The guy waving flag was actually telling the driver it is safe to move off, not really the departure signal, which is sent by computers..... They put a man there after some incidents of passengers stuck between screen doors and train.....
8:47 If you notice that white signals at Baoshan Rd Station on the right, that is for line 4(Inner circle) separated from line 3's track. During the process, line 4 moved in a relatively slower speed since it heads to the feeder track. After separates from line 3's track, line 4(the inner circle) will head into the tunnel. 0:33 Same as for the line 4 outer circle at Hongqiao Rd Station
Train models from early 2000's are considered older here. In New York subway trains from 1968 are still running and they are even not the oldest in service.
@Darth Nihilus yeah but you're also not supposed to "upgrade" to new ones every 10 years... Metro cars are often expected to stay in service for 50 years or longer... They're not smartphones, they're trains
As someone who was born and lived in Shanghai for seven years before migrating to Australia both line 6 and 8 are my favorite metro lines. Since these 2 were connected to where I lived in Shanghai. The metro design in my opinion is also one of the coolest
Very cool, but if you ever visit Beijing, you should definitely check out the metro, one of the best in the world in my opinion. It's just amazing how they handle the 9 million commuters everyday.
Thank you for the duo high quality production, it reminds me my time spent at SISU. Gee, it brought back so much memories - some of the lines in this video I simply do not recognise ;)
Since line 4 is a circular subway line, the question is how you are gonna identify the inner circle and outer circle. Here are some ideas for you. 1)The outer circle moves in anticlockwise while the inner one moves in clockwise. 2)There are five major stations for line 4(Shanghai Indoor Stadium, South Xizang Road, Central Avenue, Shanghai Railway Station and Zhongshan Park). After departing from Yishan Rd. Station(the main station), the outer circle will pass the Shanghai Indoor Stadium first, then South Xizang Road, Central Avenue, Shanghai Railway Station and Zhongshan Park. The inner circle, on the other hand, will pass the Zhongshan Park first, then Shanghai Railroad Station, Central Avenue, South Xizang Road, and then Shanghai Indoor Stadium. You can judge it based on the announcement or the indicator. 3) Since parts of the line 4 track share with line 3, the outer circle moves along line 3 heading to Shanghai South Railway Station while the inner one moves along the one heading to North JiangYang Road/South Changjiang Road. If these methods still don't work for you, you can go to the service desk to ask for help.
I am compiling a video of railroad networks across Asia. I have not had a chance to film this system and was wondering if I could use 30 seconds of your footage? I would be more than happy to list your channel as credits under the description once I put out the video. :)
I like it how the line 4 train's door blinking is so Oof and the line 3 trains look more modern. I just love Shanghai. Its my hometown. Btw are you german?
now all elevated stations have screen doors now. if you have any plans visiting Shanghai again, Line 1 ground stations-- Lianhua Road is one of the most famous stations to videoing Metros and Line 5 interchaning at Xinzhuang Station( 2 stations away from Lianhua) has the most beautiful scene views in my point, trains drive across high green trees like in a forest
Very well done. Just how easy or not is it to interchange train sets [consists] from one line to another.? Tunnel heights in subways, Radius of turns versus car lengths, widths, track gauges, voltages, doors and platform gates, ....

luft brother i love shanghai metro since all the country lock down hopefully next year 2022 hope australia can open international border so that i can going to shanghai now i miss shanghai and my family
The train info is good but user info would be really useful. Signs in English on stns and trains, ticket purchase arrangements etc. Do the trains typically provide info about where you are and route details?
6:19 jeez that sounded exactly like the traction sound of the North-East line C751A stock train in Singapore!! :O The both trains are from Alstom, for sure.
JD Videos I LOVE this sound. They're adding a new type of trains to line3 which is exactly the type of line11. Our german BR422 local train also sounds like that.
Here in São Paulo (Brazil), we have the F series ("Frota F") trains with exactly the same sound. But they seem to be quite louder than the Shanghai ones.
Good video but actually the stops of most lines don't look like these. Line 3 and 4 are two light rail trains in Shanghai metro system. The others are all equipped with full-sealed screen doors..
Now all elevated stations of Line 4 is now equipped platform gates
They were ziptied lol
They are already operational.
13:08 LOL!!!!! :D😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

NY subway is not even a true world class metro but a heavy rail commuter line. It is terrible.
I consider the Metro-North railroad as a commuter line. Not the NYC subway.
Tornexted That's because you didn't set foot yet inside a true world class metro in a city like Hong Kong or Tokyo or Paris.
The NYC subway is almost 100 years older than Shanghai's metro -- it's the same thing for most metro transit systems in western countries.

I love Shanghai metro, super clean and efficient. The only thing I dont like is the last trains finish too early.
hahahaha most of the trains stopped at 11:30. But to some lines with less capability and servise quantity, it closed earlier
0:48 oh wow, handsome young man
13:09 some sort of fireworks in the background.
13:55 The AC14 motors sound a lot like the Class 800s and 385s here in the UK
Jesus I see my aunt's apartment which I lived there for 2 years 3:49

Line 4 Propulsion sounds almost like a mix of the R160B and R143!
13:00 omg train go already!!

You can also transfer to line6 apart from the line 2 and 9 shown in the video
Will there be a part 3?
Sorry, there will be no part III, unless I travel to Shanghai again.

2020 trains are cool in shape and sounds
at 4:08 when the train was approtching the platform it sounded like the MTA tracks when entering the station
LOL. Why did I look at the White shirted guy. I thought it was him when you wrote at the middle of the platform. Haha
Hope you visit Kuala Lumpur and Singapore one day and try out the mrt. Kuala lumpur's new mrt line is opening next year
I been in all shanghai subway lines
Seriousgamer 135 same, but line 5 is difficult in rush hour
Seriousgamer 135 there is a new line me (and maybe you) need to try out.
Is there any reason why it takes forever for the doors to close and the train to depart?
Shanghai Subway seems to be very clean. What do you say about it?

hey can you PLS do a vlog at sydney trains
They use ac motor
I went to shanghai to see my grand parents and we had to take a train and man it was crowed with people when we go to our stop
This . . . and mag-lev is what NYC might be wrestling with.
jufeng road, when I was a kid that's the station I wait for the train to go to school.
How old were you? That station's fairly new.
10:29 Peak hours: "Lemme intoduce myself."
to much motorbike
Hongqiao road is the high speed station
위해 다시

These trains sound like an M7 with a R160B.
the doors are so slow , it´s like to sleep a siesta !
