Can you do a quick performance comparison of the quad mini to your 4x4 mimo antenna from waveform? I am currently only getting B2 (15-30mbps down, 10-15 up) inside my house and anywhere on the ground level outside, I can occasionally get very weak N41 or N71 to pop up, but it quickly disappears. In one spot near my chimney on the roof I can get B66 and N41 to connect, but only if I lay the G4SE modem flat on its back, otherwise it grabs that B2 again (even though its in the same spot as when laying on its back). The B66/N41 combo shoots speeds up to 450mbps down and 5-10 up, so its very worth perusing. I'm trying to figure out which antenna to go for.
I just ordered the Quadpro using your discount thanks. Question I have the Nokia Trashcan model, so what pigtail do I need and would I connect to L1, L2, L3 and L4? Edit: Never mind I just went to the Waveform website through your link and found the answer. Great info I've been contemplating this for a while but recently our speeds have dropped from 20down/2up on average to 10down/.5up or worse, so time to get the Quadpro. @NaterTater Thank you! Just subscribed to your channel after watching tons of your T-Mobile videos. I'm trying T-Mobile now for a month or so since I've been stuck for years paying $110 per month for 200/25 cable internet. Not sure if you've heard of it, but I have a Panorama Antennas DWMM4-6-60 4x4 which seems very similar to the Waveform one and I'm getting high 100's down and 12-25 up. So far it's been reliable. If it doesn't work out, then at least maybe when I call to cancel cable internet, their retention department will offer me the $50 new subscriber rate.
@@NaterTater Yes, and coincidently, I found that my fastest speed was like you suggested with the Waveform with the middle two reversed. The Panorama antenna nice. At some point I will likely be able to swap out my two year old Arkadian for a gateway with the built in antenna connectors. At that point I might go with the directional Quad Pro because I have an application where I could use the flattened cable through a window.
Just be careful comparing my performance from different days/times. My speeds have been from 50mbps to 500mbps on tmobile. But typical now is around 200mbps down. With stock TMHI gateways.

Thank you for the informative video. I haven't purchased the Waveform yet for my T-Mobile. Right now I'm mostly connected to n71 getting 122 down and 20 up. But whenever it switches to n41 I've gotten as high as 300 down and but only about four or five up. You mentioned the 10-ft cable suffers a loss and I was wondering do they have a 3-ft cable because that's all I would need? So do you know why it seemed to have a better download speed with the antenna suction cuped on the outside of the window versus the inside of the window?
You can contact waveform and see if they would make a custom length cable but in general 3 to 10ft is not going to make or break your speed. Might just want to use the 10ft. Outside placement will typically be better than inside.
How does this stack up to their old 4x4 MiMO panel? I have mine mounted to the rafter of my garage pointed out the screen vent towards the tower (4 miles away) through the neighbors trees. I get around 200mbps down max. Do you think possibly mounting the existing panel externally would make a huge difference?
I really appreciate your videos for the information. Had a tmobile can with a 2x2 antenna from waveform with good results. Can died and I got the new gateway with the external antenna connections. Do I need to switch from my 2x2 antenna which I have !counted on the roof? I have a !metal roof so had poor signal in the house without antenna. I am waiting for connections to arrive so I can hook up my old 2x2 antenna and see what the signal does. I searched through all the comments and couldn't see that anyone e had tried a 2x2 antenna with the new gateway.

I believe you mentioned you always had the best reception using the internal antenna on the 3rd floor loft. But if I am reading the chart correctly @16:28 you get 165 Mbps down using the original antenna on the 3rd floor, but 232 Mbps down on the 1st floor.
Yes correct. It was odd I got that much faster download on the 1st floor. But that does happen sometimes and in this particularcase it could have been network deprioritization. However I always get very poor upload with the gateway on the 1st floor. Also if you look at the signal metrics table at the end of the video you can clearly see the 3rd floor has much better signal metrics than the 1st floor.
Nate; I have had T-Mobile for couple years now, but my signal inside is 2 bars with an occasional 3 bars then back to 2 . Would a Waveform 4X4 Mini outside push my unit to 3 or 4 bars by your experience.. I'm seeing that your signals seem to be less than mine and it appears that you are increasing pretty good.. I just ordered a HiBooster that I watched yesterday on your video, but now I'm thinking that I might have just gotten an outside antenna for better speed.. Any suggestions - I'd like to get up to 300M-400M range but again I have not done anything yet.. Thanks in advance
What your recommendation between the Pro and Mini ? My cellular metric shows all poor except signal quality is good /excellent. Tower is about 4miles and no line of sight. Thanks 200mbps download 22upload 22ping
Right now we are just using the Verizon 5G box sitting upstairs. my 5G signal is 105. Getting 300/20 (maxing out) with a 27 ping but getting random packet loss. I'm thinking about getting one of these and putting it in the window. Do you think it would make a huge difference getting it outside the window? It looks like the waveform kit comes with the window adapter so I can try it inside and out? I may be wrong but it appears you are picking up an antenna pretty far away?
@@NaterTater I'd like to reduce jitter and packet loss and maybe reduce ping a little bit. My phone, in my driveway, is seeing about a 15ms ping. But exactly, there isn't much to gain.
Yes, 1234 in order. I also tested 1324 and effectively got the same speed. It's always advised to check different setups to see if you get better speeds with one or the other.
Would this Antenna be beneficial in consistency? My son plays alot of fortnite and recently it has been suffering from ping spikes. My speeds are great but the consistency of the signal seems to be not as great. Could one of these help? Thanks
Just ordered the Quadmini. Right now I am getting descent download speeds, but having some latency issues. Out of all the data for the cellular metrics, the my LTE SINR is the one that is the worst: -15 at times. I am getting SINR of 40 for 5G. Both LTE and 5G are showing RSRQ of -11 and RSRP of -90. Hoping the antenna will help with the latency. Do you have any other tips or tricks? thanks
The antenna should help, however the downside to the mini is its omnidirectional which means its worse at improving SINR since it picks up signal from all directions (a good and bad thing). So if it doesn't do what you need you might want to consider a directional antenna like the quadpro or LPDA's. With the QuadMini you can try leveraging your house to block unwanted signal from the direction opposite of the tower.
@@NaterTater So i got the new T-mobile modem that allows you to hook up an external ant with the quad mini hooked up. However, my signal looks strogner, but I am still dealing with latency issues, download speed is lower than up load speed, and packet loss. Any ideas on how to fix this? This has just been an issue over the past 3 or so weeks. Thanks.
any idea as to why it would make my connection way worse? I hooked this up to my Arcadyan KVD21 and it had detrimental affects on my download/upload and ping. the stock antenna had much better speeds all around.

I know that tmobile 5g home is not ideal for online gaming but it is my only option in my location. download speeds are fine. usually around 200-250 and upload around 12. Those go lower during high traffic times. My ping is the problem. Pretty inconsistent. Usually around 35-45ms for ookla speed test. I play valorant and I sit at 60ms average, 45 ms at very low traffic times. Restarting my gateway also seems to lower my ping down to that 40-45 range and will go back up after a bit. It also spikes pretty frequently. I would say probably 5 times per game it will spike to 300ms. Impossible to stream too. I have severe ping issues when streaming in discord to my friends. I even get ping spikes somtimes when my gf is watching netflix in the living room. This shouldnt happen as I have good download speed and okay upload. Would this be an effective way to get that ping down or is probably due to my location? I used to have xfinity and lived a couple miles away and got 20ms in valorant. I want to try to get it to around 30 ms while gaming. What is the best way to attempt to do this? Most of the external modem router combos I have seen are focused on improving speeds and I don't really care about that. I would be fine with 20 down as long as my ping was steady. Thanks in advance for the help.
I tried the Pro and the Mini. Both performed poorly with reduced speeds and only slightly better metrics. I spent days crawling around everywhere aiming it in every direction except the sun. I tried, porches, windows, the ground.....the roof, everything. And, when I used the included 20ft cable, my signal dropped to 4g at the gateway. I'm really baffled. And the most confusing thing was that neither antenna would function when mounted above the roofline. The gateway consistently performed better on its own.
take off those LOSSY 90' adapters! Very lossy at the SHF frequencies used by LTE and 5G. 1GHZ - 5GHz. go look up the losses on coax and connectors. Also get rid of the LOSSY under-window coax. Those are VERY bad for the signal. Very impactful to the signal level. It is entirely possible to LOOSE all of the gains from the antenna via the poor connectors and coax!
Yes every cable and connection has signal loss. Its a balance of installation ability, placement and cable loss. If you want to learn more about these specific components, their loss and the effects on speed see ruclips.net/video/aqLhtT4AdYs/видео.html
Around the window, in the window, and different areas of my den. I live in a midrise condo and about a mile and a half from the tower. I get downloads between 400-500 and uploads around 50-80 so I guess I don't really need it. It’s a good antenna but just doesn’t help in my situation. Good video as always.
Lot's of testing, but I get the impression it's all meaningless because internet service varies hour by hour and day by day. Unless you run multiple tests at the same time, you're just looking at the variability in the signal due to cell tower and atmospheric effects. The only clear difference is for outside tower and upload speed. But then, the second best upload speed is 1st floor inside window which avoids the hassle of installing a tower.
There is certainly a lot of variables to consider including what you mentioned but also what bands you are connected to. For these types of videos the testing is back to back within 1-2hrs to help eliminate the time/day issue.

You can contact waveform and see if they would make a custom length cable but in general 3 to 10ft is not going to make or break your speed. Might just want to use the 10ft. Outside placement will typically be better than inside.
@@NaterTater Thanks. When you say outside does that apply to using the suction cups on the outside versus the inside of the window glass?
@kip5588 it does but the suction cups are probably not a good permanent mounting option for outdoors.
If the window is made of E-glass, the window will block the signal.
Yes, outside and higher to help clear more of the trees will make a difference.
I dont know the best ports for a 2x2 on it. It should work but not nearly as well as a 4x4.
Go 4x4
Where did you buy those right angle adaptors? Plz send me a link or web site. I bought the Waveform Quad Mini antenna but having a terrible time finding those right angle connectors/proper size.
Links are in the video description. 90 Deg Antenna SMA connector: www.waveform.com/products/right-angle-sma-male-to-sma-female-adapter Or on Amazon (not Waveform brand/certified): amzn.to/464V42q
@@NaterTater Thxs/I really appreciate it 😁
I believe you mentioned you always had the best reception using the internal antenna on the 3rd floor loft.
Show us how to hook it up to both Arcadias!!!!!!
In detail-walk through.!
An outdoor 4x4 would give the best performance. A booster is more for cell phones than other routers.
What your recommendation between the Pro and Mini ? My cellular metric shows all poor except signal quality is good /excellent. Tower is about 4miles and no line of sight. Thanks
200mbps download 22upload 22ping
@@jojonshy pro for sure
Thanks I just purchased pro with your discount
@@jojonshy awesome, let us know how it works
Is it truly omnidirectional, or would it work better to aim towards the cell tower?
Its omni! See ruclips.net/video/aqLhtT4AdYs/видео.html
What's your objective? If maxing out the verizon throttle at 300/20 not much to gain.
@@NaterTater I'd like to reduce jitter and packet loss and maybe reduce ping a little bit. My phone, in my driveway, is seeing about a 15ms ping. But exactly, there isn't much to gain.
Nate, can you confirm the QuadPro Mini antenna connection order for the Chester Cheetah 1-4 order. Thanks
Yes, 1234 in order. I also tested 1324 and effectively got the same speed. It's always advised to check different setups to see if you get better speeds with one or the other.
Thanks for the quick response Happy Easter.
What antenna do I need. I live on the third floor I get 4 bars with my T-Mobile gateway.
@@frankterrazone9686 quadpro is the best!
Hey Nater, is Chester still your fav 5g router? Does it have many drop offs?
Yes, working well!
Would this Antenna be beneficial in consistency? My son plays alot of fortnite and recently it has been suffering from ping spikes. My speeds are great but the consistency of the signal seems to be not as great. Could one of these help? Thanks
@matthewfredregill2516 yes the antennas help with ping. 3rd party gateways help even more with loaded ping.
@@NaterTaterI am not very tech savvy, what do you mean by 3rd party gateways?
Thanks.
Do you get data deprioritized? On the t-Mobile?
Yes, TMHI is always near or at the bottom for priority.
I myself have not had a problem. yet.
any idea as to why it would make my connection way worse? I hooked this up to my Arcadyan KVD21 and it had detrimental affects on my download/upload and ping. the stock antenna had much better speeds all around.
@rockymountainy7816 what order did you hook up the antenna leads?
@@NaterTater straight off the wave form site. Cable 1 to M cable 2 to m1 cable 3 to m2 cable 4 to D
@rockymountainy7816 I'm having the same issue. I'm going to try some more areas otherwise I'm returning it.
@j.morales3166 I ended up returning mine I tried multiple different areas high and low and nothing worked.
Good morning... I'm confused...if I have a D-Link Router...one antenna to get Internet from my provider...how I'm going to connect this quad unit which has 4 cables....??? Thanks
@tonypower5625 this is for cellular based internet
Waveform MIMO 4×4 how to connect it to the newest T-Mobile home Internet, because the portal names are different. For example, in one and M2 and then your device a1 a2
I actually just found your other video. Thank you so much.❤
Think you have the t mobile backwards. The back of the gateway faces out the window. You have it backwards.
Which timestamp are you referring to?
An antenna outside will help with ping.
No a vs b antenna speed numbers
Which antennas? Mini to pro?
I tried the Pro and the Mini. Both performed poorly with reduced speeds and only slightly better metrics. I spent days crawling around everywhere aiming it in every direction except the sun. I tried, porches, windows, the ground.....the roof, everything. And, when I used the included 20ft cable, my signal dropped to 4g at the gateway. I'm really baffled. And the most confusing thing was that neither antenna would function when mounted above the roofline. The gateway consistently performed better on its own.
I just tried the mini. Actually made things worse for me. I went for very good to good signal in same spots. Even upstairs it got worse.
@NetworkNinja84 I personally ylthink the company has more hype than anything. It seems to me that direct line of sight to a tower is required
I'm experiencing the same thing. Going to try more spots.
Waveform tells u to crisscross 2to3 and 3 to 2
I've done both ways. Depends on your signal, might be similar or one better than the other.
Well that looks kinda cheap with those zip ties. I would have expected better from Waveform.
Zip ties are the norm for smaller antennas like this that I have seen but agree they are cheaper than a big U-bolt.
Dude is showing off his 3 million dollar house
Meh, was a little over $600k but that was 7yrs ago. I cant afford $3M.
take off those LOSSY 90' adapters!
Iv’e tried it but it doesn’t get me any better speeds than the internal antenna.
Where did you place the antenna?
Around the window, in the window, and different areas of my den. I live in a midrise condo and about a mile and a half from the tower. I get downloads between 400-500 and uploads around 50-80 so I guess I don't really need it. It’s a good antenna but just doesn’t help in my situation. Good video as always.
@gene430 did you try outdoors? And yes those are great speeds as is! Might be limited by the tower even.
Unfortunately I can’t, the HOA wouldn’t take kindly to that. All is good :) Thanks Nate.
