Hi, Swiss Army Officer here. I wanted to make a little comment about the caliber of our duty rifle which I hope you'll find interesting. In the video you mentioned that our duty rifle (SIG550) is chambered in 5.56mm. This isn't entirely correct: in fact, our duty cartridge (called GP90) is not a 5.56mm, but a 5.6mm (5.69mm). Even if it's entirely compatible with the 5.56mm round, the 5.6mm round is arguably heavier and slower, which improve flying stability. That's why our duty rifle have a 1:10 twist, while the export versions have a 1:7 twist optimised for 5.56mm. ;) Side note: if you take out the bottom portion of the hand grip, you'll find a screw to tune the trigger. You'll get a tremendously good 2 stage trigger this way. Hope this helps!
@@florihae It's 63 gr, as other NATO rounds as well. GP90 is even listed in Wiki under 5.56×45mm_NATO 🤷♂ Yeah, for sure it isn't NATO standard, it just has the same specifications, but is totally different [end of sarcasm]🙄🤣🙈

OK what, you’re telling me that we get them cheaper here? Granted the street value is not even close to what they’re imported for but still. And what I mean by this is that I paid $6500 for mine, the guy who bought it from JDI bought it for $4000. It came with a set of green furniture along with the Swiss issue quad rails (relatively rare stateside) spare mag ($65 from jdi, $200+ street price) and black pistol grip + stock. Funny enough the scalping only applies to the ones people want, 553r (7.62x39), 553 nato (ar mag), 553 blackout (300 black out) and even lots of base 550s are listed on gunbroker for a very reasonable price yet people can’t justify paying it because it’s still $4000 for a rifle when an AR (mid range mil spec) is $800-$1500 at very most. I mean this is just the way it works, however I really wish out of all the ones that ended up in the country were most of them aren’t desirable. San Swiss seems to fail to realize that people are only willing to pay all this money because it’s a collectors item, not actually because it’s a good rifle. Don’t get me wrong I love my 553 commando, but I wouldn’t of bought it especially for the price I paid if it wasn’t a commando. A good amount of 550 series rifles that are even on our market have the wrong twist rate. You may take offense to me saying that the Swiss barrel twist rate is wrong, it’s actually the right one, only for the Swiss though. It is impossible to justify buying these rifles to be used practically as there is so much risk when it comes to buying them. I’ve got one in the mail on the way to my ffl. So doggone excited! Curse you for making me add to the collection haha. This and my knights will be my two guns for the end
Awesome break down --but I have two of the SIG 556 model types, so im good with those for now.
Excellent content. Keep up the good work guys! Best regards and respect from Brazil
So rad. We saw Tassons recently and it is a piece of art.
Ask him how many rounds he’s put through it
@@1911syndicate haha I’m sure it’s still zero
It’s all fiat cash anyway…my 550/pe90 was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! Congrats on the 551 and thanks for the great video! That intro was epic…🤜🤛
👍🏻
Just found this video.
I have a NH made 556. It will send brass way out there.
It sets next to the bed. Did have to change out a lot of parts on the outside of it.
This might be your best video year today. Well done on the mock up of this review and that opening. You guys killed it.🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸
I totally geeked out with you over this rifle for the entire video.
Thanks brother, we dunked some energy into this one
Sig Arms sold these for a while back in the early 2000’s state side. Never really sold that well.
The Sig Sauer 556?
I believe that came out around 2007 or 2008 India’s most people did not wanna US-made copy they wanted the real swiss made firearms
Another really good review thanks for sharing it with us 👍🏻 I hope you don't change it too much
Do you guys do a lot of filming by Tooele? I used to race motorcycles at Millers Motorsports Park and a lot of the backdrop looks really familiar.
24:17 you can adjust the trigger
Ha! Jake finally said "In the world..." and I have nothing to explain to the wife, got rid of her a few years ago...
I'm from Switzerland and i'm always amused how americans view our rifles :)
Great video as always!
I guess the big question for you is, do you like your rifles.?
@@williamhedrick7983 Of course, they're reliable and great to shoot. What else would you want in a rifle? And it doesn't matter from wich time period the gun is either, there were always great weapons in our country. We're very blessed to have such fine firearms.
I like your Swiss guns
I like your cheese with the holes in it.
@@codycox2685 Now guess how we put them holes in...̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿
Great vid! Informative, your usual killer production value, unique carbine.
Well done. I enjoyed this.
🍻
This is one of my top 3
I have a 551A1 and a 550 Special Black; both are great guns. B&T makes a pic rail for the 550 that runs about $160ish and it works fine.
Sweet intro Jake. Love your bedtime stories 🍻
Night night
Very awesome intro, you should do more like that.
"You should not watch this video if you are trying to be fiscally responsible." 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 I love it!
I used to have a Sig 556 and so mad I sold it a few years ago!!
@yoda x pew pew that’s not bad really. Was an excellent rifle and I loved it, but life happened. They weren’t goin that much when I got it, but not much of anything was these days lol
I’m mad at you for selling
@@1911syndicate 😂 yeah, yeah I understand 😔 😂
@yoda x pew pew sold!
The intro was great
🍻
I’ve been wanting one of these forever. They’re super hard to get and expensive.
It has the same stock drop as a FAL... When my 83 yr old father visits all he wants to shoot is my STG 58...
Get you the krebs SIG enhanced saftey and change out the grip for a hogue 551 grip. World of difference!
I've got a FA 551-2SP SWAT and a FA 553 (as well as others) and I'm in AZ. LMK if you guy are interested in linking up.
Great disclaimer. The 552 commando is my grail gun I think; I would take this
Rainbow Six gang
Do the 553. It’s better
Nothing like rocking one in! I love AR pattern weapons. Almost exclusively, but I can dig this. Too bad they're $6500 now. Wonder if I can get a 3rd mortgage?
They’re not 6500. 4K
The 55X series of rifles have been my favorite since I used the Commando in Rainbow Six Vegas
🤙🏻
I didn't know this channel still made videos
Yea
Just Came here to say I got one and now they are all gone!! I would have been pissed if I slept on this, no regrets!
Boys, your best review yet. Really enjoyed it. Thanks!
One of your best videos to date in my opinion
🍻
@@1911syndicate 🍻
Welp back to Tijuana - I am going to be on the circuit for the next 7 years for some money.....Thanks Jake
The sneeze spray 👌
When I started getting into guns, this is one of the guns that made me lust. I wish Sig USA would make a proper version of this. Also...not trying to be a dick....just saying...it's not diopiter, it's diopter. Kinda like how ambidextrous isn't pronounced tree-us at the end. Like I said, it's a correction, not a criticism.
9 out of 10 guntubers say ambidexerus
@@thejohnhend if not an even worse pronunciation...something something child left behind lol
alot of people say tree-us.
@@IncredulousIndividual I know
This only fuels my fire to say DIOPATOR even harder
the intro could been its own vid lol good shit
🤙🏻
If you want put an optic on it, i don't recommend to buy the one with the diopter sights.
Best Video by far. you guys are legit.
Cool rifle. I wish it had a threaded barrel - The barrels aren’t chrome lined either 😕
They are probably some of the finest barrels ever produced… I agree chrome lining makes them more durable and helps smooth over imperfections in the machining process.
Just like HK SiG uses a phosphate or nitride treatment.
All of the barrel blanks are sourced from either
Hammerli
Blaser
W+ Bern
SAN
All are turned / profiled in house.
@@williamhedrick7983 I agree they are indeed great barrels but for $4000 I think a removable muzzle device and a lining should be standard.
This editing and production is gettin to be too good. Thought this was a history channel intro or some shit!
We felt like it when we were making it
Great job Crispy
The 553 is what I consider as my "Elenor" sexy ass guns.
We hope to feature one later this year. I need
Diopter, not diopeter. Also, the trigger spring is adjustable. Adjust it, you can dial the trigger in.
Indeed I shall
I was ready to buy one until you said it did not come with a stock and didn't at least come with 2 mags. Cmon' man!
It’s how they have to be sold as imports. It’s the rules
Hello, are you going to also do a review on that Agilite plate carrier?
Yep. Few weeks out
Been trying to get my sig 553 fixed since may of 2021. The trigger came messed up from the factory and wouldn’t reset.
Oh no! That sucks
@@1911syndicate I’ve also been in contact with Sig in Switzerland since early august of 2021. The issue is still not resolved! I will have to send it back to JDI for the third time to get this resolved.
Did you try adjusting the plunger to the rear of the trigger, sorry if it’s obvious but a lot of people do not try to adjust the trigger adjustment screw
@@williamhedrick7983 no, it came with some spring poking out of the trigger unit. I paid 3500 for the gun brand new, they can fix it.
I’m sure they will fix it for you no problem!
the X95 has a similar bolt release. Please review that bullpup to justify my purchase.
Digging the operator beard!
Dude someone get Shrek some allergy meds. Listening to this on headphones In an airport and it sounds like he is about to hock a loogie in my ear lol. Do you guys still have access to that NT4 can? Jake I have a KAC triple tap comp for that can and if you guys want to review it I can send it to you. I still have your phone number since we spoke regarding real estate here in Colorado. Let me know and I am sure we can work something out. I even have shim kits to properly time it for your video. Keep up the great work nerds!
I want one more than anything!!
Quick question, I just picked up a sig 551 a1 carbine, how come the receiver is silver/grey instead of black like this one in the video? Thanks!
Assuming this is a difference in the Pistol VS Carbine model?
I believe you have the American made one if I remember the designations correctly
Awesome rifle. I have never been able to get past the trigger... it just plain sucks LOL
Legit amazing intro!
Much appreciated
Hi, great vid, thanks.
Krebs Customs makes a better safety and the trigger can be polished and adjusted. It will never be a match trigger. I also have the 556XI and that is a little shootable.
Krebs makes it for the 55x series?
Wow guys , Great video
🍻
The Krebs extended safety is essential. Also I like the Hogue rubber pistol grip that has a more vertical angle.
Fun fact: you can use a AK grip (love the Magpul one) with a simple 3D printed shim. Running my SIG 556r since quite some while like this.
When was this gun first produced?
Sweet rifle! The video is impressive most impressive.
Thanks a ton
Never seen a bolt release like that? Every ar has a bolt release that you thumb lands on as you insert the mag 😂😂😂. Love the vid tho keep it up
Looks like it has a lot of bounce to it. Unless you're a collector, I'd just buy a Galil.
The Grau XL 😎
I should have purchased one of these back in the 2000s when they were cheap compared to what they sell for now! This by definition isn’t a battle rifle (due to caliber) but cool video! Is the Swiss Military rifle made by Swiss Arms?
Great video
My dream gun
Steel vs aluminum? Which is better?
Either is perfectly fine. It’s a heavy gun to begin with so aluminum might be the route to shave weight
Awesome. Thanks for the response! I wasn’t sure if one version was more desirable / collectible vs the other. Your videos are great.
Pretty sweet rifle.
Dang that is a beautiful rifle! 😍 Do you like the black aluminum version that you have more than the other grey steel version?
I would say so but they’re both awesome
@@1911syndicate I totally agree! I am about to get one of these beauties 😁
SCAR gas adjustment is also stupid easy
