A few weeks past, while in search of making a screen door without the use of a pocket jig; viola, I came across your video! Thank you so much for keeping it simple. I reinforced my door with flat metal brackets, and added tin roofing at the bottom to give it an industrial feel. My niece requested one! Just wanted to come back to say, 'thank you for this video!' Carry on!

Great example of a sturdy build that doesn’t require a Jig. Rly appreciate this!

Thank you for this easy to follow video. This is something that I can do also thank you for letting us/me know the errors you came across so at least I can avoid those.

there are spring loaded hinges that will close the door, I found mine at the .99 cents store, its been 5years and they haven't failed yet, easy to install.

I ended up having to buy a piece of decorative trimming (found in the molding department) because I made the door too narrow. When it'd close, it barely hit the inside edge of the door frame. When I measured, I took a little off because I figured the hinges would add to the width, but they didn't add as much as I thought. So instead of 31.5", it should have probably been 31.75" for a 32" doorway.

Your stiles should run the full height, and the rails run between.

Great video Scott. You explained it well. What type of wood did you use for the door. Not sure what to ask for. I will buy so my grandson can build for me. Lolol

You could've bought a speed square for $4 while you were picking up the hardware.

This is not how you build a screen door that will last. There are so many things wrong with the construction techniques. Don't waste your time building it this way.

Wayne Tjornhom: Keep it to yourself!!! Why don't you go tell Home Depot or Lowe's how to build theirs because theirs sure don't last & theirs was built the right way, supposedly!! This door is worth a try!! There is always someone that can do a better job but don't ever show "the right way"!!

No, the home depot & Lowe's doors are made even worse than this.
