As someone who was trained to cut dog's nails, please please please DO NOT do the peanut butter hack! 1. Your face is now right in the bite zone. Even if you think your dog would never, accidents happen and you don't know if they're going to get hurt, spooked, etc. and lash out. And 2. with your head in that position, you won't be able to properly see where you're cutting. If you cut too far or at the wrong angle you can cut the nerve that is in their nails. Thanks for reading my PSA :)

Good points! I've seen this "hack" done as putting peanut butter on the side of the bathtub when trying to wash them. So maybe there is a better spot to put the peanut butter so they can be distracted during nail clippings, without making it more dangerous?
@@ceekay3143 I agree! I actually have a rubber wall cling just for that purpose! You spread peanut butter on it and it sticks to the wall of the tub so they have a treat to be distracted with while you wash them. It can also be used on normal walls too, so I think that would be a much safer alternative than someone putting it on their heads. From my experience it didn't do very much because one dog is super old and mellow so he doesn't move around in the tub much anymore (he still loves the treat though) and the other dog is young and very anxious so she didn't pay much attention to the peanut butter once the water started going haha. Peanut butter on the wall also didn't work for us for nail cutting because they both hate it so much, so I need help holding them down and if that still doesn't work we just bring them to professional groomers and they do what they can. So it may be a hack for some dogs, but definitely not all lol
As a professional dog groomer, I do have to say that I have seen so many people get bit in the face trying the peanut butter hack to do their dogs nails. Please do not attempt this if your dog isn’t well behaved for its nails or has any type of food aggression, your dog will redirect the situation on you, and you will get bit. Nail trimming is usually the time when groomers are injured the worst. Please be careful, and please don’t try this. If you need a distraction, but the peanut butter on your fridge or any surface that is easy to clean, and keep your face out of harms way.

The cat thing totally depends on the personality of your cat. I’ve only ever had one that does the “will sit on anything on the floor” which includes my laptop, newspaper, random papers, ipad, craft projects, etc. Anything rectangular in the floor is her jam and I’m sure a taped square would be included.

Fun fact the height hack works because it’s natural anatomy and not anything to do with posture. You’re taller at the beginning of the day than at the end because gravity pushes on your spine all day squishing the discs, but the stretches open the spaces up so everything isn’t squished anymore.

You need carmex type chapstick. It helps a bit. Also under your nose.

I’ve heard some people say ethanol helps but for me it makes it 5x worse, it’s just double burn. It’s a perfect candidate for placebo tho, so some amount is definitely placebo, I’m really skeptical it really works.

For the apple drill/peeling hack to work, you have to run apples under hot, hot water to remove the wax that is placed on most Apples during production. Once the wax is off, the peeler doesn't fly off the apple. Also, use the hot water, apple trick to make caramel stick to apples when you dip them. :)
