🚗 My late Father never drove a car, he walked/ moped all his life.
He was a Painter and Decorator by trade, and so visited probably every road where we lived for work.
One advantage of this was, he was able to take a cutting from which ever plant took his fancy.
He sure did have green fingers, our front garden where we lived was like a jungle in Summer with a riot of colour and sweet scents.
He hardly ever bought a plant, be it flower or vegetable, and gave away just as many in return......
He probably saved enough money, to buy that car.👍

      @kitchenworker446 3 месяца назад +11

My mum and dad were the same...they alway asked the garden owner if they saw a plant they liked and would get a cutting...I don't think there was anyone who refused them and in return they would offer cuttings from their own garden.

Designer here, just an idea, do with it what you will: Painting the fence black would make it recede therefore making the space look even larger and unify the large structures in the garden. Then place a black object in the area opposite the shed (possibly an obelisk or arbor to sit under)this creates a triangle that the eye follows in a pleasing way.

Half day closing on a Saturday!?? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Here in Sudbury, Suffolk, a smallish market town, the shops get a huge amount of business all day Saturday. People here would be up in arms if they had half day closing on any day. Maybe it’s a Welsh thing. Loved, as usual, the views of the beautiful place where you live. Also the song that you edited in. When it comes to filming you really have the touch Sean. Continuing to watch you every day and as I live alone, really look forward to each episode. You are so natural and have a brilliant turn of phrase sometimes.

Re the water filter - Sean, please check out the Big Berkey water filter - I have had one for years and it really does remove that awful chlorine plus a lot of other nasties. It is a bit pricey but lasts forever and you can't put a price on health. As I suffer from a lot of health conditions plus extreme chemical sensitivity, this is the only water filter that truly works - and no I am not sponsored ... maybe I should be!! ❤

Oh see!? It turned out just lovely and rustic as it should. Did I tell you, I spent 10 years in Alaska, in a very small town. Landlocked. Couldn't get in without a boat or a plane. Just at the mouth of the Prince William Sound. A town called Cordova. I was en-route when the Exxon/Valdez oil spill happened! My son was three when we drove the Alaska Canada Highway and he was 13 when we left. Of course, he's gone back to Alaska, as that feels like home to him. In my heart, that's also part of home, just as England is. But we so enjoyed making things and watching things grow. The amazing wildlife. The Northern Lights. The Salmon. The Bears. Fiddle-head ferns! My friends, who were indigenous natives of Aleut/Eyak heritage, taught me all about what was safe to eat, how to be safe, how to truly appreciate the beauty of the land. The first year was really spent in efforts of cleaning the oil spill. At that time, I was very young. Early 20's. I was a hairdresser and bartender. It was a town of 1300 residents, which trebled in the Summer, due to kids coming up to work in our canneries, to make college money. What an amazing experience. I adored it. Just watching you at the allotment, brings back memories of the scent of the soil, damp wood, all things growing and clean air. It was a magic place to raise my boy. Anyway, I've gone off on a novella here! Haha! Well done you. Love the colour. Love the style. Know it's going to be your most wonderful place. Enjoy!

Hi Sean, I'm glad you went for green for window frame it looks great - I must admit I would have gone for the Sage green but can understand you wanting a smaller tin. I think it'll look even better when/if you paint your shed again as it will come up darker and really set the window frame off! So pleased you've got a window too now as will make your shed more secure.
I can definitely recommend the Amazon Basics water filters and jug - cheap and does the job made by the same people who started it all off years ago as the jug part is made in Germany.
Btw really liked the song playing whilst you were on the bus lovely views too! 👍
Anyway take care, until next time. 🙂

Lovely 🌹 Sean I bought Lifestraw (pitcher side) water filter unit, the Lifestraw was developed to use in disaster areas & filters out any Nasties in Tap Water to River water, it retails for about £60, the filters last well too.
I also got a small attachment with a ceramic water filter to go on faucets for £10 bad tastes, chemicals, germs filtered out bought on T#mu & a filter for water bottles also turns water Alkaline for £5. & lastly 😂 a rechargeable unit you pop in a basin of water with your fruit & veg it removes germs & pesticide residues for £10 all on T#mu, as you can see I'm not taking any chances, good water is so essential to your wellbeing & especially you having M.E..

Hello Sean ,lovely stroll around your town, and country roads. Paint job windows all makes it more real the progress is moving along nicely.feel good factor for you . I think shops closing for half day is a good idea. Where I grew up and worked in retail, we closed half day on Wednesday always closed Sunday.one or two shops in the area still close half day Wednesday. Most stores now only employ part time workers ,
when you work full time in a shop the half day and Sunday closing gave staff a welcome break.

I’m intrigued with the little terrace garden at your Welsh Cottage home, and you have the perfect view of it from your kitchen window and door. Have you thought of painting the white door that leads to the street? I think the green color paint you chose for the allotment shed window frame would look soothing and really charming as a back drop to all the pretty and colorful flowers cascading about. I look forward to all the positive progress you’ve been making.

Oh no, not painting the beautiful natural stone, Im referring to the white door at the top of the terrace garden. Green paint would make this door blend much better with the natural stone and colorful plants. The white door looks out of olace. Is that door made of wood?

I agree with you on that thought and i can just see a trellis style garden gate- door with climbing old fashioned roses cascading over it. What a gorgeous focal point that would be for your lovely Welsh terrace garden! In my garden the tall wooden garden gate door is curved on the top and at head height in the middle of the door is a round hinged shutter window that opens just like the round window in the door of the Wizard of Oz. It has a latch on the inside to lock it closed and i open it only when i want to look out.

Give an insight into the surroundings and daily happenings in the village. Fascinating that you have half day closing and all day Sunday closing of shops. I think that is fantastic….allows for some family time on the weekend. More of a rat race here where I live. Many shops are open 24 hours a day , 7 days a week. Crazy.
I wish I knew what I am doing wrong with my rose. I bought a climbing rose last spring and all it does is grow leaves. No roses. Any suggestions from you or your viewers. So disappointed.

This Sunday we had a meat free lunch, which is highly unusual for us on a Sunday, whilst baking a potato each for my hubby and I , I made a cucumber salad, with the whites of a few spring onions and radish, dressed with, sour cream a clove of garlic very finely chopped, some dill and black pepper ( no salt as it brings the water out of the cucumber) Then to fill the potatoes about 15 mins before they were done I sautéed an onion and red pepper, the added a can deep browned baked beans, to warm through.
Potatoes done ( which I had rubbed with butter and ground some pink salt over b4 cooking) after an hour at 375 f into which I had scored a cross, to serve oven off added bean mix to opened potato and topped with a slice of mozzarella put plates in still warm oven (off) to melt the cheese . Served with extra butter if needed ? With cucumber salad, it made a real change.
Then on Sundays only I make a dessert. But ! That is what we have for supper 🇨🇦
Monday Canada Day July 1st , we celebrated with BBQ’d Elk steak etc…

I have one of the stainless steel gravity filters and I love it, works quite well. I see another commenter mentioned this. Your shed looks fab! The window colour and shed colour are perfect, and aren't the new windows a treat. Thanks again for sharing your views! lol best wishes from the Pacific Northwest. One day I shall send you a magnet.

Like the green colour you chose. Reminds me of the paint we used in the 60s. Goes well with the dark stain. It's definitely cowl weather here in the East Midlands today, cold and rain. Got the fleece back on and getting the slow cooker out for a casserole. July or is it April? 😅

Shed looks v nice in those colours. Would you consider a small log burning stove in shed for winter? Friend of mine has one, similar to one you have on narrowboat, and he virtually lives in his shed all year round 😊

Sean, I also have terrible tasting water, where I live in Queensland, Australia.. I boil the kettle before bed and first thing in the morning I pour into a filtered jug, which is enough for me to drink through the day, with the horrid taste gone. This may work for you. Cheers

Reverse osmosis filters work very well, but for every gallon of clean you will produce 3 of grey water. Can be a nice thing for recycling, doing laundry, watering outdoors.. but it's a lot of effort.

I was concerned the filter woulld disapoint. Perhaos a Berkie filter would work. Available in small-medium size. It could be placed in your study since your cute little may not hold it. I like the color. Green is my favorite.😊😊

I normally only have roasts on a Sunday when the weather is cooler. In the summer, no special effort is made. Usually a decent sandwich. When I was growing up, my dad always had cheese on toast in the evenings on a Sunday. Not a tradition i've kept.

Good afternoon Sean, that sideways glance lol 😂 as Dick Emery says, you are awful, but I like you! I only have Sunday dinner when I have company round, after dealing with food all week in work it puts me off a bit! I was tapping my foot along to the music 🎵 very nice! That cellophane feeling again with the perspex 😄 A nice bit of tarpaulin would do the trick for shelter and shade inside the shed,it will keep it cooler and stop the birds pooping on you and the windows, if you decide to sit outside! 😂 take care Sean 💜

I love all the proper independent village shops you have there. The butchers is always busy....sign of a good butchers shop. The butchers, in the village where my dad lived on Anglesey, was always busy & that was a very good butcher. Its a shame they build these big shopping complexes, with all the big stores, as they kill the high street & the independent shops. They are difficult to get to as well, if you don't drive, but nowadays they think everyone has a car & can get to places. How times have changed.
