My oldests childs partners birthday was on February 29th (pretty sure I said that correctly 🤔) so I wanted to gifted them something special. Their favorite color is purple.
I remembered a purple blanket I had originally loom knitted for myself awhile back, stuck in a tote & there it has remained, unused for far too long. I thought PERFECT & switched their gift last minute!
I find the tote, pull it out & think out loud to my kid as we are unrolling it to take a peek, "this doesn't look right. It should be longer & it shouldn't have yellow yarn running through the one end".
You probably know where this is leading. I either ran out of the color I was using or needed the loom to make another blanket for another child. So I looked up how to halt your project to restart later.
Here I am holding this gorgeous purple ombre afghan with suttle pink hues throughout. Unfortunately, it was only 2/3 complete with this contrasting yellow string running through the end of it so I could finish it "later". But that was like 5 years ago!! I had absolutely no clue how to finish it, moreover finish it quickly because it was the 29th & about 30 minutes to gift giving time 😂😂😂😂
I decided to just tie off the yellow yarn at both ends as tight as I could, sent apologies that it was too short but said that it was made with lots of love & to keep an eye on the one end just in case it came loose. Thankfully they loved it! Or at least they said they did, which is good enough for me. I also sent a backup silly video game everyone could play together.
My oldest messages me tonight with a picture of a crochet Lego blanket. I said cool, have fun with that. I immediately get a response back saying no Mom, can you PLEASE make this for me PRETTY PLEASE 🙏 🙏 🙏 I lost it laughing. I'm like, that's a completely different skill set!!! I can loom knit exactly 1 pattern (and I feel like loom knitting is kinda cheating. Yes, it takes about 80 hours to do an afghan big enough to actually use, but still) I wouldn't know what to do with crochet needles/hooks if I had them. And my hands would be dead within 10 minutes!! I never did get a reply, so maybe they are purchasing & trying themselves? Freaking kids, they're a trap 🤣😂🤣
Also another reason I am so envious of your vast knowledge & acquired skill sets!!! Honestly and truly, I admire your depth of knowledge. 🙆♀️🙇♀️🙆♀️🙇♀️
I pick up Beanies Babies, Beanie Boos, Webkinz- I know they're not worth much, but they're fun to list, easy to ship and they're just too cute to pass up at the bins! :D just a little nostalgic
Just a fun fact: elephant scarf was a University of Alabama Tuscaloosa scarf. It’s most famous coach was Bear Bryant who always wore a houndstooth fedora.

Oh, keep the red plaid blazer! Just roll up the sleeves and wear them at 3/4 length. I have long monkey arms and that's what I do. By the way, I was staring at the hard-to-read label on the Dillard's dress and suddenly I saw the words "Go Softly." I just looked and there are a few on eBay, and one of them I found (a "plaid night dress") has a very clear picture of the same logo and, to me, it is much easier to read.
That is what I believe it says. 60-90s blazers most were made with shorter sleeves on purpose actually to allow the lady to show off her jewelry worn around the wrists (so it’s probably not your arms being too long 💕). I don’t wear jewelry so I prefer the whole arm covered.
Love the haul! Just wondering, when you wash your hats with the hat buddy in your dishwasher, do you use dishwasher soap?
Yes! If the staining is significant I will do my normal stain treatment before putting it in there, but regular dishwasher soap works. Then I hang the hat in the buddy outside on the line and it smells fresh when it’s dry
