    The Galil comes in multiple calibers. I have it in 5.56 and 7.62X39 and only the 5.56 has last round hold open. The 308 version might also, since it has a relatively straight magazine.

      The 308 galil is awesome it runs whatever ammo you want, takes ar10 mags, and you can get shots out to 800/1000 yards if you know what you are doing

    As someone who owns all 3, the Galil wins for me hands down. Better ergos than the regular AK and more affordable/available than the SIG. The AK's advantage is parts commonality/availability and weight. SIG advantage is more refined than the others although that isn't as huge of an advantage over the Galil.

    Nice content, as always guys.
    I have a SIG553 LB and a SIG 551 at home, very good rifles, not too difficult to have where I live, but they're expensive, even here, in France or Europe.
    Love the traditional look, green furnitures, ergonomy of the rifle in general, manufacturing quality of my SG551/553 LB, and the accuracy...is stellar.
    I live almost next to Swiss border, you can see lot of SG551 rifles here, because the military service is still mandatory for their citizens.
    Before, conscripts could bring at home their service rifle until they turn 35 (but I'm not 100% sure) but you can make a request to keep your weapon beyond the age of 35.
    Soldiers who do not wish to keep their weapons at home, for ethical or security reasons, can also drop off their service weapon at any logistic Base, even if citizen are required to serve complete shooting courses every year.
    PS:In French language, the word "assemblage" does exists and is used quite often ;)
    Greetings from France

      Yeah, a 551 is not a 550... Sorry bud. I served in the Swiss armed forces 2000 to 2010 and had an actual STGW90, SIG550, P90, however you want to call it. It's not what is shown here... It's waaaay better ;) A SIG550 PE90 (semi auto neutered version) would be the closest a civilian could get. That's what we have when we get out of the military and decide to keep it or what sports shooters use. They also come standard with a 20" barrel.

    • @MrCashewkitty
      @MrCashewkitty Год назад

      @@XxMrRoachxXwhat is the difference between the 550 and 551 besides barrel length? I thought that they were mechanically the same?

    • @slavepusher
      @slavepusher 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrCashewkitty
      Differences of the 551 compared to the 550:
      Barrel: shorter and no grenade ring
      Gas Tube: shorter
      Piston: shorter
      Hand guard: shorter and no bipod
      Gasblock: no bayonet lug
      This also means that the 551 has a shorter sight radius.
      The 55x series is nice, but unfortunately a bit outdated and pricey compared to modern day alternatives (compatibility with accessories, weight, ergonomics)
      However, they are rugged, has to be since conscripts abuse the shit out of them.

    Adams arms was my first upper. While the barrel died, the rest of it is still kickin along with a ton of rounds and full auto on the clock. Hard to beat for the price as long as you set it up right. Rail options are also severely limited, unfortunately.

    I know this bucks the norm but my man squeeze is my Galil Ace chambered in 7.62 NATO. I choose to hump it and mostly leave my KAC , Colt Ar’s at home a majority of the time.
    Having Arsenal AK’s, and Siaga’s I still mainly choose my Galil as my go to. The 308 Galil is an absolute workhorse, as are all ACE models are. I don’t own the Mdel 22 yet but I’m in search of a Gen 1 with 16” barrel. There are some Gen 1’s available at this very moment but in the 13” length. I may just grab it and convert the barrel. This video has given me a push in that direction.

      I have them both aswell also ace 8" in 5.45x39 and gen 1 7.62x51 308 20". While I will say the Galil Ace has obvious machining and fit and finish superiority. Some overlooked things the slr104fr has over any ace is easy is dissemblely (my aces especially gen 2 5.45x39 I have to have a punch and rubber hammer to remove dust cover gen1 is a bit eaiser.), cleaning rod ( I have used a cleaning rod to ram stuck cases or idiots who load a 5.56 round in a 7.62x39 mag and let it rip more than 3 times just this year), also the slr104fr has a cleaning kit in the butt stock which I have used to rip stuck cases out of the chamber. Oh and it's lighter even with a white light and red dot on ultimak. The ace is easier to reload with the charging handle on the left side but I have no issues with saftey manipulate on my slr104fr especially if it's a tactical reload and I don't have to run the charging handle. Love them both though.

    • @TheHashtagSquad2K15
      @TheHashtagSquad2K15 Год назад

      The ACE 22, which is the version they have, is just at 7lbs. That’s not heavy at all realistically. Plenty of people have ARs the same size or smaller that weigh more. That also is lighter than a standard AKM like a WASR which comes in at 7.5lbs

    • @xxdizannyxx
      @xxdizannyxx Год назад

      @TheHashtagSquad2K15 I call BS on that IWI claimed number. Iwi also poses that the gar 1639 is 7.5lbs (just gun), and it's BS numbers. No way 3" shorter barrel removes a pound from the gun. Even if it was right, 7.5lbs for a 13" barrel puny 5.56 shooter? Hell no, when ARs at the same price point, you can get for 6.1 or 6.2 lbs with a full damn 16" barrel. It makes no sense. x39 cartridge is a beefier cartridge that ar platforms have had a history of not being able to shoot reliably, so an akm makes sense in that caliber.

      @@xxdizannyxx first of all I own an ACE 22, it weighs in at 6lbs 13oz without the stock so the number isn’t that far off. Who said anything about the ACE 22 being a pound lighter than other options?? Like I said I own one and hold it all the time I know it's way heavier than a akm at 16" barrel at 3" less barrel will not make it magically that much lighter. Anyway, in 2023, 7lbs is too damn much weight to fire a damn 5.56 cartridge out of 16" barrel or less. Galil is a gimmic rifle in my eyes. Not even the Israelis use them.

The Galil is more favored then the AK buy a lot of people but the Sig has better features for my style of shooting. I still wouldn't choose that Sig in general.

    I would think an ak in 5.56 with the agb and a magpul handguard would be the best for a shooter. All these metal handguards get hot, dong or magpul for me.

    Standard AK- If you want to spend less and get basically the same performance. Doesn't have to be a Boutique brand to be a solid gun. Most options fit customization.
    Galil- If your an AR guy, it will come more naturally. But i know how AR guys get with weight and these things are close to 9lbs dry. More "solid" feel than a typical AK.
    Sig 55X- Basically a splurge purchase. They are the nicest but they aren't really "better" at being a rifle. The trigger is spongy and that can be a real turn off for some. They do have that premium feel though, and that is half the fun of shooting for me personally.
    I like my Sig 553R best, but I would say the standard AK is the best overall and no one should feel under-gunned with one.

    The PWS-MOD-2 you reviewed a while back in 556 or 7.26 would’ve been great for this comparison video. I understand you likely don’t have it / didn’t for this vid. It’s long stroke and probably the lightest weight of the rifles you reviewed + has many of the positive features discussed, and likely a bit cheaper option….my guess is it’s performance would be near the top of the heap.

Nah, THAT ‘Rifle Dynamics’ is a reputable piece of work too though…just NOT a huge ‘551’ fan and there’s SEVERAL great “modernized” in-a-sense AK producers, but it MIGHT ALSO cost a bit more mula too. STILL, the Ace is a fine platform. Dude NEEDS TO TAKE a breath every once-in-a-while man…
