My man Zach never gets the assignment. Like he fully doesn't even know what subject he's working on. In every single video it is my singular joy watching zach run around like that chicken from Moana to accomplish the tasks.
The reason this ended up being more of a “single hand only” challenge is because most right handed ppl think they never use their left hand, that dominant hand means its the one you use the most. But this isnt entirely true, you use both your hands as you see fit. One hand has control - your dominant hand, while the other works as support, you will struggle more if you lack any of them. Its not just that youre not used to have the left hand be the one in control - your right hand is probably not used to do the work of the left either.
I think it's more that they didn't want to revert to using their right hand by mistake so they over compensated by just not using their right hands at all. Which does change the challenge a lot, but I'm not sure for some of the challenges how they could have forced themselves to use both but still use their left as dominant. Eugene seemed to be the best at actually being left handed instead of one handed, which isn't really surprising that he was the best at something.

I love that this kind of turned into a "one hand challenge" instead of a left handed challenge, my husband was only born with one hand and the day to day challenges he faces still catch me off guard sometimes. Lucky Fin Awareness!
When I was in the first grade my "teacher" would not let me use my left hand she taped my fingers or made me sit on my left hand. She said she not going to have evil in her classroom. Fast forwarded thirty three years my daughter in her kindergarten class and the teacher told my husband and I at a parent teacher meeting that she was writing with her left hand and she needs to learn the right way to write. That's when we dug in our heels and said no we will not teach her to be a right-handed person she was born left handed and that's the way she's staying. I'm relearning to use my left hand. So now I'm kind of ambidextrous.

I'm cross dominant and I blows people's my that I can stuff with my left hand even though I'm right hand. To me, I never thought about until people pointed it out.
@@mcd08 no no no a spiral-bound notebook, those lovely lines dug into your arm from notes plus some nice ink or lead to just give it a good coating across your hand.
They did do lighters, ill give it to them. Highlighting sucks you can't see a thing lol. Don't wanna talk about can openers XD. They should have also included some fun scenarios where they are with another righty and another lefty. The lefty would show them how much we adapt to just switch hands-on command while the righty would just live out life doing most everything with their right hand. Along with showing the difference in strength between hands like squeezing a lemon or something. Show how strong both of the lefty's hands are compared to the average righty XD now that woulda been interesting.
Exactly! I call myself "functionally ambidextrous" because though dominantly left handed I can do almost anything with my right hand if I need to because I've had to learn throughout my life. I've even caught myself writing on the board right-handed (I'm a teacher) without realizing because I was holding something in my left hand and just picked up a marker and started writing. :D
“He doesn’t know what money is yet” god I wish that were me. Also anyone else notice that Eugene signed his letter Carol? That’s his character from the D&D video, right?
This makes me so happy. Like, us left handed people make jokes/fuss about the ink/pencil on the hand thing but it’s so fun to watch other people suffer through it and understand
I'm a lefty, but these guys are almost treating it like they don't even have a right hand to do anything. I don't get dressed with just one hand, or cut fruit with one hand. It's weird
I thought the same thing, but I chalk it up to creative license. I don’t think the video would really be interesting if they didn’t have the conceit of “not using our right hands”. It’d just be kinda mundane, right? Glad I’m not the only one who thought this though!
I came down here to see if anyone else had said this. I feel like Eugene making the fruit salad was how the challenge SHOULD have been... using your non-dominant hand as your primary hand for tasks, not ONLY using your non-dominant hand. If you're trying to discover the challenges left-handed people face, adding the extra challenge of doing two-handed tasks with ONLY your left hand just muddies the waters and makes it out to be a silly challenge, rather than a serious view of what it's like living in a world where most things are designed for right-hand-dominant people, IMHO.
Fun fact, when you're a leftie or become one, you basically forget you have a right hand too. It just stops working, it's programmed in the brain. Really awful
Actually as a lefty I feel I'm pretty good with my right hand. Alot of things are designed for right handed people so we kind of become used to using both hands
Even being a left-dominant mostly ambidextrous, there are some things my right hand does way better, and some things my left hand does way better. Right-handed chopsticks makes me feel like I'm 3 and still learning how hands work.
I am left handed A few things that should be mentioned: - 10% of people are left handed - school desks have right arm rests - spiral notebooks are a pain that we have to get used to - scissors are terrible - writing and having pencil lead all over your hand is annoying - left handed people always smudge when we write - opening doors can be weird sometimes - hearing “OMG YOU’RE LEFT HANDED” a lot - most left handed people have to conform to use their right hand because manufacturers make right hand dominate objects - left handed people have to either sit at the end of a table or sit next to another lefty or we will bump arms constantly - some left handed people have to use a left handed mouse - Companies have made special highlighters so left handed people can see through it and know when to stop - Left handed people are considered creative because we have to get creative in a right handed world, and we know how to adapt There is probably more I’m forgetting
Also I don't know if it's only me, but there's a lot of people who don't like that I'm left handed. I know that the left hand is portrayed as evil or dirty in other cultures and I get that. For example, this one time I was at my job and this Indian lady kept glaring at me because I was writing something down across the room from her. Someone's always getting mad at me since I don't do something correctly and they force me to use my right hand. Sorry, mind your own business and get over it
@@cassidythecat yeah even in the old days, at school they would force people to only write with their right hands and if they wrote with their left they would be punished and hit with ruler. Like some people are so fked
I never saw a left handed desk until college and I would never use that desk because it felt weird to have my left arm resting on something while writing
As a leftie I’m gonna enjoy this Welcome to my Hell. Can openers, scissors, computer mice, coffee cup handles... everything designed for someone else Added: watching them get ink all over their hands and twisting their wrists to try and write is that most vindicating thing I’ve experienced in a while. YES IT IS AWFUL
I’m left handed and don’t get dressed using just one hand. Also, many lefties were forced to use their right hand for tasks due to a lack of left handed equipment, such as scissors.
Eugene, knows what he's doing without mistaking the point of the challenge. Ned, Keith, and Zach are mistaking the left hand challenge as a one-hand only challenge, so being comedically adorable.
I've adjusted to that. What I haven't adjusted to is using utensils "the right way". My fork and knife are going in the hands I'm comfortable with them going in, thank you.
I don't think it's about the fact that they're using their left hands, it's about using their non-dominant hands. If one of them was a lefty they would have put a mit on their left hand. It's just to help them notice if they try to use it
This confused me right from the start, Im righthanded but when I open a jar or something obviously i need my left hand too so why wouldnt they do that when theyre switching hands 😂🤦
@@whatcanidooo uhh the video is literally called "being left handed for a day" but being left handed doesn't make you incapable from using your right hand... Especially with things where using both hands comes in handy. Pun intended
My reaction exactly. At the end of the day the side of my left hand would be covered in pencil and pen. And don't even get me started on how awkward it was to write in a binder or spiral notebook. I always had to take the paper out of my binder to take notes
@@leolacampbell8736 when I used spiral-bound notepads in school I always destroyed them. They have this pre-cuts with the dashed lines and at some point all my pages were always halfway seperated from the spiral. Even the ones that I didn't use yet. I also often used the ink ereaser on the side of my left hand because that's the place were the ink goes when you are a lefty.
What this challenge really needed was a left-handed person using only their right hand as a comparison to the right-handed try guys. That way it'd actually be obvious how much more adept we've had to be with our non-dominant hands. For example, when they cut fruits I realized that I, a lefty, sometimes use my right hand to cut things so I'd probably not have as much trouble with the challenge. Same with peeling oranges or brushing my hair. The main struggles with left handedness is that things aren't generally made with you in mind. Scissors, can openers, bottle caps, mouses, even keyboard and browser layouts (notice how things like related videos and the arrow keys are on the right side?). Left handed people become much better at using both hands than right handed people out of necessity. This video wasn't made by left handed people and it shows lol. Love the try guys (been watching for years) but this video felt a lot less for left-handed people than say for people who've lost a hand. [Sorry if I came off as angry or outraged, 😅 I'm really not. I honestly appreciated the video and found it fun (how the heck did Eugene make such a good wing), I just thought the execution left something to be desired.]
As a fellow leftie, this is EXACTLY what I thought. Like, I learned to use rightie scissors in kindergarten because the (two) leftie scissors were about as useful as a plastic fork in comparison to the (10+) rightie scissors that were brand new and cut perfectly. Lefties have no choice but to adapt. I love the try guys as well, and I enjoyed this video, but they could have really used a leftie perspective to drive the point home.
YES when I saw the mittens I thought “you do know we use are right hand?”. I was waiting for them to use scissors, open a can, write in a note book with RINGS. I would loved if like with other videos the talked to a leftie to see how simple things like baseball gloves for left handed people are hard to find and how little things that don’t seem like it can be left or right handed. The touched on it at the end but we didn’t get to SEE it and as much as I liked the video I wish there were more challenges that are actual struggles for lefties. Also your idea to put left handed people using their right hand is great bc I too feel like I do some things with my right better than right handed people doing it with their left
Omg can openers! My worst enemy! Lol I struggled soooo long with those dang things! Finally a few years ago I was gifted an electric can opener and boy is it heaven 😂
Y’all no 🤣🤣🤣 as a left handed person, this isn’t being left handed for a day. This was a one handed non-dominant hand challenge. Lefties still use their right hands! Life is just harder as a left handed person because tools and average products are designed with the right handed person in mind. If you want to REALLY experience what being left handed is like, I’d suggest a video where you try all left handed tools with your right hand. Because left handed people have to use right handed tools constantly and that’s the real struggle. But also LEFTIES STILL USE BOTH HANDS??? 🤣🤣🤣
I think that would be funny. But also it's so they don't instinctively use their right hand as well. Everyone but mostly Eugene had that little trust in themselves.
they started the video with mostly using their left hand but somehow transitioned to only using their left hand ???? 😂😂😂 i dont know how they reached that conclusion...
I’m a righty but I still thought the same thing. Like, I use my left hand to help with stuff all the time. No way I could do these things with JUST my right either. Oy....
The problem here: I tried this and to use ONLY your non-dominant hand is less thinking than switching for every task the parts the dominant and non-dominant hand do. It would be easier to switch the hands in a task when you figured out how to switch. But less thinking (and harder action) is completely ignoring the existence of one hand. Not title and initial concept of the video but mentally easier to progress with. But I get why as a lefty this is annoying.
Things that suck for lefties pens, binders, spiral notebooks, scissors, those desk at school that are attached to the chair, sitting next to righties at dinner, baseball unit in gym class.
When you’re left-handed, it’s actually illegal to use your right hand. Thank you for making this video and raising awareness of our left-handed plight.
Keith and Zack did not get the memo that this is the "act like a lefty" challenge not a "only use your left hand" challenge lmao. Like we use two hands to do most tasks just one's more dominant, it's not cheating to use your right hand as long as you don't use it for the dominant things haha
This video makes me so happy!! Being left handed is tough even though we are ‘’used’’ to it. We cannot use markers unless we want a colored hand and wrist. Writing in spiral and composition notebooks is nearly impossible. And dry erase markers? HA! When we get to the end of the sentence we are writing, we have erased what we already wrote lol! Gel pens? Nope! They will smear. I love what you guys do with ALL of your videos. You put a lot of thought into them and show different perspectives to help understand what others struggle with...RUclips would not be RUclips without you!
Left handed teacher here! Lefties CAN write on a whiteboard, but it took me a LONG time to figure out how to do it neatly. I sometimes still make a huge mess lol!

Lucky fin!! 😭 So cool.
Oh my word! I am so sorry that you ever had to experience such ugliness from a teacher. That is so awful.
I applaud you for standing up to stupidity, teachers make a huge deal out of a child being different and that just doesnt sit well 😒
WHAT?????!!!!!!!! That is some archaic quackery. I didn’t know they still practiced this stupidity.

When you’re left handed you’re kind of ambidextrous because the world is made for right handed people.
Can relateee!
THIS! Thank you lol people around me find it so bizarre I can do so many things right handed whilst being dominantly left handed
Yeah, the world kinda forces you to from the get go. I'm still mostly left hand dominant though.
So I’m also left handed and I’m constantly blowing people’s mind when they see me write things.... because I write completely upside down or sideways.

Yeah that felt awkward.

Yes this really bothered me the whole time
This isn’t the “one arm” challenge. It was weird they were doing basically all tasks one handed.

- 10% of people are left handed
- school desks have right arm rests
- spiral notebooks are a pain that we have to get used to
- scissors are terrible
- writing and having pencil lead all over your hand is annoying
- left handed people always smudge when we write
- opening doors can be weird sometimes
- hearing “OMG YOU’RE LEFT HANDED” a lot
- most left handed people have to conform to use their right hand because manufacturers make right hand dominate objects
- left handed people have to either sit at the end of a table or sit next to another lefty or we will bump arms constantly
- some left handed people have to use a left handed mouse
- Companies have made special highlighters so left handed people can see through it and know when to stop
- Left handed people are considered creative because we have to get creative in a right handed world, and we know how to adapt
There is probably more I’m forgetting
Also I don't know if it's only me, but there's a lot of people who don't like that I'm left handed. I know that the left hand is portrayed as evil or dirty in other cultures and I get that.

"Try Guys Try Being One Handed For A Day Using Their Non-Dominant Hand"
yes thank you
That
Y’all no 🤣🤣🤣 as a left handed person, this isn’t being left handed for a day.
That’s true! Lefty here
I’m a righty but I still thought the same thing.
Don't forget the can opener. I have a specifically lefty friendly one.

Keith and Zack did not get the memo that this is the "act like a lefty" challenge not a "only use your left hand" challenge lmao. Like we use two hands to do most tasks just one's more dominant, it's not cheating to use your right hand as long as you don't use it for the dominant things haha
I was thinking this the whole video, bc lordy it was annoying to watch 😂
This video makes me so happy!! Being left handed is tough even though we are ‘’used’’ to it. We cannot use markers unless we want a colored hand and wrist. Writing in spiral and composition notebooks is nearly impossible. And dry erase markers? HA! When we get to the end of the sentence we are writing, we have erased what we already wrote lol! Gel pens? Nope! They will smear. I love what you guys do with ALL of your videos.
