  • This is the third and final part of the film about the Métro de Paris.
Today’s part shows some of the most beautiful stations in the system, such as Cité, Arts et Métiers and Gambetta. It also shows Line 11, which is operated with the oldest stock still in regular service, the MP59.
    Enjoy!
Filmed on 2 July, 2015. Shot on iPhone 6+.

Love this city. Always enjoy the trains. Actually recognise most of the station's. We usually take random trains & get off wherever, & always find somthing interesting.

Hello I'm answering for your request at 6:34. From up to down :
    -the actual time
-the time of departure (here it has to leave in one second)
-the number of the train for the line (59 means the 59's service)
    -521 : I don't know yet
-A : period of the day : in Paris's metro you have four periods : A rush hour beetween 4 PM to 7 PM ; B rush hour beetween 7 AM to 9 AM ; C all days and week-ends ; D for the opening (5 AM to 7 AM) and closing (8 PM to 1 or 2 AM). The lines 3bis, 7bis, 10 and 11 have only two periods : A for rush hours and B for all the time
-+00:06 : the train is 6 seconds late

The numbers over the signals are speed limit (kph)

The latch on those 1960s Paris subway cars, are weird. I'd never seen subway cars like that, in any city I'd been to. But hey, CTA(Chicago) subway cars had inward opening doors until the late 60s/early 70s(the last railcar series with this was the 2200 series), which many often said were weird.
And the MF88s at 9:35, have doors that remind me of the London subway cars. Finally, those globe station lights over the platform at 1:35, are really cool! Hope I get to visit Paris, someday.

Are the rubber tires solid or air filled?

    • @Luftschlange
      @Luftschlange  9 лет назад +4

I'd guess they are air-filled, otherwise the ride would be quite rough.

Great vid but, in my opinion it would be better if you don't cut the part where passengers are boarding to train.

SuperSpotter Thanks. I usually cut that part if it takes a very long time without much action going on.

As a parisian, I can answer to you. Actually, there are automated door opening in the newest carriages..
In the oldest ones, you have to push a button, or raise a latch (like at 3:36) to open the doors.
I frequently use the Paris subway system and I never though that was an inconvenient. We are just used to this.

TheDodoD2: and also, line 13 had automated the doors, so its only the mp59, mf67, mp73 that have manuals, and they’re getting scrapped once the mp14 arrive
