Can’t believe I forgot to include this -> use google to read good and bad personal statements! It’ll give you a great idea of what’s expected (and not expected) of you in your essay. There are all kinds of personal statements floating around on the internet 👍
What package do you recommend worth buying? And which did you use?
Basic revision plus! I didn’t know about myPAresource when I applied and used a different service 😕
Currently applying and this video was super helpful. Wish I saw this in January but better late than never
The problem that I have seen with many students and previous personal statements is that people try to make it seem too scripted, like a Hollywood script. Every single essay I read online, everyone had some existential crisis they were going through, were laying on the cold pavement on a rainy November night after being in a car accident (most times a fender bender exaggerated) which was when they realized they wanted to be a P.A. There isn't any need for that. I was just very straight forward with my statement. As an EMT, I saw the limitations of my job and I wanted to do more, and being a P.A. allows me to have more responsibility and to impact a greater number of people needing medical help. Stop writing these essays that begin with a song lyric, a poem, or just something cory and overdone that they interviewers can see coming a mile away; a direct quote from interviewers when it comes to personal statements. If anyone has any questions or would like to have advice, message me and I will help out any way I can. I wouldn't spend my money on any service to look over your essay, there isn't any need to. Any charging services to review essays for school, practice interviews, that's all noise and it really isn't needed.
Hi are you already a PA. I need to start my personal statement and don’t know where to start
@@laeequaali1053 Hi. I am not a PA as of yet, however, I am a P.A. student. I recently went through the interview process and was accepted into the Yale School of Medicine. What questions do you have specifically? Upfront, I would recommend making an outline of what you want to say in your personal essay. Determine the most relevant facts that would contribute to your essay. Many times people will try to "wow" the admissions committee by having these existential crises and situations in which conveniently was the moment they realized they wanted to become a P.A. Most admission officers can see those essays and answers coming a mile away. Be to the point as to why you want to become a P.A. but do not sound demanding. Be genuine because being able to become a doctor, nurse, or P.A. is a privilege and should be treated as such. Let them into your personal life a little, how you feel you would be a good provider. Did you overcome obstacles to get where you are academically or were you fortunate enough to not have to deal with hardships and were able to focus on school? You do not need to go through hardship to realize you want to be something more in the medical world. Let's talk more about the specifics so I can help you be more confident in your essay.
@@pa-sreyes810 do you have contact information maybe email or Instagram to ask more question about personal statement? I’m applying this coming cycle and don’t even know how to start
hello i'm in need of help with my personal statement as well. would i be able to contact you?
Hello, I am an EMT as well and I'm currently applying to PA schools and I feel the same way.
It was NOT my life long dream to become a PA. And I don't have any corny Hollywood story to write about a rainy afternoon or a childhood memory that made me want to be a PA. Like you, I realized I want to be a PA through personal experiences as I got more into the healthcare field(I started with volunteering).
Thanks for the tips! applying this cycle and hoping to get in. Were you nervous at all that you wouldn't get in anywhere your first time thru?
I appreciate the info. I’ll definitely get my PS professionally reviewed now and get it done early
Like I said, I think it really set me apart!
You rock bro. Thank you so much !
💪💪
this is awesome. Working on my PS now and applying when the next cycle opens!
good luck! make sure you balance your stories with your reflections or maybe you already did since caspa just opened!
@@WriteYourAcceptance Thank you so much, I did. Just waiting on LORs to be submitted and transcripts to come in at this point. : )
@@Thomas_Needs_Coffee nice! good luck!
great info man!
Thanks bro!
Great video! I was wondering what the average length of a personal statement is/how long yours was? Like what would be considered too descriptive vs too short??
I used all 5000 characters. I think it’s wise to use all the space but at the same time not make it feel like you’re writing just to hit the character limit. You can get by with 4500 if you’ve got a well written essay 👍
Do you know if there is somewhere you can read the personal statements of accepted students?
I used google! Read a bunch of personal statements before you start writing. Good ones and bad ones. You’ll get an ides of what yours needs to look like.
DOGS WILL ALWAYS MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER omg be my fwend. It's true it's why I'm a vet tech.
Also great tips bud. Ty.
Haha what an awesome job!
What if one has zero patient care experience ?
Still possible to get into PA school. Some don’t require PCE! You just have to find those programs 👍
Did you apply your junior year or senior year of undergrad? Did you take the GRE in your junior year or senior year of undergrad ? The timeline is a little confusing for me
I applied my senior year, but that’s because I graduated a semester late. If you’re a typical student on track to graduate in may in 4 years, you’ll apply your junior year. You’ll submit your app in the summer between jr and sr year, then programs will interview you during your senior year of school, so if you want to avoid a gap year, apply your junior year so you can go straight into PA school after you graduate from undergrad. I took the GRE a few months before I applied.
Day with a PA that was such a clear answer thank you ! I appreciate it !
can I send mine to you for you to give me your opinion?
Would working as a Physiotherapy Assistant be useful when applying for a PA master's?
I think so! Just to be safe, I’d call a few schools if I were you and see what their thoughts are. Honestly, if you can fill in your description of your job experience on CASPA and make it sound very hands on and direct, I don’t see how they wouldn’t accept it if it is indeed direct and hands on!
can you read yours??
I thought about it but I lost it when my computer crashed a few years ago 😭
In surgery does a pa hand tools to the surgeon?
Camila Puente personally, I am a PA. We kind of do nothing during surgery. We just hand them tools and hope for the best. We really get paid for nothing.
Jack Uminski I guarantee that you haven’t never graduated high school and you probably are dissing the pa career because you can’t become one.
Jack Uminski and you still play fortnite. Are you 12?
Collin Miller my nephew actually made this my profile pic, didn’t actually know what it was until now. funny that it’s fortnite! also why are you being rude? probably a fat man sitting behind a computer screen antagonizing others for your “enjoyment”
Jack Uminski you’re a joke🤦🏿♂️
how is handing tools to surgeons and not actually doing anything?
Jack Uminski bruh don’t be critical just because you can’t do what he does.
Collin Miller why would i be on this irrelevant channel if i didn’t do what he does? i’m just asking a counterpart
If you’re calling it irreverent then get out of here with your toxicity
Glad to see I have haters 😂 “handing tools to surgeons” is great. I’ll make 6 figures not long after I graduate. Being a PA is the #1 job in healthcare for a reason!
Day with a PA i’m very sorry i was drunk
