    I did this very same trip not long ago with the previous generation of trains with the oval seats in business class… it was just an amazing travel. My Chinese skill is poor and the personnel in business class did not speak English but were very friendly and pamper me. I’d definitely choose HST over planes anytime in China, so much more comfortable and convenient !
    The only service that can compete in France is the Business Premier on the Eurostar, the rest is just plane crap ! I wish the SNCF people would take the train in China to understand how bad the service they’ve giving…

      Thank you for watching, I agree with your point. For this distance, taking the high-speed train is definitely a better option. However, many people feel that the service could be improved, especially the food, which often doesn't match the ticket price.

    Is there any way to be allocated to the superior seats in carriage 1 over the ones in carriage 17?

    • @Hankstracks
      @Hankstracks  16 дней назад

      I’m not sure if you can specify the carriage at the station’s ticket counter, as it’s been many years since I last purchased a ticket there. Currently, the official ticketing app and website do not offer an option to choose a specific carriage. The usual method is as follows: after confirming your order, you can check the assigned seat. If the seat is in carriage 17, you can cancel the order before payment and place a new one. However, keep in mind that you can only cancel up to three orders per day. After exceeding this limit, you will not be able to purchase tickets through the website or app for the rest of the day.

    Funny thing is that in China,most travelers prefer trains over plane💀

    • @Hankstracks
      @Hankstracks  6 дней назад +1

      One possible reason is that the efficiency of China's civil aviation is relatively low. For example, the actual flight time from Beijing to Shanghai is only 2 hours, but China's airports are usually large and located far from city centers. During peak times, check-in and security checks often involve long queues, and passengers need to arrive at the airport much earlier. Additionally, flight delays are common, and the entire journey can take 4 to 5 hours. In contrast, high-speed rail stations are typically closer to city centers, and passengers don't need to arrive as early. Moreover, high-speed trains have an excellent on-time performance, with the fastest train between Beijing and Shanghai taking less than 4.5 hours. Therefore, considering the overall travel time, which is about the same or even shorter than flying, many people prefer to take the more comfortable high-speed train.

    • @Hankstracks
      @Hankstracks  17 дней назад +4

      Japan's public transportation punctuality is truly impressive and can easily rival Switzerland's. As for China’s regular trains, delays are quite common, but overall, China’s high-speed rail system is still remarkably punctual. Regarding the bidet toilet you mentioned, I’ve never seen the European-style ones in China, but nowadays, many high-end malls and airport lounges are equipped with Washlets. If you asked a Chinese person to choose between a bidet and a squat toilet, they’d probably choose the latter, as they believe it’s more hygienic since there’s no direct contact.

      Chinese writings are more complicated than alphabets so, A or B or C... is easy for the Chinese to recognise

    • @Hankstracks
      @Hankstracks  28 дней назад

      @sendmrtube Thanks for watching! Not every Chinese can read English, but Chinese Pinyin includes letters like "a" and "b," which, although pronounced differently from English, are familiar to most people who’ve had at least elementary or even kindergarten education. For many, finding the boarding gate mostly depends on the numbers in front or behind. Nowadays, many Chinese high-speed trains have 16-carriage formations, and the "A" and "B" gates usually refer to carriages 1-8 and 9-16, or sometimes the other way around. As long as you find the right number, like A10 or B10, you can still board even if the gates are on opposite sides. But once you get to the platform, you might need to walk a bit farther in the opposite direction to reach your carriage.

      Thank you for watching. I fully acknowledge that Japan is the pioneer in high-speed rail, and even today, China's high-speed rail system still has some gaps in terms of design details and service levels compared to Japan. However, I believe using the term "steal" is clearly inaccurate, as Japan did receive patent fees during the initial technology transfer. If improving purchased technology is considered "stealing," then by that logic, since China invented gunpowder, can I say that all ammunition technology worldwide is "stolen" from China?

    • @NoriNori-m4u
      @NoriNori-m4u 4 часа назад

The Hungarian language is much more nuanced, more precise than the rather primitive American-English, which is the language of the translation program!

    • @Hankstracks
