Just bought this car. I have been using it since last March & I get about 22-23km/L with mixed usage between the highway, city, and heavy traffic. Always keep the RPM Indicator optimally around ECO and Charging, occasionally in Power when using the cruise control.
I have been driving this car since Friday (3days) . Superb vehicle and excellent fuel consumption . Having an electronic brake is irrelevant. The push foot parking brake works just fine . The fuel tank capacity is more than sufficient for long rides. Immediate indication of fuel savings. Toyota vehicles are very very reliable . I have been driving only Toyotas for decades. The best second hand value car. Just got an excellent price for a 12 year old Vios.
@@aryliciousxd2478 I have now driven 800 km with this hybrid. It’s giving me 4.8 litres per 100 km or approximately 22km per litre. However, I have kept my speed about 80km per hour with controlled acceleration. There is a power mode which gives amazing acceleration where the dashboard screen turns red. There is also the normal mode and eco mode. Almost all my driving is on eco mode in urban settings. This is excellent value for money over the long term financially even after considering the extra RM 8000 paid upfront. These are the basic facts based on my own experience and does not consider any personal likes or dislikes.
He keeps saying electric, it's a battery & engine. Also at 2.11 its reading 8.2 l/100km, unlss he has a full tank and it hasn't set yet, thats awful for a hybrid.
I think UMW Toyota should have chosen marathon city driving to showcase the hybrid system. A recent test by Taiwanese journalist driving the Altis Hybrid for 8 hours around Taipei City and the FC was 21km/L ~ 4.8L/100KM. The hybrid strength is regenerating during slow moving and braking which highway driving not able to do. Even my 2.5L non hybrid Toyota also did a 6.7L/100Km on highway from KL to Penang, so UMW could have shown the value of Hybrid in city driving instead.
on the other hand, i think they managed to debunk the potential anxiety of buyers with regards to long distance highway driving in a hybrid - as they are deemed to be not the best for. here its seems to be faring quite well. of course in city driving, the hybrid setup is simply the best
@@muhdarfanzaki1434 yea.. probably trying to convince buyers on its long journey comfort.. (or maybe treating the auto journalist on a nice holiday and good food 😁)
A great review. We don’t have this model in Australia yet but I was keen to compare this to Rav hybrid before I decide what to buy. I was worried about weak engine on the car compared to RAV but your review gives the sense the car won’t scream on highway driving.
Life span should be around 160k km or earlier (estimated 7 to 8 years on the road) and it depends on your usage too. RM 8k plus for batt. That's the price for prius and I was told the same for cross batt. Pay rm around 3k for extended warranty for batt. Worth it or not you need to do some math calculation.
honda insight bought in 2011, 11 years on, original hybrid battery still chugging the car along. i assume these newer tech batteries should be able to last longer
My answer is once you get this aa your new car, just start save aside RM100 monthly if you fear about the battery. Just like you buying an insurance. 5 yrs down you already have RM6k in pocket.
What petrol u put 95 or 97. ? Is it true if the corolla cross use 95 petrol there will be engine knocking sound as claimed in the Corolla cross owners in facebook. Pls give an honest feedback.
i`m not very impressed with 7.3liter / 100 km these are numbers can be reach by many none hybrid cars and it is far of the claimed 4.3L/100km 7.3L / 100km = 13.7km / Liter Also you say 1 quarter tank left from 36 liter = 9 liter with that 9 liter it shows you a range left of 93 km This means the last quarter tank gives you a range of 93km which is roughly 1 liter to 10km Which is really very bad
divide the number of liters per 100 km into 235.2. For example 6 liters/100km will become 235.2/6 = 39.2 mpg Or in the case at the end of this video 7.3 litter / 100km becomes 235.2/7.3 = 32.2 mpg
Nice, I’ll wait for facelift, see if it will come with EPB, auto brake hold, paddle shifter and move the USB port to the compartment above wireless charging station. Current USB port at the main unit will let the cable hanging, not a good design.

That sounds...I mean they kept your car for 5 months? That's either unbelievable, or you hit the worst timing possible with the whole covid stuff. Keeping your car for 5 months is not normal. We got short changed I reckon. EU/US gets the newer 5th gen 2.0l hybrid system which I reckon would be far better. More power too (combined 192ps vs the 122ps we get). Plus, foot parking brake...
But power of 1.8 hybrid engine is also good too with better fuel consumption. Actually, manual parking brake like handbrake/foot brake is more durable than electronic parking brake
I recently tested the hybrid and GR Sport Corolla Cross. The hybrid feels underpowered under hard acceleration when the engine emits a loud and weird sound. With the GR Sport version, it feels more powerful with hard acceleration and the growl of the engine sounds normal and not so loud in comparison to the hybrid. The engine of the hybrid sounds weird as if it's crying or whining like a baby in hard acceleration.
So don’t get me wrong , I still think your review is far the best locally , much more than Bengtures and Bobby Ang which use so much of “ ok “ and ok and “ you know “ .
36 liters ? wtf that is tiny small fuel tank for such vehicle I do not see a significant difference compare to non hybrid model???? The hybrid motor is a joke. It does not even help much

Toyota and their famous "TV" infotainment, can't they design a better looking one? What an after thought.
Agreed
More like UMW and their infotainment, must be some deal with OEM here. Oversea Toyota have a much better infotainment.
Because of cut cost, the same goes for other brands too. Anyways, at least infotainment screen for this doesn’t look bad
