I have a Sig 553R (basically this but 7.62x39) and it's my favorite gun. Everything about it feels solid and quality. Shoots softer than a standard ak. Runs great suppressed, since it's got adjustable gas. The basically 12 inch barrel is such a good length for 7.62x39, only losing 100fps vs a typical 16 inch. It is a little chunky, for its size (about 7lbs). And the trigger is weird, it's rubbery in a way lol.
@TxpNoveske I don't have a BRN180 and I've never shot one, so I can't speak on it. Haven't tried any real bench rest shooting with the 553R, so I don't know the exact accuracy it's capable of, but it seems pretty good to me. Sorry I don't have a real answer for either of your questions.
As a Swiss, I can tell you these Gucci SG553P in 300blk are more expensive (4k swiss francs / $4,6k) than the new series of MCX Spear LT's which all cost around 3,5k swiss francs ($4k), those prices are mindblowing and you need da cashh over here in Switzerland 💲💲💰💰

The Sig SG55P in .300 Blk is like a fusion of AR and AK elements, and that reciprocating charging handle combined with the long-stroke piston system gives it an intriguing twist.
It's not a fusion it IS an ak mechanism with better tolerances and stronger receiver design. Sig swapped this version to stanag mags. @punako268 the Scar is an ar18 variant.

A small correction. AK tolerances are actually very similar to that of other modern rifles, and had been so for decades. What you are referring to is smaller CLEARANCES between moving parts. And by now we all know that those clearances are what they are on purpose.

as a former swiss soldier, thaught to handle, and to shoot with, the SIG 550 rifle, I like the fact that you keep the trigger security on safe when the rifle is not on target. Security first !
The Germans have a problem. They overbuild something, people find out there's a problem and Germans will deny there is a problem til their deathbed. They refuse to admit they are wrong about anything. It happened in the 30's and now they thing time skipped 25 years. Ask any German, they thing time went 1932, 1933, 1949, 1950. The Swiss will look at another person's problem, like Steyr with the TP9. Then they will fix it and offer to sell the fix, if they don't buy it, they will buy the design, fix it and sell more than the original design did. That B&T TP9 is so much nicer. I have shot the old steyr thousands of times (I owned one) now I own the B&T and it's 1000% nicer. It's even lighter than the old one after they fixed the issues. The beautiful sphinx pistol, I own one, it was my first pistol. Now I own the B&T also and it's better, much smoother and more accurate. I want them to buy the MP5, the sl8 and the mp7. They would be sooo much better.
That’s taking it a bit too far. The Swiss have more money, and it shows; their firearms and watches are 🤌. They have an ability to expertly gauge the luxury mkt. for demand and meet it. But the Germans are undoubtedly the world’s best engineers. If it needs run reliably, put a German in charge. If it needs to look and feel opulent, put a Swiss in charge. Porsche, H&K, and A. Lange und Söhne unsurprisingly make the finest products in their respective industries.

I had two U.S. version 556s, the carbine and pistol. After the top rail popped off my carbine and Sig USA offered a Tread to replace it, I took the Tread and sold both it and the 556 pistol. I have no use for the dumbed-down U.S. version of the real Sig. Unfortunate as they are unique, function well when they aren't shedding parts and are reasonably accurate. I'd rock this 556 despite the crazy price.
A sig 553 with 300 blk supersonic ammo, 8 or 9 inch barrel, swiss rock and lock mags attatched in pairs, with a grey receiver and Green plastic furniture is one of the vibiest Guns out there. Just screams 90s european spy thriller. Shoutout to all of the real ones who know
What I want to see is the Stg 57 available in the US. I had the chance to fire one about a year and a half ago and fell in love. It was unbelievable accurate with their service ammo.

I ve only ever shot one of these once when I was meeting Mishaco. Ive been saving for a few months to get one. It anit cheap but its something very different.
A guy I used to shoot with some how owned a unicorn sg553 in 5.56 with I think this same barrel length in full auto. He let me shoot a mag through it and I instantly fell in love! Yet I'll probably never be able to find or afford such a gun in my life unless current regulations drastically change.
If you like the way this shoots you should check out the PSA JAKL. It is also a long stroke gas pistol and it is available in .300blk. It is a very solid weapon and is very AK/AR hybrid like.
I owned the Sig 556 Classic...very well made, however it's a very heavy rifle (front heavy) with squishy trigger and bulky compared to an AR. I traded it away because of that and getting parts would of been hard and expensive.
My observations as well with the 556 Classic. The “front heavy” you speak of was exceedingly worse when a Troy Quad Rail was added! I do agree as well that trigger was extremely squishy and uncomfortable compared to everything else AR-wise. Way back when I had one, it was only worth $900 in the stock configuration and nobody wanted it at all. Funny how things change.
Sig, bring this out under $2500 and you will destroy fn. Right now its hard to like the goofy mcx. I have bought several SCARs, several brens, and all of the bullpups. Bring me one of these in 556, 300 and 7.62x39, ill buy one of each in rifle and pistol/sbr lengths. I just refuse to buy the mcx because i bought 2 and i had issues with both. You knew they were issues when you released it, refused to fix it and then came out with a new model that fixed it. I refuse to buy flawed products and then buy the fixed version 6 months later. Yes, i own the 556 and 762x39 versions of the old 556 swat and love them. I want these now.

IF, and at this point that’s a serious long-shot if, I were to add another caliber into the mix, 300 Blackout would be it. I’m interested in the rifle caliber APC stuff from B&T. I run an APC10, and will be SBR’ing it to run their MBT stock. I like Sig, and we have a few at home, but I also like B&T, which is also Swiss geniusnessment.
I'd recommend the 553. Note: SIG doesn't make guns anymore, they stopped back in 2000. The company SIG Sauer in the US as well as SIG Sauer AG in Switzerland are different companies. In any case, the 553 is objectively better built and higher quality. The APC is like a good and solid tool, but the 553 is a work of art. The requirements of the Swiss Army on their rifles like the 553 are also insane. I was told the respective document is over 700 pages long. If I could only own one rifle, it'd be the 553. The APC is good, but not as nice as the 553

First thing I notice was the pronged flash hider. The US military got away from that for a very good tactical reason, so if I ordered one of these, I'd want a different muzzle device. Also, on the opposite end, I'd want an adjustable stock. Folders are nice, but adjustable is King. Stout recoil?? For that, I get my AR-10. 😁
Everybody is going back to pronged flashhiders now though. Socom has been using them for a while and the new sigs come with them. Pronged flash hiders do better suppressed than closed.

First thing i look at now, is the magazine proprietary? Quickly followed by, How easy is it to find magazines for THIS firearm? Three years ago i drove to Vegas to go hang out and shoot with a buddy from the military. I brought everything except my magazines. duh. WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS! "We have magazines from 5rnds to to 100 for this rifle. How big ya want?" I did not transport any back to California as that would be a felony. (Thats my story and I'm sticking with it)

you are aware that you can adjust the trigger so it becomes more or less a two stage trigger.
@@cosmoch yes I am. It feels like a 3 stage, the way it came originally. It's fine, just different than anything else I've shot.

Everybody is going back to pronged flashhiders now though. Socom has been using them for a while and the new sigs come with them. Pronged flash hiders do better suppressed than closed.
you can have an adjustable and folding stock for the 550 series.
You know you can put all sorts of stocks on it, right? SIG offers them with all sorts of interfaces. You can even put AR stocks on it, if you want.

First thing i look at now, is the magazine proprietary? Quickly followed by, How easy is it to find magazines for THIS firearm? Three years ago i drove to Vegas to go hang out and shoot with a buddy from the military. I brought everything except my magazines. duh. WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS! "We have magazines from 5rnds to to 100 for this rifle. How big ya want?" I did not transport any back to California as that would be a felony. (Thats my story and I'm sticking with it)
