0:17 ahhhh what remains of the old East Berlin The world clock and the TV Tower. I hope to pay a visit one day and reminisce the good old days of OST Berlin The days when you could go up the TV Tower without having to queue on that long queues The days when you could go on the U-bahn with only a few pfennigs.
i was about month ago in berlin for a week and travelled with u-bahn and s-bahn everyday. i already miss travelling with them, hearing the motors of the trains going on, hearing the woman's and man's voice telling which station you're on and which station is the next. ah i really loved it. i want to go back there asap.
@@BLACKSTA361 I don’t know because I’ve never ridden them in my life, I’d love to come to Berlin and ride the U bahn and S bahn one day, though I’ve been recommended online to steer clear of Kottbusser Tor and Golitzerpark, though apparently other areas of kreuzburg are ok these days according to quora. If you are from Berlin do you have any suggestions where to go and where to not go? Cheers.
So good to see this again. I've been to Alexanderplatz in February 2018 and miss every minute of this trip. Excellent filming! And at 4:48, the Deutsche-Bahn train sounds like a tenor saxophone doing a scale. LOL Cheers from São Paulo, Brazil.
the power converters on these siemens locomotives have been programmed to sound like a d-major scale. it’s not even accidental, siemens has officially done it so that it’s a more pleasant sound instead of just a loud hum.
Tolles Video, danke!
Thanks for the high quality vid ! I've visited Berlin 2 years ago, have been to Alexander Platz and Berlin Hbf.......so amazed with the train there, they are neat and tidy~ the U and S-Bahn + tram are great. I want to visit Berlin Hbf again, the station is huge and aesthetic , I'm amazed with those platforms they built above ground. Watching inter-city/ high speed/ S-bahn train share the same level of platform is interesting, its like a toy box with many model trains running through.
Wow I've been to Berlin just several days ago and Alexanderplatz was my favourite transportation hub ( I used to live at Hermannplatz). So cool to see this again
I love the lighting and colored walls in the underground and that the trains are bright yellow. Even though you are underground it looks like it feels relatively light and airy.
Damion Mandy Berlin had a very fast clean up Like new York, too!!! Very dirty and criminal..but ahm..we are germans..we are faster and we build for staying...when it s old,we make it new,in the US i think ,they somewhere else something new..
Your comment suprises me a little. I arrived to Alexander platz when I visited Berlin the first time and actually the station and the surrounding area felt very rough, kinda soviet and poor. It turned out that it wasn't representative of the rest of Berlin.
Was in Berlin for the first time a few months ago was really worried about using the ubahn (visiting from the UK) but found it so easy to use, only took wrong train once and ended up at the end of the line, but retraced steps and found my way back to end destination and didn't go out of the 2hour ticket time .
As of December 4, 2020, the part of the video description that says the U5 terminates at Alexanderplatz is no longer accurate. The U5 has been extended and now terminates at Hauptbahnhof.
Really nice! If you had filmed this one day later, we might have met, as I was in Berlin, and even changed from U2 to U5 at Alexanderplatz in the evening! Besides, the train at 12:25 is for Kaulsdorf-Nord not Hönow ;)
Wilhelmsen Hölderlin idk what you mean but I’m guessing you’re talking about that one guy with the blue shirt in the background who was trying to get on the train but got rejected

did the band U2 name themselves after the Underground line? That pompous twerp Bono credited himself with singlehandedly bringing down the Berlin Wall didn't he.
A question for Berliners or Germans familiar with the situation. I have watched the different channels with both S Bahn and U Bahn and observed the passengers. I see almost no person over 50 in age. I see almost no person, man or woman dressed in what I would call business attire (suits for men, with or without tie, and skirts and shoes with heels on a woman). Most are in casual clothes. I know Frankfurt is your financial capital, but Berlin must have government staff, some bankers, and real estate brokers and lawyers, no? Are they all in taxis or hired cars with drivers? These videos on You Tube show mostly the young, the tourist, and students, artists, and so forth, on the local transit trains.
John Morrison Most of the parts in the berlin Videos are in in the City-Center,and the richtig West germans/europeans gentreficated the former Population
First, in Berlin there is a Train System called S-Bahn. The majority of their tracks are located overground, but there are also tunnel sections. In the outer boroughs of berlin, other railroads are used. Berlin also has a tram system, which primary is located in the eastern part of the city. Both of them are not compatible to the Metro, called U-Bahn. I hope, I could help you.
+Mysterium oh very useful, thx. So I see the S-Bahn run on both overground and underground, tram is another type of transportation system. From video, I saw the S-Bahn tunnel sections stations looked very old, I think it was built in long time ago?
The oldest sections were built at the end of the 19th century, a circle railway line around the innner City and a viaduct railway between east and and west. On this is the Station you can see between 1:51 and 6:26 in this Video. Also, in the 1930s, there was North-south tunnel built. These are the 3 main sections of the Berlin S-Bahn.
16:14 i love how polite they were and kept the door-frame clear so that people could walk in. the dude didnt even have to push his way through.

Also much quieter and smoother. I was surprised by how bumpy and rough the NYC subway is.
