WOW! This is the only video that I have found that shows how to remove the xenon bulb that doesn't just twist out the back of the light assembly! Thank you so much for this video! I thought I was going crazy as all these other CCs (same year, 09, VR6. ) And those just twist out, no bumper removal, no funky wire retainer. Why does this car and mine have such a difficult design?
You and I had a more expensive option that came with the HID's and adaptive headlights. These are the type of headlights that move left and right with your steering to provide better visibility around corners. I am not 100% sure but I believe they also move up and down while on hills or steep roads. This is why yours and ours are much more difficult to replace than the regular ones. Our headlights are much more expensive as well if you had to ever replace the whole housing. Thank you for watching and providing us with great feedback!
This is so ridiculous. I can’t wait to get rid of this car!😭 what was supposed to be a quick $20 fix just turned into having to pay almost $200 to fix one headlight because there’s no way I can do this myself. Will never buy/recommend a Volkswagen again! (This is just the cherry on top of all the other issues I’ve had with this car since I’ve owned it). Now just hoping I don’t get pulled over before I can have it replaced🙄 thanks for the video though! I KNOW RIGHT! I would seriously like to sit down with the design engineer that came up with this set up and the supervisor that signed off on it. I don't think the adaptive lighting benefits are that great to counter the effort needed to replace the.bulb. I didn't even know that I had this type of lighting.

Salut Razvan! How do you take out the parking light bulb from this type of headlight without taking the unit out? I have the same ones, with the H7 shining from the side around the corners. A parking bulb has gone and I can reach to the back of it where I can see a thin, flexible bit of plastic to which the bulb plug is attached to. I can turn it, but it doesn't release it.
Is it going to be the exact same process for a 2007 VW Passat with 2.0T engine and the adaptive lighting with xenon bulbs? What size of ratchet do I need for the bolts? Need to make sure I get the right size (1/2 inch or 3/8?) Of 10 inch extension, etc

I'm not sure what those are to be honest. But overall it's a pretty straightforward process. If something isn't coming undone there is a screw somewhere that wasn't taken off
I don't think that would work due to the design. Also when you change one of the headlight bulbs its good to change the other so that they look the same and usually go out at about the same time so you don't have to do all this work just for one of them and then do it again when the other goes out.
I love this car! Looks good, fun to drive, nice handling, comfortable, and pretty quick! Yeah I decided to just do it myself (like a lot of other things) instead of paying others to do it for me lol. What do you drive now?

My bulbs keep falling out. I understand there’s a metal clip that holds it in place correct? I’ve entered the bulb groves into the housing ones and I turn to the right to lock but it’s not locking ?
Bryant Giron The system they used for vw is very complex and hard to figure out. I don’t really remember if it’s clockwise or counter clockwise that you have to turn, but you have to turn it either right or left until it locks into place and then you put back the covers and all. I’ll do some research and see what I find out and if I find anything I’ll reply again with more help
So apparently when you put the bulb back in you need to put it all the way in to the housing, and then turn it 90 degrees clockwise until it basically clicks back into place and locks in. At that point when you tug on it, it should stay locked in and shouldn’t come out. Try this and let me know how it goes. If it doesn’t work you might have put the actual bulb into the little black box that holds it with the tabs wrong, which may cause it to not fit properly into the headlight housing. Keep messing with it and turning it until it locks in. Keep me updated!

Bryant Giron So they’re staying locked in now? Yeah I’ve had some problems with the little black holder thing before where I didn’t insert the bulb correctly in it and it wouldn’t lock in. I’m surprised you didn’t have it before, didn’t know the bulb would even stay in without it! I try my hardest to answer as quick as I can (sometimes hard with school and work) especially on this video where people need help while working on the car. It can be frustrating to change the bulbs especially on a fairly rare car with very little or no videos on RUclips on how to do it.

So you are Just able to change the whole headlight on the driver side without removing the Bump? If yes, this would be the best shit ever, cause my left headlight is broken.

In Black...but the lense/projector on the left side was wobbeling...i tried to Fix it on my own...well that escalated Quickly and i destroyed it....more or less. Haha right now i have 360 000 tsd Kilometer in the speedometer ... well thats how we would say it un germany, ita a nice car. If it dies, i will buy the newer passat 🤣
I have a 2007 VW Passat 2.0 T that appears to have the same caps with the metal clamp on the back of the headlight housing as the ones in this video. All the DIY videos for the bulb replacement (of the non-B6) have a rubber cap you simply pull off. Wtf?
This was the process for the passat models that came with the Bi Xenon Curve-Adaptive Headlights. Most vw passat models don’t have these headlights, so the headlight bulb changing process is very easy and doesn’t require all this work.

Problema cred ca este când ai pus becul. La vw (si modelu asta) trebe sa împingi becul in far si sa îl întorci ca si cum ai înfileta ca un șurub, este ciudat. Nu stiu in ce direcție trebe exact, clockwise sau counter-clockwise, dar trebe împins înăuntru si întors, si dupaia intra in poziție becul. Înțelegi ce zic?
Am înțeles, deci practic îl introduc cu mufa in sus și după îl rotesc pana ajunge cu mufa in jos. Mulțumesc mult. Mi-a mai zis cineva ca trebuie rotit dar nu eram sigur.

Eu la mașina am un buton ESP OFF lângă maneta de viteze (este automată) care poți să-l ți apăsat și dupaia zice ESP OFF la bord. Ești sigur ca nu ai apăsat pe buton din greșeală? Nu văd cum farul ar putea sa afecteze ESP-ul. Măcar farul merge acuma?

I don't think that would work due to the design. Also when you change one of the headlight bulbs its good to change the other so that they look the same and usually go out at about the same time so you don't have to do all this work just for one of them and then do it again when the other goes out.
Yeah you can. I removed the top screws from the headlight and some from the middle grill then you pop out the headlight outside to make enough space.

If you want to change just the headlight bulb, then you don’t have to remove the bumper. But I think you do in order to change the actual housing too.

You have the factory bi-xenon lights? Those bulbs cannot be removed without removing the bumper and headlight housings. We’ve tried every way hahaha

Unfortunately, yeah. They don’t come out on the passenger side, so because of that you have to spend an extra 2-3 hours 🤦🏻♂️

Eu as lua alt far. Dar dacă faza scurta merge bine, l-aș lăsa in pace ca e prea mult de lucru
