    I am in Australia and not familiar with aran weight - could someone let me know an equivalent please

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  Год назад +1

      I hope this helps - Historically, the UK worsted weight yarn equivalent has been aran. Some serious yarn enthusiasts will tell you that these terms aren't precisely interchangeable. That's because traditionally, worsted and aran yarns were spun differently. As a result, true aran yarn has more loft and a bouncier feel than worsted. However, most modern knitting companies don't differentiate between the two.
      Aran yarn is also known as 10 ply yarn. It's important to note that in Australia, 10 ply yarn is commonly referred to as the equivalent of worsted weight yarn. So, if you're working on a pattern from Down Under and uncertain about which yarn to use, remember that 10 ply yarn is what you'll need :)

      You can find the pattern on my blog - blog.bellacococrochet.com/romany-crochet-shawl/ :)

    Be aware, if you prefer reading a pattern, the blog doesn't show rows 1-30 unless you subscribe.
    It's still free with ads, but the requirement is subscription...also when on the website on the phone the handicap icon can get in the way of scrolling.

      It's a free subscription it's just a way for us to monitor the blog :)

    Everyone else is like "ahhhh, this is so easy" and I'm trying not to scream and cry in frustration because I cannot follow this video at all 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. I can't follow any of them. I cannot make a shawl at all, no matter how easy the tutorial 😢

      I get you, I felt like that for a long time. (And with some videoes I still do). For me it helps looking at a written pattern also. I know this one costs money but if you feel like it, it might help.

      I had to rewatch the video several times and keep referencing it as i was working. It took me 3 weeks to get to the width of my shoulder. Its okay to be frustrated. I've gotten better but i keep having to come back to the video because i confuse myself and add or drop chains.

    I’m very sorry but I can’t make sense of row 10. You say to repeat row 3 for rows 9 and 10 but you don’t do that when you are showing us what to do. There should be 3 holes rows but in your demonstration there are only 2. I’m not trying to be rude but I’m getting very frustrated.

      You can slow down the video and/or pause so that you can catch up :)
