Thank you so much!! Just disconnecting and reconnecting solved the problem on my MacBook Pro. It was nasty inside of it, after 7 years of use without cleaning. So I cleaned the connectors with some air and everything works correctly now!
That damn little lever was not locked down on my laptop. Was driving me nuts after I replaced the battery. Thank you for the tip. Laptop works great again.

@@ItsBinhRepaired already done! I just finished the repair about 20 minutes ago and I couldn’t have done it without you. The ifixit docs (for the model I’m working on) assume the replacement trackpad comes with the cable and you are the only source I have been able to find that covers this and explains that there is a clip you have to flip up to insert the cable. It was driving me absolutely insane and my gf was so pissed because I was supposed to have this done ages ago. I had to change the battery because it was inflated, after the change the keyboard and touchpad don't work, neither with the old battery nor only with the power. i replaced the ribbon with a new one and it still doesn't work. do you have any idea what could be going on ? thank you very mutch !!

My trackpad is clicking and working but sometimes the pointer goes crazy on the screen. It is clickable everywhere but the very top and the case is not showing any obvious signs of a swelling battery. Do you think that the battery could still be causing the issue?
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012 - trackpad and keyboard not working, I did all of the resets, and at least with the smc I feel like it must be working because the MacBook didn’t turn on until I let the keys go. I opened it up, but everything seems connected and the trackpad is clicking. Any tips 😢

I have an issue with my M1 MacBook Air. keyboard and trackpad suddenly stops working when I use it for a while. when I shut it down it comes back to normal and then after a while it will stop working again. trackpad is unclickable. never spilled any liquid. tried to reset multiple times. tried having it checked to service center and the see no problem. but the issue still exist every time I use it for maybe an hour or so. what do you think is the problem? thank you.

@@ItsBinhRepaired They are asking about the latch you mention at 6:39 in the video. It's the latch for the cable to the trackpad. Mine broke also while replacing the battery and now the keyboard and trackpad do not work.
@@ItsBinhRepaired I'm not understanding your response. The tabs on either side of the latch broke off so it can't go back on. Please explain "add a shim" and "thicken the cable".
Hi, my trackpad works fine but my keyboard doesn't work. The keyboard works only when vertical, not horizontal in the desk. What should i do? Has anybody gone thru this problem?

One of the very best out there. It doesn’t answer my problem but I will save it to my MacBook repair folder anyway. My fault is odd - the A, S and D keys won’t work on my MacBook Pro 13” Retina A1502. I updated the iOS without success. I will try resetting pRAM and SMC also. If that doesn’t work, it must be a hardware issue. Great video. Many thanks for posting. I hope your very gifted hands are healed soon - it looks like you’ve been chewed on by a shark! Mine is early 2015 - it won’t be long before it won’t support latest issue iOS anyway, I would think. At least I can use an external keyboard with it but it’s upsetting this fault has appeared out of nowhere. On my Mac the keys: zxcvb aren’t working.. the rest of the keys are working perfectly. My password has the letter V in it. So I can’t unlock my mac 💻 I need help please 😢

Great fix all worked well with new ribbon from Amazon £5… I had to power cycle my Mac after I fixed to make the mouse work again but otherwise great

It's usually the touchpad or the touchpad cable.

What year model do you have?
It could be an inflated battery pressing against the trackpad.

My guess is a failing trackpad and trackpad cable.

im having the same issue, but when i restarted the computer, the fan started spinning really fast.
