Yeah, it's a great looking phone. I've gotta be honest. I just wish I could use my Apple Watch with it. Goddamnit I want to be able to use my Apple Watch with android. I would have bought that phone otherwise.
Google hit it out the park this year, the phones really look stunning. Being an iOS user for a long time now, I am feeling a little more open minded to possibly switching from iPhone in the coming years.
Got mine a few days ago. So far, I really like it. I was impressed by the transition from my older phone. The Pixel setup process even automatically set up the new esim with my carrier. In a minute or two my new phone was on my carriers network and ready for use.
Hi Aaron, i'm glad you can use newer phones with PWM. Lot of the communicty still can't use a phone with PWM. The Google Pixel line up is one of the worst phones with PWM. The Pixel 9 series utilizes 240Hz PWM dimming across the board, meaning the Pixel now has the slowest PWM rate on any flagship phone. We know that Pixel displays can push this number 20x higher, so we're not sure why Google hasn't made any positive changes yet. The iPhone 15 pro and Pro max uses 480Hz PWM and even the Samsung S24 switched to 480Hz PWM. Motorola, Xiaomi, Honor, Nothing and Oneplus have phones with DC dimming options or have 2000Hz PWM or even higher till 4800Hz. Thank you for keep mentioning PWM. I think more people should be aware of this issue. And hopefully Google, Apple and Samsung will follow the Chinese brands and make more eye friendly screens.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max is probably on its last legs now that this new phone has come out. I think I'm going to give Apple a break for a couple of years until they catch up with developments. The iPhone is starting to get boring, and that's coming from someone who's been with Apple for over 10 years.

Googles warning to be careful what you say to it raises some privacy red flags for me. Read the user agreement. Or just turn it off. Then it's retained only 72 hours Thanks for these videos!

I really like their camera array on the back. That image generation looks really quick too. Let's see if it stays that fast as more people get their hands on these devices.
Looking forward to your full review. I had a Pixel 2XL long ago but kept on having WiFi issues. Switched to iPhone because it just worked. I’m probably wrong but to me it seems the Apple iPhone updates lately are just meh. I really would consider switching to a Pixel 9 Pro XL.
As someone from Zambia, I understand that for people living in developed countries, it might be hard to dislike the Google Pixel. But for those of us in Africa, and many other parts of the world, it's all too easy. Google just doesn’t seem to care about markets like ours. They don’t sell here, and it's clear we’re not a priority. Sure, they cater to India, but that's only because of the country’s wealthy elite-a small group that gets overlooked due to the glaring inequality. But even then, Google doesn’t have an official presence there. They just ship the parts, and the local manufacturers handle the rest. For those living in places where the Pixel ecosystem is sold, it’s easy to love it. But for us, where it isn’t even available, we’re better off importing a Chinese phone or sticking with Samsung or Apple. The frustration of being overlooked by these big companies is real.
Just ordered mine will be here tomorrow. Been using apple for the last 8 years (13 pro max currently) but my last android was the galaxy S5. Apple has become stagnant to me the same UI and feel for the last 8 years, ready for something new.
I'm leaning towards switching to a Pixel 9 Pro XL from my 2023 Motorola RAZR (none plus) sometime before the end of the year. I heard this thing has Satellite connection features to it, could you possibly do a short review of that? Because I don't see much online about it.
You didnt use the reimagine feature correctly, the 'sky' didnt change on its own, the colour you saw was it just selecting it. You have to go into google photos, select edit on the photo and in the bottom left youll see a magic editor button, there you can highlight the sky, then tell it to reimagine it as anything you want.
What do you do with other phones and products you unbox like other iPhones or iPads or other things? do you give them to family, friends or keep them all to test and use them periodically
If you pre ordered the pixel 9 pro you will get gemnini advance and 2tb of storage for free for one year. My testing of gemini advance thus far is pretty creepy good and natural feeling.
Amazing. I like the flat design on the Pixel 9 series. Also, crazy that the Pixel 9 Pro is the same size as the regular Pixel 9 just like the newer iPhones.
Actually Pixel Studio does not change the sky. That was just the selected area. You can only erase things, but for that and the reimagine feature i would use the Magic Editor. You can access the Magic Editor from Google Photos, just click on edit and than on the colorful button on the bottom left.
I saw (in another review) that the PWM flicker is terrible on this phone, absolutely the worst frequency. Not sure why your camera didn’t pick it up. Google really doesn’t care about hardware quality… it’s sad.

No need for that amount of storage especially on a Google phone for me. If you use Google Photos, that’s what takes up the most space and they just upload.
the mic down there on the google bar is to search on the web, its not the assistant. You have to hold the power button by default or swipe from the corner to initiate the google assistant, Gemini in the case of pixel 9 series
I have a new 9 Pro XL. I have owned at 6 and 7. No one is showing the delay when taking photos. When taking photos in regular Photo Mode at 50mp and HDR and More Light off, this new phone has a 1-2 sec delay in full sun days. It is taking a photo as if it is too dark. Is this normal? Was this how the 8 Pro worked? If so I am returning this phone. I need to take many photos fast and the Action pan is only 12.5 mp. The quality sucks. Also, the video mode at 4k was very shaky. Some good things: Working with this phone for over 2 hours I feel the overheating problem is much better. My 7 Pro would overheat doing what I did for 2 hours. The finger sensor works. The old light one never worked for me. AI is faster. Another bad thing: You can not turn off Circle to Search like you could on my 7 maybe they did that on 8 I do not know. The boost video thing is lame and takes forever. Then you have to add it to your backed-up storage and I think that is the idea to sell more storage. Lame. I want this phone to work for me. Please let me know if you know about the delay.
