I daily my A1, you can fit 1x32 scu box down the hall way and atleast an 8 scu box by the rear hatch.....easily can fit 40 scu.....so when you add to that, it's bombs it becomes quite functional as a daily, with added capability. Additionally you can change it's missile racks to hold a few more smaller missiles if you want to use the ship in a support role with other fighters.
I have the C1, upgraded from Nomad just a few weeks ago and I totally LOVE it. Love it for the versatility, the look, how it flies, and yes, the cargo. I don't know if melt the C1 for the A1 will be a good move, especially because I love to have some storage, but those bombs really excites me lol.
The ship regarding bombing is more of a scalpel rather than a hammer (A2) it has it's uses, but can/will become more valuable later in development: I like the smaller bombs, targetting can be confusing. (Also CIG spoke of bombing missions so I guess they will be tailored to both the A2 and the A1)
the gladiator is the baby bomber the a1 is the heavy bomber and the a2 is super bomber! for a bomber it does need 2 shields or a way to double the bottom for bombing runs or something, like turning on a medium generator for a few mins while you do your run
Yes the atmosphere changes it, generally less atmosphere allows for more drift based on your own speed when its dropped, high atmo can create more variablitity in lateral targetting, ive had a bomb fully shift 50m off target on new babbage. I find fast lower drops in high atmo, and higher "slower" consistent speed in lower atmo (dont really need to go slower tbh, the targetting system seems to compensate for anything the ship does fairly well, dont believe it calculates for environmental differential at all.
I tried to do some dog fighting in this, or "defend myself" from a fighter that was attacking me, i couldnt do shit, he was running circles around me and I could get any of my guns to line up. Just a sitting duck if you dont have support.
I got one in a giveaway, so it was "free", tought of using it to upgrade to something else, and after a while i realized its just better than the C1 for random use, you can haul an ROC, you can put some valuable cargo you find in a bounty loose on the back, same flight stats as the C1. Im keeping it and getting rid of the C1, wich for me, 64 SCU of cargo dont strikes me as worth the time to use that hold to actually do cargo runs. Dont get the wrong, for the price, the C1 is awesome, in my case it just does not make sense anymore.
The remote turret is much more engaging for a copilot that the tractor as well. It's fun to do fly bye thefts at jumptown in the c1, but for general play my dad much prefers having a turret

I'm keeping the C1. Having space for ground vehicles, storage, cargo, taxi for a squad, etc., is way better than having bombs. C1 is the daily driver.

Hopefully they will give it the ability to carpet bomb sooner rather than later. Till then im keeping it around purly for its looks😅

I can answer u, the wind affects it, gravity also but the "crosshair" doesnt have it in count so, sometimes work well, sometimes not.
