The only thing wrong with the pickled eggs that Eugene did is that they needed to sit a week longer so they are pink the whole way through. They are actually quite good that way :)
The only thing that made Ned's impromptu product placement better was Wes evilly laughing as if he understood exactly what his dad was doing
They need to do a 24 hour update post filming to see if anyone had food poisoning.

That's stupid. The whole idea of pickling is to prevent food borne illness. Also, the food was refrigerated after being prepared.

My mum's side of my family are mennonite and we all pickle watermelon. (I only mention the mennonite thing because I've never seen anyone other than mennonites do it where I'm from. Maybe it's popular other places, though.) It's done in the same brine and spices you would use for dill pickles (minus the garlic) and it is freaking delicious.
You cut the watermelon up into spears about the size and shape of a fish stick, and you end up with a little cap of rind on top of each spear. We use the whole watermelon, including the outer peel and the actual red fruit part. It surprisingly does not fall apart once pickled.
The watermelon sweetens the brine and it is absolutely glorious. Something about sweet and sour watermelon with a hit of dill is ridiculously good. Probably my favourite pickled food.
Pickled peppers are also amazing! We pickle them whole either on their own or along with other veg like carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, onions, green beans. You get hot pickled veg that are amazing eaten with meats like steak and pork chops or alongside sandwiches.
We pickle beets as well, which are nice with something like a roast pork. Not sure I'd do it along with eggs, though.
