Three years before my mum became ill and passed away; for my Christmas gift I asked for her to make a tape of her life. I wanted a audio tape versus video so I could imagine her at whatever age she was at when she was telling her story. My mum took a map of Oxford and instead of chronologically telling her life story, she took me down all the streets and roads of where her life had taken her. It was such a wonderful idea as later when she gave me the tape and the map, I was able to take a “tour” of her life. After she passed away, I transferred the tape onto a CD and with a portable CD player took a walking tour of her life in person along with her sister. To physically walk the roads and streets hearing my mum’s voice with my aunt by my side was priceless. I will always be so grateful for this gift my mum gave me and am continually blessed by it!
What a truly wonderful gift
@@majordog2399 Yes! It has now been 26 years since mum passing and I still cherish her gift to me and will treasure it always. There have been times since her passing when I am feeling a bit alone and I will play the CD as I lie in bed in the darkness of night and the light of her voice suddenly fills my heart with love!
That’s wonderful! I have my parents voices on a tape they made on a vacation trip with us when I was a teenager.
@@lbacaterpillar I love that! What a treasure you have!
What a clever lady. How wonderful, I have a small cassette recording of my late Granny who would have been 110 now and she was interviewed as a long term patient on a Leeds Hospital radio station, bless her. I listen to it now and again. So lovely to hear. She was happy even though she was in hospital on and off all her life. I love and miss her 36 years after she died. xxx
I like the way the wood stain brings out the grain of the wood. It looks very nice.
Hi, its thin because its a stain rather than a paint.
or he has not stirred it .....!
Does that mean it's a preservative as well ?
Stain not paint , you are right,Sean couple coats it will look better 😊
Nothing wrong with your paint Sean. It is a stain . Stains are very thin not at all like paint. I used stain on my cedar shed. Dries quickly and really has a nice finish.
Use a sprayer or you will go mad
I find it absolutely bazaar that I sit and watch Sean painting a shed and showing us the contents of his shopping bag etc. it should be like watching paint dry but I guess like some others I find his pace of life relaxing…..I’ve gotta get out more!
Actually, the tray you have is for a roller. For a brush, it would be easier to use a can to hold the stain. A bucket type thing.
If you dont want to clean your brush because your going to do more painting or staining the next day wrap your brush in a plastic bag or plastic wrap..
Absolutely. Cling film does the job.
Watching you paint your shed triggered a memory. When i was a child in the 80s in the summer was the smell of creosote everywhere when people where painting their fences 😊
Loved it. That smell.
I remember doing that.
horrible toxic stuff but like the smell as well lol
I remember that smell. My father used to dip all the posts for the cottage in creosote and then every year afterwards, give a top coat to what remained above ground.
I painted my garden fencing black and it looks amazing because it shows up all the lovely differant shades of greens and all the colours of the flowers are high lighted
Sean, my time was not wasted at all , nice to have a lovely chat.
While you painted I made Raspberry jam. 4 lb. All the raspberries are from my small garden. I also share them with a lovely little thrush and some black birds. I don't mind that thou I can go to a shop they can't.
😊Sandra. Rhyl
A great video and love the colour of your shed😊 The sound of the stream is wonderful and relaxing 🏞️ 😊
Yes I find him amusing and down to earth. What you see is what you get, warts and all!! Love it. Love the fly on the wall content ..he comes across so genuine. I am thoroughly enjoying his vlogs and glad I fell across him!!
There should be a strip of wood nailed on the corners , it would normally be supplied with the shed,
it will protect the edges of the cladding which are exposed at the moment.
57:41 “Do I just put more coats on it? Or maybe I should read the box that it came in.” 🤦🏽♀️
White for the inside would be my choice as it will make it brighter , and not gloomy
Paint your wagon pink!!😂😂😂
Does anyone else finds sean relaxing and calm like talking to your best friend
Yes! 👍🏻 😄 He often makes me laugh, and I enjoy his stories.
Absolutely, I find myself giggling with what he comes out with - he's a breath of fresh air on you tube ❤
Adorable every time..
Love listening to a Welsh accent spoken in English.
He’s a very natural presenter that seems effortless - I’ve tried to do a vlog and I seem to lose my thread, stutter and find it much more difficult than I supposed!
How tranquil it's going to be sitting there in the evening with a nice cup-a-tea, listening to the river. Great video Sean, veery relaxing. Keep up the good work but look after yourself. Paint your wagon pink.
PS … I’d like to hear more of your paranormal experiences Sean .
The ice cream van here plays the music from Match of the Day 🙂 I recall when I was a child a man would come round the streets on a bike and he would sharpen knives on a flint wheel. Greetings from Devon 👋🏻
Hi Sean I love the way you talk to us all as if we were with you
I love colour of the stain for your shed will look good ❤
Morning sean. Paint your wagon pink 😂. I really enjoyed watching paint dry, quiet relaxing. I come from spiritual people and psychics, so I would love to hear your other stories and experiences you have had. I definitely think dark green for the window frames, I love your channel ❤
Love the sound of water, be nice to have a day bed in the shed for a quick lie down, listening to the water would send me off to la la land 😂, love the stain on the shed… very attractive Sean
Loving seeing the grain in the wood with that colour stain. Loving hearing the water flowing in the background, so relaxing. I like the colour of the wood as is on the frame, good contrast. 🐞
Hello Sean. I did enjoy watching the paint dry, thank you! I am older than dirt, and when I was a little girl we had a rag and bone man with a horse and cart. He had a chant that nobody understood, but I think that was a normal thing. This was not far from where you used to live in Crystal Palace. I think he also used to do knife grinding, and I remember being scared of the loud sound of the grindstone, which I think was worked with a treadle. Later when I went to uni in Bristol, there was an elderly gent with a bicycle that was almost entirely obscured by the gigantic strings of onions that he offered for sale. He appeared on the streets of Clifton in the Autumn, and stayed until all his onions were sold. I think he was French. Well he had a beret, and said he was French! Now in Gloucestershire, we have a scrap metal man who drives about in a van (no horse) but who still keeps up the proud tradition of incomprehensible yelling so that we know he's coming!
The shed is just looking stunning, I love it! You defently maked the right choice! Have a nice day! Annica from Gotland, Sweden 🤗
Afternoon Sean, great job getting started on your lovely homestead, it’s Colin and Justin who brought their hotel. Have a lovely weekend.
Went into a book shop this morning and first book I see have Colin and Justin on the front cover! #spooky
😂😂😂 you’re so funny Sean and I thoroughly enjoyed watching paint dry 🤣🤣🤣 thank you for your videos!! ❤
Paint your wagon pink 🤣. Very therapeutic watching you paint. Looking forward to hearing more about your eerie encounters.
But he’s not painting. He’s staining.
Some enchanting evening, you may see a stranger, you may see a stranger across a crowded room....
I love that song Sean 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
Love your videos even watched you when I was in skopelos island on holiday 3 weeks ago .keep doing what you do .😊
Hello Sean,I love the colour of your stain on Shed,an the dark green round windows will look grand. I am enjoying watching an listening to you chatting to us.mmaybe get yourself a little stool to sit on when doing the lower parts of shed, just take pressure off your knees.take care Sean, have a lovely weekend.😊
The shed’s going to look great with what looks like s stain rather than paint. Very natural. The important thing is that it’s going to protect the wood. My personal preference is not to paint the window frames white. I think they will differ too much from the rest of the shed. You’re making great progress anyway 👌👏
Most wood preservers last 5 years. If you want to, you could add a clear coat and the surface will be preserved longer, especially with the rain in Wales.
White shows every speck of dust, the colourant from tree leaves. Better to go with a Kelly green.
All 4 walls should have preservative mostly because of the moisture from the river, rain and plant growths.
No, you won't need another coat of preservative. It's meant to penetrate the wood fibres and create a seal.
Paint your wagon pink 🤣. I bake a large tray of veg every week and serve some hot and also make roast veg salad. Your garden kneeling pad would be handy painting the lower sections of the shed.
Love the colour of the shed. I would stain windows in clear varnish. Very stylish Sean.
Green trim, though I do like the contrast of the window frame as it is now against the charcoal stain. Maybe a lighter stain? And green for the door.
Paint your wagon pink, lovely video Sean.I have taken your mantra to heart, do a little but often. Greetings from a sunny South Africa.
Really like the look of that stain. We painted our shed a light wood colour but now I wish we chosen that charcoal ….very smart looking Sean.
'Paint your wagon pink' 😂
I'm watching this video in the morning quietly having my morning drink so this video is perfect right now haha.
« Talking bo***ks for 1 hour » thumbnail for this video 🤣 - Priceless 😂
Loving your shed colour ❤ very relaxing watching you paint your shed 🖌️🎨
Loved the video Sean. So relaxing to watch you stain the shed and tell stories. The color you chose is lovely.
I would love to hear more about your spirit stories.
Paint your wagon pink! Knitted the leg of a teddy bear whilst watching!!
A stain is thin so it can impregnate the wood. That's what gives it a good solid protective coating.
Paint adheres to the surface and requires a primer coat. Whereas stain soaks in and seals.
Paint your wagon pink 😂
I enjoy watching your videos more than any other RUclips channel I follow. In fact, I enjoy watching your videos more than any TV programme I watch.
We have an ice cream van that visits weekly Spring to Autumn. It just has its own ice cream in the one flavour, but it's very good. We used to have a pop man who went around delivering various flavours of fizzy drinks. Back then, a fizzy drink was a treat. Your impression of the onion guy made me laugh.
I find myself talking back to you when you ask questions like you can hear me. Thanks for another entertaining video.
I lived in Pinner, Middlesex, as a child, and we had a fair every year - it was wonderful, and I suppose it is still going on - and I remember having a picture taken holding this little monkey, who had knitted clothes on. We also had our coal delivered, when I was even younger, and we lived in North Harrow, Middlesex, by a man with a horse and cart. We too had a man come around and sharpen knives etc with a flint wheel. Lots has changed now, some good, some not so good me thinks, but it is a sign of the times we live in. Shed looks great with the stain, as others have said on here, that is why the mixture seems thin, and the window frames painted in a different colour will look great. Blessings to you, from Jilly & Madge, from West Devon, England. xxx
A fluffy roller, instead of that tiny brush, would have made the stain go on so much faster for a large surface such as this.
what's the rush?
@KJ_2020 Less body aches?
Paint your wagon pink. Lovely job Sean. Very relaxing watching you paint. I love your videos. Xxxxx
I remember the tinkers coming around. You could get knives, lawnmowers etc sharpened on their anvil. Sold tin and iron pans. Covered traditional wagon. Always knew they were in the area as the women came around with big baskets of lucky heather. This was the 1950/60s
Was that Wiltshire?
Paint your wagon pink……. Like watching paint dry 😂😂on my second cup of tea watching 😂
It is a stain and a sealer. I usually use a rag after to see the knots. I love that colour is stain. I may do my fence that colour.
The shed looks great, Sean. I think the Homestead is going to be a place that you will enjoy very much. I am so pleased you made the decision to buy the land and fulfil your dreams. Take care.
Now that most of the rubbish is gone from your river allotment, I find myself really interested in seeing how you improve it. I'm really looking forward to seeing where you plant things, etc.
Morning Sean, I’ve just watched you painting your shed, I remember the monkey at the seaside too, and the donkey rides also. I live in Llandudno and can remember coming here when I was younger and many a donkey ride on the beach, also the Punch and Judy show which til this day is still on the prom and get lots of children parents watching them.
I think you should go for green window frame too.
I bought the Chandos rose you recommended and the smell is beautiful and the head is so big on it.
Keep the videos coming I so enjoy them all x
Oh a fish, never heard of that before, our rag and bone man gave us a balloon and we were delighted, how times have changed. Xx
Hi Sean, that is fascinating
story of your uncle and all that happened and so sad to have died at 12 years old.
Shed will look good in the black. Hoping you have a good weekend.
All the best 😊
Paint your wagon Pink!
Your voice is so pleasant and good for me to listen while doing ordinary kitchen tasks.
Very rarely is there a visiting ice cream truck in my small town. Wish I was there to help you stain the shed.
Keep up the videos, boriing or not. (They're not.) Beautiful out there, isnt it. It's more like a comfortable neighborhood witb us being your neighbor. Onward, ever onward. Blessings. Granny from Kansas here.
For the future: a small plastic tub is much easier for holding the stain while you paint, esp one with a handle. The trays are only for when you use a roller, and you sit it on a table rather than holding it while you work.
Oh Sean what a beautiful stain! It looks like the burned wood technique that the Japanese use. It really brings out the wood grain. Paint covers like mayonnaise and stain lets the grain shine. Wonderful ❤
I wouldn't of painted my wagon pink, I'd paint it a nice cornflower blue, it brings the colours out beautifully, especially the greens. I did paint the 6ft fence around my mobile home the substitute of creosote and it was fabulous, so you made a good choice on your shed. Have a good weekend🖐️🤗
Hi Sean, paint your wagon pink! The shed looks great in the charcoal stain, I can’t machine why you would want to cover it up with paint. I think paint would flake over time where the stain wouldn’t. I think two coats of stain should be enough. It gives your shed instant character, allowing the wood to show through. All the best.
Ps the video finished on me while making my comment 😂
Paint your wagon pink! 🌸 The shed looks great in that charcoal color! If it's between white or green for the window frame, I'd go with green. Or perhaps a muted purple would look wonderful.
I don't remember that part of "Some Enchanted Evening" Across a crowded room, ooooooo! 😮😅 Wheres the knee pad you use for gardening, would have been a little kinder to your knees.
I think Sean is on the cadge for a fact finding mission to Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Members/Viewers, he deserves one lol.
Thank you Sean enjoyed your chat. Have a good weekend❤
As others have pointed out it's a stain not a paint no need to put in a tray just use a smaller tub it'll be easier & a bigger thicker brush would be better too Sean ...😊
I'm watching and waiting for the sequel to "Paint your wagon pink" 😊 Love the natural woodgrain look. Maybe a terracotta colored trim would look nice around the window
The shaking and mixing paint before starting is the most important part of painting.
Something else: If you blowup a brown paper bag and hang it in the shed, no bees or wasps will start a nest inthere cuz they think the room is occupied and they are very territorial.
Grts from Holland.
The 'paint' is a stain which is much better. It will soak into the wood rather than sit on top of it. It's a semi transparent which shows the grain of the wood. We're experts on stain here as our whole house, barn, woodshed and playhouse are covered in it. 😂 Ours is solid rather than semi transparent in a bronze/green tone.
So relaxing watching you paint. Perhaps a drawbridge would work.😂
Hi Sean :-) What you have is Stain not paint. The stain looks nice though !
Yellow is a thought for inside (pale not too bright) because that brings out the sunshine in our souls ,I find.bootiful
I painted my shed cornish cream inside once it had been insulated that is. I hang my amateur landscape paintings on the walls.
No gardening stuff allowed in my shed😂
Shed looking good. When I saw the paint brush coming out I thought this is sure to be a comedy one, but I was wrong. This was a nice relaxing therapeutic video which sent me to sleep so I watched it again from start to finish. Thank you Sean you are looking nice and relaxed yourself. Take care.
Looking good sean. I think leaving the window frame that colour looks good . If you let ducks get in they will destroy everything x
I suggest leaving just one coat of black paint so the grain of the wood shows thru and doing the door and window with natural wood stain . Pine or oak colour.
Yes, we had the onion in Gloucestershire - we thought he came from France but maybe he was Welsh!
You should do a video renovating the cold frame, I would like to see it with salvage window frames.
I will but I won’t be needing it until next Spring so will be a winter task.
yes we had the rag man in Scotland & i also remember the candy apple man going round the village too! i'm liking the colour you chose for the shed Sean :)
I remember the rag and bone man during the 60s on his horse and cart in Swansea. A goldfish in a plastic bag for some rags. Poor goldfish never lasted long. Thankfully, that is now illegal.
I got a lot done so I came back to rest and watch the finish of the video, I like the grey colour with the wood grain showing through. Thanks for shaaring.
Stain is nice as you can see the wood grain too - nice and relaxing vid thank you Sean the shed looks terrific. Glass would be great in such a beautiful location 💎🙏
Good afternoon Sean,we used to have a rag and bone man and the paraffin van round in the 70s,no onion man though! Lovely colour for the shed, brings out the grain of the wood.found it quite relaxing listening to the river and watching you paint! Shed may seem an expensive layout first of all,but an investment in the long run, somewhere to sit and relax in peace after working on the land, shelter from the elements and more importantly, somewhere to make a cuppa 😂 Were you born under a wandering star Sean? Paint your waggon 🩷😂 I have brick wallpaper in my kitchen funnily enough and it is up the right way! Laughs and relaxation are a great way of starting the weekend, enjoy yours and take care Sean 💜
Hello from North Florida! The shed looks Wonderful with the black wood stain (preservative) on it. It looks very nice with the natural wood around the windows too. Anywhooo, looking forward to your next video! Have a GREAT weekend! 😀
Ps... Paint your wagon PINK! 🤣🤣🤣
Hello from North Carolina (USA). Good job on the painting. I love to hear the river in the background-very peaceful. I like the wood grain showing through, although that may not be the look you were going for.
When i was growing up in the fifties and sixties in Lincoln, a man on a bike would go round the streets, blowing a trumpet, to let people know that the water was being turned off. He would come back leter to let us know it was back on again. 😊
Great painting like the colour and yes please a RED door would be awesome, so that live stream people that you watching they live on a narrowboat..... I hoping that it is "Life on board Amyjo" they are lovely people. I watch them also, I have actually came to the UK and went and met them, went on their boat with their dog Smudge..... their live stream is great love it, so yes you should do one, would be great to see any little animals running around your homestead....
Yes that's the channel I've been speaking with.
Paint your wagon pink! 😂. It’s so relaxing to watch you do anything. I like to see the wood grain under the stain.
The heat might have evaporated critical chemicals in the paint leading to a different consistency. Who cares😂as it will still look fab when it's finished! Glad you are recovered from the 🐝encounter😘have a lovely weekend Sean and don't overdo it, just chill
Thoroughly enjoyed the hour watching you stain your shed. It triggered beautiful memories Sean of the hours I spent watching my father do all the maintenance around the home and garden. I could even smell the wonderful creosote up my nostrils! Lovely video, and I have just had to watch it all over again! Thank you Sean x❤️
The colour is helping it blend in already. We used Cuprinol Black Ash outside & Cuprinol White Daisy inside. I only wish I’d gone for black on the inside window frames become white jars on the eyes when looking out on the view. Have even painted the greenhouse frame black I liked it so much. It was white & stood out like a sore thumb, so painted it dark green & it looked so much better in a garden setting. But when we repainted 20 years on, we went for black so it all tied in & we could see where we’d been😂🤍💚🖤🩷
Paint your wagon pink 💕Bendigo, Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
Paint your wagons pink. 😂😂
Wow! That looks really nice Sean, very rustic like it’s been there for years but in a good way. It will look so lovely when all the colours grow up against it. No idea about paint or preserves but, pretty sure others have the answer.
I’m so sorry you lost your dad at his young age that was so sad and then to hear of your uncle. I believe there is always a reason behind things happening and you were meant to know of him. Will you perhaps have a little memory garden for the loved ones past?
Well, I will never be able to say that old saying again about boredom and paint drying as this was lovely and relaxing to watch.
Thank you for a lovely Vlog Sean ❤
Hi Sean , you got what you’ve bought 😂 you’ve have wood stain there and not wood paint, stain is designed to let the wood grain show through and is always much thinner, paint is thicker and covers the grain. It looks fab I love the colour
A light contrasting colour for trim and door will look nice. Give it a bit of cheer in dull weather.
Lovely relaxing vlog 😊 … enjoyed you singing “some enchanted evening”, we used to sing that at school, it was one of my favourites!
I like to watch you paint the shed, and chat. It is slow living. I also would like to compliment the style of your filming and just being able to watch your Welsh life. Its wholesome. Im off to paint my waggon pink ! bye. Jo
