    This is great. I've been trying to teach myself butterfly for two weeks. Most of the videos give the impression that it is all power. I was plowing through the water like a dental drill through teeth. At the end of every 50 I'd be gasping for breath.
    This is what i need to do -- flow, relax, enjoy the sense of the wave, glide through the water. Butterfly is such a beautiful stroke to watch. But I was killing myself trying to imitate Michael Phelps.

    This series on teaching the butterfly stroke is BY FAR THE BEST ONE I have ever seen! I have watched countless videos but none of them goes as in depth or as gradual as this one. All other videos only focus on techniques and timing, but this series goes beyond that and teaches and encourages us to use our senses and feel the flow of our body in the water. Best part is, now I can potentially swim the fly gracefully and not have to plow through the water like Pac-man and then run out of breath after 30 m. Thank you for the video series!!

    I never thought possible for me learn butterfly, but I have achieved it thanks to your videos.
    I can not thank you enough.

    These 3 videos are excellent! Instead of swimming only a rough 25 fly or 50 fly and gasping for air, I was able to swim 3x 100’s fly using this wonderful technique! This technique is a blessing and is awesome!

    I was a really good butterfly swimmer and even people told me i had a very beautiful Butterly. I haven't swam in a year and this video is an AMAZING guide if you want to have a effortlessly fast butterfly!

    1
    00:00:00,520 --> 00:00:07,080
    Lesson 1 the wave (undulation)
    제 1 과 몸 흔들기 (물결치기)
    2
    00:00:07,280 --> 00:00:10,800
    The wave or undulation is at the heart of the butterfly.
    몸 흔들기 혹은 물결치기는 접영에서 핵심에 해당합니다.
    3
    00:00:11,140 --> 00:00:13,620
    The exercise is in this first lesson.
    몸 흔들기 연습이 첫번째 과제입니다.
    4
    00:00:13,620 --> 00:00:21,200
    Show you how to develop a flowing action through your body, engaging your head, neck, torso, hips, and legs.
    머리, 목, 몸통, 엉덩이, 그리고 다리가 맞물려, 온 몸을 거쳐 흐르는 움직임을 이루는 방법을 보여드리겠습니다.
    5
    00:00:28,420 --> 00:00:30,560
    1. Body balance
    1. 몸의 균형
    6
    00:00:31,880 --> 00:00:36,100
    Arms trailing and head leading, gently drift into a glide,
    팔은 그냥 따라 가고, 머리가 이끌면서, 부드럽게 미끄러지듯이 앞으로 움직이다가,
    7
    00:00:36,180 --> 00:00:38,580
    and tuck up to regain your feet
    몸을 굽히면서 발을 끌어당겨 서십시요.
    8
    00:00:46,020 --> 00:00:52,080
    These exercises with the arms trailing will help to develop your awareness of your head, neck, and torso.
    팔을 끌리게 놔두고 하는 이 연습을 하면 머리, 목, 그리고 몸통에 대한 인지감각을 키울 수 있습니다.
    9
    00:00:57,020 --> 00:01:01,560
    Breathe out gently through the mouth or a combination of the mouth and nose.
    입으로 또는 입과 코 모두를 통해 서서히 숨을 내뿜으십시요.
    10
    00:01:10,720 --> 00:01:12,860
    2. Wave - arms trailing single leg beat
    2. 몸 흔들기 - 팔은 끌리게 하고 다리로 한 번 밀기
    11
    00:01:13,000 --> 00:01:17,000
    Practice a single beat first of all, to feel your way into the stroke.
    제일 먼저 한 번 밀기를 연습하여, 접영을 배우기 위한 감각을 느껴보십시요.
    12
    00:01:18,560 --> 00:01:20,300
    Allowing the head to lead,
    머리가 이끌게 하고,
    13
    00:01:20,400 --> 00:01:25,260
    collapse the chest and actively press down, while releasing the lower back.
    가슴이 가라앉게 한 후, 허리의 긴장을 풀면서, 가슴을 능동적으로 내리누르십시요,
    14
    00:01:25,760 --> 00:01:29,380
    The hips are driven upwards as the legs extend.
    다리가 펴지면서 엉덩이는 위로 밀려 올라갑니다.
    15
    00:01:31,960 --> 00:01:35,460
    Let the arms, wrists, and hands be relaxed and free.
    팔, 손목, 그리고 손은 긴장을 풀어 편안하게 두십시요.
    16
    00:01:38,460 --> 00:01:42,280
    Let the upthrust of the water raise the head and upper body.
    물이 밀어 올리는 힘에 의해 머리와 상체가 올라가게 하십시요.
    17
    00:01:42,360 --> 00:01:45,780
    The hips move forwards and knees release.
    엉덩이는 앞으로 움직이고 무릎이 펴집니다.
    18
    00:01:48,180 --> 00:01:54,580
    Notice how the head rows, the eyes lead and there's an active pressing down motion through the torso.
    시선이 이끌면서 머리로 저어가는 방법과 몸통을 지나면서 능동적으로 내리 누르는 움직임이 있다는 것을 깨달으십시요.
    19
    00:01:56,360 --> 00:01:58,620
    Avoid unduly arching the back.
    지나치게 등을 굽히지는 마십시요.
    20
    00:01:59,200 --> 00:02:01,340
    3. Wave - arms trailing double leg beat
    3. 몸 흔들기 - 팔은 끌리게 하고 다리로 두 번 밀기
    21
    00:02:03,260 --> 00:02:09,000
    Going a little deeper on the first undulation, allow space for a second smaller wave through the body.
    첫 번째 물결치기에서 좀 더 깊이 들어가, 두 번째 작은 흔들기가 몸을 ?고 지나갈 여유를 두십시요.
    22
    00:02:11,840 --> 00:02:14,640
    Avoid putting too much force into the kick.
    차는 데 너무 많은 힘을 주지 마십시요.
    23
    00:02:16,780 --> 00:02:19,720
    Enjoy a sense of the wave flowing through your whole body.
    흔들기가 몸 전체를 훑고 지나가는 느낌을 맛보십시요.
    24
    00:02:38,940 --> 00:02:41,020
    4. Wave - arms extended
    4. 몸 흔들기 - 팔을 뻗은 채로
    25
    00:02:41,820 --> 00:02:45,860
    With arms extended, the undulation becomes a more propulsive motion.
    팔을 뻗어서 하면, 물결치기는 더 강한 추진력을 내는 움직임이 됩니다.
    26
    00:03:00,860 --> 00:03:05,040
    There's an active press down, followed by a gentle release and float up.
    능동적으로 내리 누르고 나서, 부드럽게 풀어주면 몸이 떠오릅니다.
    27
    00:03:19,640 --> 00:03:20,440
    5. Wave - on the back
    5. 몸 흔들기 - 누워서
    28
    00:03:20,460 --> 00:03:27,000
    Practicing the wave on the back is fun, and allows you to focus on your technique without the distraction of breathing,
    누워서 몸 흔들기를 연습하는 것은 재미 있습니다, 숨을 편히 쉴 수 있으므로 기술향상에 집중할 수 있습니다,
    29
    00:03:31,090 --> 00:03:37,890
    the more active movement of the head employed in the wave on your front, or replaced by cushioning of the head and upper body on the water.
    몸 흔들기의 앞 쪽에서 머리를 활발하게 흔들어보기도 하고, 때론 머리와 상체를 물이 떠받치게 맏겨보기도 하면서.
    30
    00:03:44,190 --> 00:03:47,310
    Explore undulating with arms trailing by your side,
    팔을 몸 옆에 끌리게 하여 물결치기 해보고,
    31
    00:03:47,420 --> 00:03:49,660
    and with your arms extended behind your head.
    머리 뒤로 팔을 뻗고서도 물결치기 해보십시요.
    32
    00:04:05,020 --> 00:04:08,240
    Relax and let the water cushion your head and upper body.
    몸의 긴장을 풀고, 머리와 상체를 물이 떠받치게 하십시요.
    33
    00:04:12,100 --> 00:04:17,320
    Let your arms be free of tension and supported by the water in the extended arm position.
    팔을 뻗은 자세에서는 팔에 긴장을 풀고 물이 팔을 떠받치게 하십시요.
    34
    00:04:21,040 --> 00:04:25,860
    Notice how the emphasis or effort with a dolphin leg action is on the upbeat.
    위로 밀 때 어떤 식으로 강하게 또는 애써서 돌고래 차기 다리 동작을 하는 지 알아내십시요.

    @ijelev68, your complaints about arm movement being "incomplete" are, of course true. But - this is merely lesson one. You do not have to be a senior citizen to benefit from using less effort to swim further.
    Although I'm quite comfortable floating, doing this undulation action with my whole body is very tricky to do. I wish there was even more about how this whole body movement could be learned.

    There are some fine points especially in the body dolphin/undulation part, but generally it appears you've tried to adapt the stroke for senior citizens. Your volunteers look like they're drowning when trying to swim proper butterfly, the guy is simply in survival mode. The arm movement is totally wrong and incomplete, the leg action is shy and ineffective. Floating and swimming are different sports, for best results get a swimming coach, the DIY culture is not relevant in swimming.

  • @gabriellameattray9778
    @gabriellameattray9778 4 года назад

    Keep your head still!!! The movement originates in your chest, not the head
