Hahaha, you know, being French and living abroad, everyone always asks me to do the “inspector Clouseau” accent… but I actually have a very hard time talking like that! 😂😂😂
You've just taught me more about impressionist painting in the first ten minutes than I learnt in two years at art college. You have a lovely way of teaching. Subscribed!
The portrait was excellent, thanks for the tips, I will use in my work, a good week for you. It would be interesting to see a video at normal speed as it is relaxing to watch someone paint.
Thank you Paulo! Yes , I am trying to work on the videography and show more details in a less stressful way… hahaha it is also a learning process… 😋 thank you for always being there!
Fantastic. Thank you. Camille Pissarro had many aspects of influence on others. Perhaps a quick survey of these? Everyone loves a buffet! Wonderful work and pedagogy. Thank you so much.
I learnt more about painting from this short video than i did at art school, which destroyed both my joy in art and my confidence. Thank you! I can't wait to try this and get into painting again ❤
Before coming into this video I was so freaked out and stressed, but as soon as I heard his voice and the music it just calmed me down so much. Love the video!
Awesome instructional video. Ive always loved impressionism art but been intimidated to do it myself. I cant wait to try your methods and love the history of your teaching.. Thank You..
I love your 7 steps lessons!! I want to create a painting right away! You make it so easy to digest the most important concepts. And enjoy your French accent. Please do a Raoul Dufy for another fauvism 😍 thank you so much!!
Oh my goodness, I have not laughed so hard in weeks! Thank you so much. And I learned so much! My goal is an impressionistic painting of two of my favorite people - my late mother and my awesome mother in law - sitting in the garden at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. I'm a flat out beginner and this is so helpful 🥰
It was just incredible !!!! Inspired by this lesson and also tried my version of it ...and was very happy how it turned out...✌️✌️✌️😊😊 Thanks a lot sir !!
I really love your tutorial videos. Your instructions are clear and coherent and the close up shots of the canvas are very helpful to me. I would love a real time video to learn your technique as I have never had any training, aside from RUclips videos, and I am hungry for knowledge. Thank you!
@@mygeekfamilycotton Perhaps a little music might help, but for me, I find it all very interesting. Seeing the close ups of which brush and technique is used to place the paint is extremely helpful and I really appreciate you!
I came from the video where he painted his wife which is the piece behind his left shoulder and to see it in another video makes my tiny little heart happy 💛
Could you do some watercolor examples? I’d be so.pleased to see the techniques you use. Thanks for your videos - I enjoy them (even though I exclusively paint with watercolors).
Hey! Sure, will try to work on something. If I am not mistaken, I already have a few watercolor videos from a few years ago… but I will work on new ones soon!
Thank you, this was very interesting. I’ve been teaching myself to paint during the lockdown and have managed to produce a half decent painting of Flora, Roman Goddess of Flowers and Spring (without eruption damage). I’d like to see you do some landscapes please.
Beautiful and inspiring work! These videos are a favorite on Saturday mornings with my fancy breakfast. I’m wondering, may you could consider a real time live stream in the future?
Ah! Thanks for your comment Roger! And you know what? I was thinking about it! The thing is that I need several hours to make a painting, and it is sometimes a bit of a trial and error process, even though I try to plan everything beforehand. But I don’t say no... let’s see in the future!
You make it look easy! I wish I was a talented painter but it’s not to be. That doesn’t stop me from painting though! My Mom says I’m the greatest artist ever! Haha!!😜
Thanks for the compliment but don’t worry: I am still not happy about half the things I draw/paint… I think it is a journey, actually… each canvas teaches you something…
I really enjoyed this and learnt a lot thank you!! I would love to see the palette as you mix your colours, it would enhance the tutorial experience. Off to subscribe, looking forward to seeing your other videos! 👨🎨🎨🖌
I’m a pen and ink guy, and I feel like there are some methods that translate. So glad I found this, I wonder if the is a Van Gogh or Courbet (so)? I need to research the page! Thanks for the forgery 😜
Hey Matthew! Yes, I am sure you can find some connexions. I like pen and ink too, maybe will do something about that too... for Van Gogh, here is the video: ruclips.net/video/iZEPlW3HRoc/видео.html No Courbet yet, but who knows? Cheers
Can you please do a tutorial on one of Monet's close friends, John Peter Russell? He's one of my favourites and I'd love to see a breakdown on his style!
These videos are 💎, you do your paintings with so much ardor that it motivates me to start painting again. Loved this tutorial, Thank you so much :) Ps. Do you think I could use the same techniques explained in this video while painting flowers like Monet? Do you have any tips you could share?
Great job!!! I love your way of simplifying which is not that simple at all, at least for beginners/amateurs. By the way, your accent seems to be French, is it?? Saludos desde Argentina! Ya me suscribí!!
Hanzo-San, the name “impressionism” still comes from Monet’s painting. But they were close friends and often exchange about techniques and subjects. Arigatoo!
@@mygeekfamilycotton as far as I know manet’s “luncheon on the grass” is the first impressionistic painting as far as the brushstrokes in the background is concerned. In fact Monet got inspired by this and gave the “Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe” during 1865-66. There is no doubt in calling Monet the most “well versed and knowledgeable of the impressionists” basically the real deal of Impressionism but it’s Manet who started it. The difference between Manet and Monet as far as Impressionism is concerned is the difference between Poe’s Auguste Dupin and Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Sure Holmes is the real deal but Dupin is the first detective even before Holmes and set the template for Doyle’s novels. I rest my case. Great video by the way. Cheers!!
I might have missed it in all the comments but how did you print out the reference photo in 4 parts? I've been struggling with that! Love this style. You make it looks so easy and fun!
Thanks Cynthia! Painting IS fun and each new canvas is an experiment. To print in 4 parts, I have used Microsoft publisher (should be in the office pack, I think...), but I guess you would be able to use a different software?
a french man doing a french man impression is the best thing i’ve ever seen
