I never knew that this was not well known outside shelter medicine. The first thing our shelter vets do if a kitten is limping is check for a temp/calici.
The one day I was bringing my cat to my private vet. I apologized for being a few minutes late and told them that I had woken up to limping foster kittens and since calici had been going around the shelter, the shelter vets wanted to check them for limping kitten syndrome asap.
The vet and techs were very curious and had never seen calici cause limping in kittens. So when I returned to pick up my cat, they were thrilled that I brought info from the shelter vet on limping kitten and calici. 🙂

Zshock soda I’m only concern about the purrs they make when they’re happy in this video because hearing them make any noise when they’re in pain or uncomfortable are not soothing, despite what you might think. Just like everyone else when I hear those noises I want to see how I can help to make them comfortable and happy, I grew up around cats I know the various noises they make I might not be expert but at least I have an understanding so they won’t be in pain or uncomfortable. I’ve done my research behind cats purrs

One of my litters came down with this last year and it was exactly as you said: "What's the matter, buddy? did you hurt yourself? wait, why are you so hot? hang on, why is your SISTER limping too?!" That was also when their ulcers appeared, so there was the added bonus of, "OMG WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR MOUTH?!?!" - it was the first time I'd seen the virus in action and it scared the socks off me. It took quite a bit of extra work both on my part and that of our rescue's medical coordinator, but all four in the litter made a full recovery in about a week and it was SO worth it to see them bouncing back.

I wish I knew that a year ago... one of my foster kitten had these symptoms and the lady running the shelter kept telling me it was only the fever due to the vaccine, and that there was no need to take him to a vet. When we finally rushed the kitten to the hospital without her autorisation, it was too late and he died 3 hours later. And this lady keeps telling us it's our fault, that doesn't help. In my area, you have to have a designated room for kittens/cats. They have to be separated from my own cats. Maybe after my kids move out, might be something for me to do during my older years.

Just because people admire Hannah but don't toot their own horn doesn't mean they're not doing what they can to help. Some people are poor financially, or live in a situation where they are unable to take in cats to foster. Some people can only volunteer their time to help out at shelters or spend time with fosters at other people's homes. Every little bit helps. ❤

You know, the dog or cat that loves to greet you when you come home, cries when you leave, becomes depressed when you go on vacation, whines to get in your bedroom, snuggles with you as you sleep, leans into you when you scratch that spot behind their ears...that's cruelty to these people 🙄. I have my first group of foster kittens. Three five-week-old sisters. To prepare for their arrival I watched as many videos of yours as I could, including this one. We got the kittens five days ago and they haven't been putting on weight consistently. They have been acting okay until today when they got lethargic and I thought they might have a fever (although it's impossible to get a thermometer these days!). But when my husband saw one of them, and then two of them, limping slightly, I ran right back here to rewatch this. We're giving fluids and hand feeding and started clavamox at the direction of the rescue but our kittens seem (so far) to have a less severe case than the ones in your videos. We're doing our best and hoping desperately for a positive outcome! This information is invaluable and literally might save their lives since I knew to take the symptoms very seriously right away. Thank you!

Honestly your videos are so educational! My 2 month old kitten came to me this morning limping and I had such a fright! Despite popular belief, I googled this which isn't always a good idea and rushed to the vet. Bear in mind this is a famous vet in the UK, he had no clue about the vaccination doing this to kittens and to his astonishment, he learnt that this is one of the side effects. Now he knows the signs and can diagnose this on another pets so I'm so glad that google search and this video will help other cat owners!

I have an 10 week old kitten pretty much identical to the small white cats in this video. Four days ago he got his first vaccine and yesterday started to have difficulties with his left leg and felt very warm. I came across your video and what you were saying sounded exactly like what my cats symptoms were so I took him straight to the Vet where the Vet confirmed that he had a low fever and treated him accordingly. Thank you very much for your video it really helped my cat and now he’s back at home purring away.

Thank you so much! My kittens all had booster vaccines a few days ago & one who is particularly rambunctious has been more calm. This morning when I woke up he was limping & I thought he got hurt. After a couple of hours he was immobile, crying, not eating & had a fever of 103+. I found your video ASAP & knew that’s what it was. I was able to rush him to the vet & he’s undergoing treatment now. Thanks SO much kitten lady ❣️

vaccinations, too. They all recovered well after spending a couple days at the vet being monitored and getting fluids. Now I know! 😍👍🏻

    • @jocelync4935

Maybe, and this is just a thought. But, maybe they disliked because they disliked seeing the kittens hurting rather than a dislike of the content. RUclips doesn't allow a neutral button or other emojis like Facebook. The algorithm still counts negative responses. It's a lot more harmful to a RUclipsr for you not to respond than for you to dislike.

we got 3 kittens- and thanks to your Tiny but Mighty book we were able to tell when one of them had worms.
We wondered why she was the same size as her littermate sister but half the weight, read the symptoms and got our hands on some De-Wormer from a client at the Pet Food Bank we volunteer at
We got syringes for free from the Pharmacy in the mall nearby thank god. We gave her a dose of the de-wormer (her sister and brother as well to be safe as they're ALWAYS together) and within 2 weeks she's made noticable improvement- she's eating more, she's packed on weight, her fur is getting more sleek.
we still got one more doseage to give them in 2 weeks but prognosis looks exceedingly promising- we'd never have known FOR SURE if it was worms without your book Hannah thank god I pre-ordered it before it came out!!

Hello! My kitten developed these exact symptoms, and her fever was up to 105. As soon as I realized she had such a high fever I ran her to the emergency vet and she has been hospitalized for over 24 hours now. My vet thinks it's viral but he does not think it is limping calici because I dont think he's familiar with this iteration of the virus. I am very worried for my baby girl and this video is helping me right now. Her fever isn't coming down consistently, but the vet is monitoring her!

I have to say, thank you, thank you, thank you. I
have been following you since my little babies were born in November. Recently I noticed PInky, my tiniest was limping. Thinking her brother may have been too rough, I took her into her normal vet.
It was then that we discovered she had a very high fever of 105.7. I rushed her to bluepearl and had her put in overnight ICU until it could get under control. PInky had never been away from home, so the stress was adding to her issues. Once her fever was in a bit of a safer range, they let me take her home where I did sub fluids at home.
Her sister and brother also had it, but Bella only had a mild fever, and Mamoru showed no symptoms at all (except for a small lip ulcer). To be honest, at first I had thought they got into detergent.
I pushed the vets to check for calici virus due to your videos. They didn't think it was it Calici at first since the kittens have no contact with the outside world.
I think Mamoru picked it up at the ASPCA, as he was neutered just 3 days earlier.
Everyones healing up well, and I have been cleaning like mad to prevent it from coming back and mutating (we have 4 cats total in the house)
