When I tell someone about Spoon I always say they're my favorite band you've never heard of. I've never understood why they don't get more traction & visibility.
Kopen mensen de cd They want my soul !!!!!!!!!!!! Krijg je geen spijt van !
Each song of this band is a masterpiece...I can't even believe how much I like them! I literally feel the meme "When you discover new music and your entire life has purpose again".
Discovered these guys in the Editorial Picks on Allmusic. Cannot believe I've never heard them before. So polished, so inventive, and perhaps the least pretentious thinking man's rock and roll I've ever heard. Digging through this discography is like unearthing treasure album after album.
Good for you! I feel jealous when somebody gets to experience something like that.... Friend of mine mentioned the other day that he'd never heard The Beatles' Revolver album... Go figure what a journey he has ahead of him.
I’m there right now! I just discovered them about a week ago. I’ve listened to just about every album already. I really like telephono. The rawness and impeccability of that album are awesome!
this band is literally incapable of sounding unprepared or otherwise even the *slightest* bit unclean. they are the most polished of any band I know, and they even fucking switch instruments all the time. That has to be so much fun.
+Bónne B Britt is humble and awesomely talented. I have seen them more than 8 times. I am now frustrated that they almost never play anything off of what I consider to be one of the top ten best albums of all time "a Series of sneaks." I see MD on this list, but I am not going to see them live again. They should pay homage to their true original fans...the ones who where there before they hit it big.
+Kyle Hansen they haven't really ever hit it big at all. And you can't say that people who became Spoon fans from Girls Can Tell and on aren't real Spoon fans. Sure, Series of Sneaks is a very good album. But you can't say that the people who've know about them since '98 are the only real fans.
+Kyle Hansen I'm with you regarding "A Series of Sneaks." Next to Gimme Fiction, it's my favorite. There's not a bad song on that record, IMO and I'd also love to see them play some of those tunes. But that record is in the way back for them at this point and I'm sure they'd just rather play their newer stuff. But I hear you!
Even though these guys have been playing for a couple of decades, they still look like they're having a lot of fun. Just fantastic rock and roll. Their performance is so detailed and subtle in many ways. Very intricate, but they make it look easy.
err I don't understand. If you have seen them then why are they on the bucket list? You mean for your friends? If so I agree. I look forward to seeing them!
Knock Knock Knock. So good on many levels. Love the sane driving theme vs. the guitar playing the insane theme. Incredible balance. Incredible piece of work.
That setlist was out of this world, and the mix was perfect. Amazing to hear Metal Detektor and Small Stakes, the fuzz on Pope's bass on Got Nuffin was fantastic. Jim and Britt seem to love every minute of playing and writing this stuff. I can't wait to see them in Indianapolis!
The sound engineering is just spectacular. Honestly this sounds better than their own recordings and makes them sound like musical geniuses. Lots of energy, and mixed perfectly. Good lord.
What are you smoking?........this session studio gig is no comparison to their album recording quality. Go listen to Knock, knock, knock on a good system and get back to me.
Makes them sound like musical geniuses? Dude, they have been true musical geniuses for 20 years before this gig. These are future RRHOF members. Its not engineering that made them so. Its raw incomparable talent in musicianship, songwriting, orchestration and performance.
@@centralscrutinizer9591 It is a really good recording for a live thing though. These guys are really good in concert as well, I had the pleasure to see them last month. It was a really good performance!
+Dan Bradley When ever I go to listen all the classics like the kinks or David Bowie to name a couple and I see all these uptight nostalgic folks saying "Why can't music be great like this anymore?" It just makes me soooo angry when I know there's bands like Spoon, or Parquet Courts or Ty Segall or COUNTLESS others that are making great music today. UGh!!! Sorry I'm a little passionate about that matter XD
+Abel Ramirez People have a very selective memory. They forget Bowie was once so poor at his peak he sold stocks of himself. Pop music in every generation is shit, and when that is filtered out and the classics stick people forget the reality that the radio back in the day wasn't The Kinks and Bowie at all. I totally agree with you!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥Cheryl Waters' reaction @ 23:55 - 24:02 is perfect. Good god, what a performance! Kevin Suggs and Ryan Doordan, the audio engineer and mixer respectively, deserve a raise and all the praise.🔥🔥🔥🔥
Discovered Spoon in SCI Pittsburgh in 2014-2015. Relatively short state bid that time. Listened to the Pittsburgh indie radio station that (at least then) was much like KEXP. A lot of cannabis, a little homemade wine, not a few mushrooms; plenty of Spoon, Sharon Van Etten, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, The National, The War on Drugs... man, we vibed to a lot of indie bands in the yard while getting high and playing pinochle. Reflecting, if that place was coed, it beats working and paying bills all day, every day.
and great mix for Ryan Doordan. different volume off mic singing like talking, multiple guitars and keyboards with noise but being well handled. KEXP has definitely the best sound engineers in the industry. the bands usually sound better then their record. keep up the good work!
Just chiming in to say that Suggs is in fact da man. These KEXP sessions are some of the best-sounding live recordings on the 'net. They do a GREAT job on these.
pontnord I know, these sets are engineered sooooo good. I have even contacted KEXP to see if they sell copies of studio sets for various bands (Alabama Shakes and St Paul and Broken Bones in particular) and was devastated that they don't ;) The sound quality is so natural and comfortable.
My favorite band on my favorite station. Beyond amazed, i preordered the album ASAP and listened to it at midnight, it's AMAZING you guys. Great job and thanks KEXP for bringing the best in!
I discovered this band long ago when they had one of their songs featured in a middling Will Ferrell drama. They are so fantastic and original sounding. The frontman is so intense!
I just became aware of Spoon a few years ago. How the heck have I missed them the last 20 years? i just saw them a few weeks ago at the XPonential Festival in Camden....they were awesome!!!!! I see a lot of similarities and synergy with Wilco and would love to see a double bill. I love how they push the boundaries of their instruments and their engineering
That's a very astute observation. There are a lot of similarities with Spoon and Wilco. Not so much in the music they make, but in the way they approach music. I would love to see them on a double bill!
The Johnny Greenwood emulation in the first song "Knock, Knock, Knock" and others is real! Although I know its done for homage purposes, so it doesn't bother me. I guess he pulled it off, great band either way.
To any of you that are here right now watching this video, thank you for being a Spoon fan because my god they deserve it
Cheers to that my friend... they are sadly underappreciated
One of the great songwriters of our time.
Unfortunately their appeal to only a select group is bc they are over everybody else’s head so kudos back to you.
Yes, my friend, they do!! So consistently great, and they make it look easy. They won’t be fully appreciated until they’re gone, I’m afraid.
Britt and Jim are a national treasure duo

I wonder why KEXP can not do this...
Because Chris Serna will do it for free ;)
Not all heroes wear capes
All thanks
Grande Chile!! jajaja gracias Cris :)
Thanks, Comrade!
When I tell someone about Spoon I always say they're my favorite band you've never heard of. I've never understood why they don't get more traction & visibility.
Just discovered them last week. How the hell are they not as big as KOL?
Kopen mensen de cd They want my soul !!!!!!!!!!!! Krijg je geen spijt van !
britt is one of my favorite front men....i love his voice and he just seems so genuine
+jimjambiz The guy is a great writer too.
Each song of this band is a masterpiece...I can't even believe how much I like them! I literally feel the meme "When you discover new music and your entire life has purpose again".
Check out "Let Me Be Mine" and "TV Set" If they slipped under your radar.
Hot damn, I discovered yet another killer band. KEXP I owe you a lot.
i'd rather start with Telephono. And to the Series of Sneaks and to finish the trilogy, Girls Can Tell. Such an amazing band.
One of the greatest bands full stop. And while I’m here, KEXP has the greatest sound producers going.
Without a doubt, Spoon is (and always will be) one of my favorite bands.
Discovered these guys in the Editorial Picks on Allmusic. Cannot believe I've never heard them before. So polished, so inventive, and perhaps the least pretentious thinking man's rock and roll I've ever heard. Digging through this discography is like unearthing treasure album after album.

One year later... What's been your favorite?
Ian Andrews
“The least pretentious thinking man’s rock and roll” is kind of a brilliant way to describe Spoon.
Bónne B Because they are true musicians that is why. The music and LIVE performance speaks for itself.
+Bónne B Britt is humble and awesomely talented. I have seen them more than 8 times. There is just something about 'The Ghost of You Lingers' that gets me every time. Easily one of my favorites of theirs.
I love these guy's sound, especially Britt's voice...
I watch this video every few weeks. It makes my day every damn time.
Knock Knock Knock. So good on many levels. Love the sane driving theme vs. the guitar playing the insane theme. Incredible balance. Incredible piece of work.
I love Spoon. Their music almost makes amends for Texas for giving us Dubya

Great studio session but their albums are genius. No comparison.
it is the best band that I've seen lately. Their last album is just a complete masterpiece. For bands like this I still have faith in music
+Atbash 77 Rock 'n' roll is still amazing. Thanks, Spoon.
+Atbash 77 Thing is if you aren't finding it, you're not looking. Same goes for anything, though some things really are better left buried.

I agree very talented band .... enjoyed their live show last night in Pittsburgh....
🔥🔥🔥🔥Cheryl Waters' reaction @ 23:55 - 24:02 is perfect. Good god, what a performance! Kevin Suggs and Ryan Doordan, the audio engineer and mixer respectively, deserve a raise and all the praise.🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of my favorite bands of all time
We need a spoonful of this every day.
These guys always put me in a good mood.
I just love the sound of their music ... and of course his beautiful voice.
Best band on the best radio station!
I think this might be my favorite band... And i know MANY bands. Congratulations to Spoon for being great artists.
Anyone who says Transference was a let down hasn't listened to it enough. "Who Makes Your Money" is such a damn good track. Utterly groovy.
And "I saw the light Coming" what a mastery of music!
Zach Litchman Nobody Gets Me But You is so good! Who can hate the album?!
Who says such nonsense? Fantastic album
GR8 band, i am happy that i have discovered it.
The rhythm guitarist is a riot, so fun to watch and awesome
Just heard them for the first time last week. Immediately hooked. Where have I been all these years? And I live in Texas!
Nevermind Interpol, these guys hit it out of the park with the new album.
The Interpol album was fantastic too! Would love to see them tour together
Excellent! One of the best bands of all time Honestly...
This is why I like Spoon a lot. They don't need to play their well-known singles to do such a great performance like this.
spoon is just amazing-thanks for all the years of innovation and inspiration.love you dudes
Really cool that they are still playing songs from Series of Sneaks
Hey, you're a mod of the Radiohead subreddit AND a Spoon fan? Awesome dude.
This is hilarious, hi! I also created the Spoon sub (SpoonTheBand) but it's not very popular.
jjysoserious lolololol this is awesome. Reddit is leaking!
How does this not have 4 million views?
So good live.
WOW that was amazing!!! Its great to see a band`d pay that much of an effort to a small show like this
Don't think i've ever seen them give less than full force.

KEVIN SUGGS! YOU NEED SOME LOVE! Big up's for making everything sound great :)
and great mix for Ryan Doordan. different volume off mic singing like talking, multiple guitars and keyboards with noise but being well handled. KEXP has definitely the best sound engineers in the industry. the bands usually sound better then their record. keep up the good work!

YES! thank you so much - they always sound incredible and that's no easy task from band to band - amazing work, THANK YOU

stclemmons1969 Yeah man, the St Paul & the Broken Bones session was so amazing.
WOW even better than studio performance
I really like their new album. It's fantastic.
I've been watching this concert for 3 years and never got tired of it. Spoon sounding like Spoon.
Corona Capital !!!!!! Los veo próximamente!!!!!
What I wouldn't do to have Britt say, "hey" like that to me at 4:52. Wow. The look. Cheryl is so pro, I woulda melted away right there.
Spoon is sooooo good
Try to clearly imagine how much fun it would be to be any of these brilliant musicians writing and playing these great songs.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
My favorite band on my favorite station. Beyond amazed, i preordered the album ASAP and listened to it at midnight, it's AMAZING you guys. Great job and thanks KEXP for bringing the best in!
I never heard of them before. Just seen them on the daily show with Jon Stewart. there is so much I don't know about. haha!
They sound great.

Love these guys, they recently did 3 shows down in D.C. They put on an awesome show.
I discovered this band long ago when they had one of their songs featured in a middling Will Ferrell drama. They are so fantastic and original sounding.
The frontman is so intense!
britt's little "hey :)" at 4:51 was too adorable

Love the look at 23:57-24:00! I think I would have the same exact look.
Outstanding display. Awesome band!
Great performance! Underrated band!
Man, that first snare hit. Nice tone! Props to the sound engineer! Great sound capturing Spoon's epicness
I love this freaking band!!
I only discovered this band a few weeks ago through the Everything Show on radio.valencia, Inside Out.
It'll take you awhile to scour through their albums if you do check them out......they have many. greats.
Cheryl has my dream job. :D At least she's awesome enough to deserve it.
Let’s just hope she protects her ears! But completely agreed!!!
Jim's face of utter surprise and enjoyment at 30:03 is priceless.
I love the new guy. Maestro

new diamond for me. KEXP rules

I NEED SO MUCH TO GO TO SOME SHOW OF THEM!! I just can't stop listening to spoon! I wish so bad they could come to Brazil :((
The Johnny Greenwood emulation in the first song "Knock, Knock, Knock" and others is real! Although I know its done for homage purposes, so it doesn't bother me. I guess he pulled it off, great band either way.
Love this band!
Rock of the ages!

KEXP ME LOVE U for the full performance and the individual videos for this! THX!!!

Cheryl dancing in the background at 7:03 Fun to see a host digging the band as much as I do.
Awesome set! Great camera shots. Love to actually see good close ups of them playing the instruments.
Good energy!
That bass line on Rainy Taxi... Such a great song.
Obviously the break was good for them. "They want my soul" is their best album so far.
Amazing performance!!!! Great interview too ❤
thanks KEXP I’ve watched this so many times and keep coming back to it👍👍🔥🙏💜🐰🚬
Serious music and so much fun. That's what rock & roll is all about. Shooby Dooby.
This is just captivating
Nice! I've been waiting for this!
"Ghost of You Lingers" hits so hard everytime
Shave my head and find my in dreams… you know that is only place you are ever going to meet me
Awesome set list and band 😊❤️🎶😊❤️🎶
Also. KEXP. I love these shows!
Tasty selection of songs from one of my favorite bands. The sonics on "Knock Knock Knock" are spooky!
