads. If that so be the case then Ommi would be a better choice for me.
I am also a knife holder. A lot of people don't talk about how tension affects use. Looser tension people seem to have luck with furls.
Eta: Can you do a close up on stich definition? That matters a lot to me. I noted like Pyrm, Furls tends to create these tall, thin stitches that can be quite spaced. It doesn't bother me none as due to tension I actually need such to be able to better meet guage requirements of various patterns.

I am new'ish so still using aluminum straight hooks, and am doing fine. But I just learned about Furls seconds, or whatever they're called. Should be here this week. 😁
And I will add Ommi to my list. Doesn't hurt to try new things, right?

My Diagnostic Lab Tests textbook cost me $85.00 USED, & I thought that was a lot..... I'm in grad school, everything I buy goes by this rule of mine "How long do I have to work (as a nurse, not easy) to pay for this? For me, the Furls Alpha is not worth how hard Ive got to work. I'm gonna try the Ommis, I have 3 Prym & oodles of Clover 🍀 hooks,
