  • Scampy wasn't putting alot of weight on his leg after he jumped off of a roof. He could have injured his elbow joint or muscles. Radiographs showed that he probably had a muscle pull or strain that wil heal with time.

      That’s why you train your cats. All my cats know not to bite or scratch when I am examining them. They will scream and growl and hiss but they know I’m not going away until the job is done so they sit and deal with it. In pain or not.

    • @drugbuddy665
      @drugbuddy665 3 года назад +8

      No, you just don't know how to handle or raise cats correctly. Notice he says "when a cat tells you to quit, you quit." The difference here isn't with the cat, but with the handler. When you're paying attention to a cat's behavior, you can easily tell when to stop or change your handling. Most people only make their cats miserable with callous and rough handling, paying no attention to their boundaries or warnings. And there's no training or desensitization, either. HUMAN ERROR.
      My cat, affectionately named Skitzy Fitzy for his timid personality, has a similar elbow injury right now and I had no problem checking his range of motion. There are many cats who become fractious & need to be sedated in a veterinary setting, but this is almost always a result of NURTURE not NATURE. Take responsibility for your skill as a pet owner instead of making stupid comments like this, SMH!

    My cat broke his toe, but the vet wont splint it or cast it until they give him an x-ray. (We didn't have the money to do the x-ray, so the vet is treating it as an open wound with an injected antibiotic, pain meds & antibiotics at home, that I am giving him for 5 days.) The toe is pointing off to the opposite direction, so I'm pretty sure it's a broken toe... it almost looks as if he got the toe caught in something as he was jumping down from somewhere and that it almost tore from his foot.
    Questions for you: Is there any way I can splint this toe myself at home by wrapping it up and stabilizing it with medical wrap in order to ensure his toe doesn't heal the wrong way? If so, should I wait until the open wound is healed, the antibiotics are done with, and the pain meds are done?
    We go back for a checkup next week, but if they still won't cast or splint the toe, I'd like to give his toe the best chance of healing correctly by doing this myself. (We will probably be finding him a new home soon, as we cannot afford to have a kitty who likes to venture outside, but I'd like to make sure he's all fixed up before that.) Thanks for your input.

    Thank you for your video doctor I watch the one with the dislocated kitty leg because I have a kitten that all it did was jump down off the chair it seems to have dislocated its back leg. I may try letting it lay on a heating pad and see if I can massage it back because I won't have any money to go to a vet for three weeks. It must have some kind a weak condition why it came out of place so easy so I'm hoping somehow it goes back in place easy. At least now though I think I understand what has happened to it. I have a bunch of cats but I really like this little kitten she kind of makes faces with her eyes and talks with her eyes if that makes any sense kind of like her grandma was that I just lost a while back.her grandma always knew how to pull tricks on me when I was down and rile me and get me all mad and then make me laugh that you just had to bust up laughing thinking I don't know how you do it but you always seem to know when I need cheered up.Cats sure make a good little loving family for a person alone. I'll watch her a few days if it gets bad I might have to call the vet and try to work something out. Sure sucks being poor right now. I have another cat named little smoke she looks exactly like this cat in the video.

Sometimes when they chase toys or each other I see their back legs spread wider as their paws are going left to right.. idk if they're trying to do a serpentine movement or if there is something wrong with their hips..... Great video! My cat has had lameness in one leg for over 6 months. He's had xrays done and the vet found nothing wrong. No breaks or arthritis (he's only 3 years old). She found no cuts or swelling. Is there anything I can do for my cat at home? I feel that the pain is coming from his trapezoid area as shown in this video. He still eats,plays and jumps off of furniture (nothing really high). Thanks.

    My can is limping on left front leg, but it comes and goes. Day 1 he was limping. Day two walking normal and chasing a string during playtime. Day 3 limping again. And so forth. What could that mean?

    Just wanted to reach out to you and ask your opinion. My fiance and I had to relinquish several of our cats to our local Humane Society due to her having health reasons. One of our cats was pregnant and when she was getting fixed from them, they aborted the kittens. She was one of the cats that we had to relinquish unfortunately. I feel that they could have raised them with mama cat until they're ready for adoption. Is this normal for them to do? I just feel that they could have let her raise the kittens and then adopt them out.

    Dr.Greg,i have a 3 year old male shih tzu,i have him groomed every 3 months,so grooming time is next week,problem is, he has been licking around his back leg and lower belly,and has developed a raised up rash, i am using hibitane cream,but he keeps licking it off,can i use bitter apple spray on the rash without it hurting him,or do i need to get to get a cone? thanks ,,,Emily

      Better to prevent the itching by checking for fleas and changing the diet so that there is no wheat or other grains in the food or biscuits. You can use the spray or cone to help

    My cat seems fine, she's walking, she's playful and eats as usual but when she sits down she spreds her left leg. My vet told me she heard a sound when she placed my cat for an x ray, she explains that probably the hip joint was out of place, the x ray showed everything normal. But now after one week my cat is spreading her leg again, my vet told me it might be a constant subluxation in the hip but I'm a little unsure. I mean is a subluxation posible if she acts normal? Wouldn't she be in pain and not walking at all? 😢 I would love to read some opinions
