I only use light power and medium light power rods for all my walleye fishing. They range in length from 6' 4" to 7' from moderate to xtra fast action. I really like the St. Croix Eyecon light power 7' spinning rod paired with the Abu Garcia Revo Rocket size 20 spinning reel.

Lots of variables to determine what is ideal in any given situation. I'm guessing you fish mostly lakes and or shallow rivers with less current. Medium and even heavier rods can be useful for deeper faster current as well as fishing heavier wire hooks and plastics. Even if you don't fish heavier lures in deeper current a medium could be good on a windy day when you want a heavier jig so you can feel the lure better. ML is definitely my go to though for casting jigs and most rigging.

*Was very surprised at the sensitivity of this rod **enjoyable.fishing** recommend Was very impressed. And the extendable handle really lets you get a great casting action.*

    My lineup:
--6'9" mlf Fenwick hmg for Lindy rigs, jigs and slip Bobbers.
--7' mhf Fenwick eagle for pulling bottom bouncers
--8'6" ml Cabela's depth master for cranking

My favorite rods for those techniques
-6'10" ML XF Cabelas Prodigy Walleye Rod for jigs and casting crankbaits.
-7'2" M F Fenwick Elite Tech Rigging rod
7'10" M MF Okuma Deadeye CBR telescoping rod for crawler harnesses and trolling cranks
Those rods are a bit cheaper than the St. Croix tournament rods and about the same as the St. Croix Eyecon rods.

Wish I had that kind of money lol .... I have a 7ft fenwick medium fast ... I matched it with a diawa regal 3000, I use power pro braid line on it 10lb or 15lb test (probably don't need 10lb or 15lb test but I like to use a little heavier test line because I've saved a lot of expensive lures from snags using a bit heavier line, it's a bummer getting a snag on 6lb or 8lb test, ive lost a lot of expensive lures that's way) .. it's a fairly versatile rod ..I like my fenwick, I caught a decent 2lb walleye from the bank the other day with it, I was using a plastic deep dive crank bait. (I was using the deep dive and the bill was, kind of bouncing off of the bottom, I was having no luck with the 4ft to 8ft depth crank baits so I switched it up, im guessing I was only fishing in 3 to 10ft of water, I also use a 7ft Berkly as well, it's a stiffer and cheaper pole but not horrible for the price. I also have a 6ft diawa pole matched with a daiwa 2000 series reel. .. I'm still learning walleye, it can definitely be a challenging fish. Good vid, really nice setup you have ! I'll subscribe because I see a lot more walleye fishing in my future.

If you can’t go 6’8” for jigging is it better to go up to 7 or down to 6’6??

Before I even watch this commercial I can tell you you can get by with two rods and maybe only one. n One 7' medium light for jigging and throwing smaller lures, bates or even trolling lighter lures and one 6 1/2 - 7' med hvy for jigging heavier jigs or lures and trolling heavier lures or baits. The lighter outfit should be a spinning and the heavier can be either spinning or casting. I would use a 6 or 8 lb. test line of your choice on the light rig and 10 or 12 lb on the hvy rig. Let me see how many thumbs down and rebuttals I can get now from guys that think you have to load your boat with a bunch of rods and reels.

Buy these rods but you'll need a second mortgage! Over $1200 if you want these 4.

He is a guide with a sponsor. Us peons get the lesser models. I suggest Fenwick, they have lifetime warranty on the mid range rod. The Elite tech Walleye rods are soo nice to use. Check them out!

$10k on a boat, $300 on a fishing trip, your dad broke one of your rods unloading the boat, you spend your whole trip casting in brush, and stumps with your spinning combo. That's so smart....Take at least 4 rods.
