    have you heard of mouth taping at night ? the Buteyko method showed how important it is to tape mouth by night since most people hyperventilate without realizing (most likely due to chronic bad posture).

    The way you speak reaches far beyond the subject of orthodontics, very inspiring. I realize that I've been practicing the tongue to the roof position wrong the whole time, I'll put great effort into keeping my teeth together and tongue to the roof to hopefully cure my TMJ and headache problems.

    • @mostsacredangel
      @mostsacredangel 6 лет назад +1

      What do you mean!? "Practicing the tongue posture wrong"? I thought that Putting great effort to keep the teeth together and tongue in the roof isnt good at all, you just have to slight keep your teeths/mounths, and tongue together withouth much effort, bcause it can cause damage.

    The problem with trying constantly to "stand straight" is that most people dont even know what it is and will over do it.
    The solution to this is to activate some core muscles and the ass basically xd, that make you stand straight, and also dont overdoing neck posture either (lowering your chin too much is bad too)
    So knowing that there may or may not be something that help with having good jaw posture that isnt in fact near the jaw 🤔

    would you recommend the myoresearch "TMJ Appliance" to treat and potentially cure tmj over time?

  • @AngryPistons
    @AngryPistons 6 лет назад +4

    Your explanation of 'showing' the joint over time, what the correct posture is, which will in time bring it back to where it should be... is what my tmj specialist will be doing to me. I will be wearing a night splint that he has designed where my bottom teeth will be held slightly forward, but always under the top teeth. Over time, it should move back into place. I obviously haven't explained it as well as you have but I think its more or less the same.

    • @Syed-wj4pj
      @Syed-wj4pj 3 года назад

      yes, but if you look into other videos my john mew he advises against using a splint for more than few months.

    I am currently trying to cure my TMD with Somatic Education. It uses so called "Pandiculations" (1. contract 2. slowly release 2. completely relax) to reset muscle tone, which makes the position of muscles and joints reset to their natural position. It already cured my back problems (which were probably caused by my TMD). It is important to release back, abs, waist muscles first, after that the Jaw muscles can be targeted. It is learning at neurological level, so it helps with the problem of adapting which you refered to, This might be very helpful to cure TMD! If anyone is interested I would suggest you to get the book "Somatics" by Thomas Hannah.

      This sounds like the same theory of "Egoscue exercises" from the book "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. About ten years ago, I used the positions and exercises in his TMJ series to re-align my skeleton from toe to head, which re-hung my jaw and cured the clicking and cheek biting I'd been suffering! Alas, my jaw has finally started to decline again in my middle age, so I am trying mewing.

    As a patient I an interested in knowing whether or not this approach to treating TMD is substantiated with radiographic imaging. Is there research/case studies demonstrating that this othrotropic approach to treating TMD can indeed cause remodeling of the mandible and TMJs? Does this research include radiographic imaging such as a CBCT/CT? Very interested in an answer to this.

    Wow, thank you very much doctor, I'm 27 and as soon as I discovered them, removed my premolars in my first orthodontic treatment and now I'm in the second one but it hasn't been of any use, Maybe just to wear out the roots, my jaw cracks every time I open my mouth and it is displaced a little, originally my upper teeth were displaced to one side and The Down teeths was fine, I don't know when I started chewing only with one side and my muscles on that side were very tense, today my cheeks are more manageable , today i start with the mewing, in 10 days I will turn 28, sorry for the English, I am with the translator 😅 Greetings from Mexico

    • @Kitsunary
      @Kitsunary 4 года назад +1

      Your tongue should support your head. If they don't touch properly, just have them barely touch where you want them and use your entire tongue pushing against the palate to keep the rest of your teeth floating.

    • @Kitsunary
      @Kitsunary 4 года назад +1

      Depends on the pain. There should be muscle soreness and a little tooth ache isn't a problem, but the focus should be on the entire tongue touching the palate and the teeth should only be barely touching. Make sure to not push against the teeth.
