If you have more questions about God and suffering or just want to learn more, we'd like to recommend a few resources: David's book, "When God Isn't There" focuses on those who feel far from God or feel like he is absent. This book talks about how God's absence and God's sovereignty over suffering are both for our good: amzn.to/32P7xI1 D.A. Carson's "How. Long O Lord?" is one of the best reflections of how to understand suffering and evil in the world. It not only offers a brilliant treatment of Job, but also addresses other difficult Biblical texts that deal with suffering: amzn.to/2vGchn3 For a powerful and relatable treatment of how to understand and walk through the relationship between God and suffering, we'd suggest Timothy Keller's, "Walking with God through Pain and Suffering": amzn.to/2TnJ1us Finally, for a very technical treatment of Job as a literary work, that also helps provide answers to the book's overall theology and contribution to questions about suffering, we suggest Robert. Fyall's, "Now My Eyes Have Seen You": amzn.to/2uTqCMJ
Another incredible new book I just finished TODAY (not by coincidence) is "Proven Genuine: An Examination of Suffering in The Book of Job" on Amazon. Very convicting and encouraging!
Wow, thank you for sharing. So sorry to hear about your brother. Praying that God draws you closer to him during this and brings you comfort and peace in the midst of this difficult time.
My parents divorced. It ruined the family. We lost our house. I went off to college and then my dad's place burns down and because of bills from the forclosed house he couldn't pay the insurance bill so I dropped out even after working hard to be a deans list student and go back and help my Dad. Not long after his mother died and then his father. My high school best friend killed himself and two months and a day later my college best friend killed himself. I was homeless. Sleeping in a slide and some of my "friends" had made a mocking and cruel comment on twitter while I'm laying there crying and they are warm in bed with all their earthly needs met...my stomach hurts. When things start looking up I find out my "business partner " had been lying and manipulating me. I left with nothing after years of hard work. I've wanted to die so much. God take me... But I didn't. I had seen what happens when someone takes their own life to the few that loved them. So I fought everyday. It was hard. REALLY HARD...it was lonely. It was humiliating... And then I met Mr. Hagen. And he brought me back to God. And it was nice. And one day I decided to flip open the bible to a random page and start reading... The book of Job And I cried tears about my life for the first time WITH TEARS OF JOY GOD IS GOOD. I'm 26. My place is paid in full. My car is paid. My bills are minimal due to house hacking. I bought my Dad a Rolex and myself one. I've helped friends buy a used car. I have a great best friend. Money comes easy to me more than I ever thought possible. It's so funny to me because reading Job 😂 God thank you for giving and taking. You are KING always and forever in my ❤️ Be good and love the Lord. -Mardu (past pastor) 💜💜💜
Wow!! Thanks so much for sharing your story, Nick. Really powerful to hear how God was with you throughout the really tough times. To God be all the glory! God bless you 😊
🙌🏽 my story is so similar. In 2020 I opened the Bible it opened to the book of Job……it took my breath away in a good way, I sobbed with joy. God used Job to save me and bring me into His Kingdom and meet Jesus. 🙌🏽✝️🤍🙏 Thank you Spoken Gospel for doing a video about Job. I just found your channel today.
Wow.. that's a touching story. I love that it ends with your relationship with God our Father and His Son Lord Jesus Christ. What success... God is good all the time. All the time God is Good. In Jesus name Hallelujah
The thief comes to steal kill and destroy, I have come to give life and give it more abundantly John 10:10 God does not take anything he should never be likened to a thief. Job said this because he did not understand that Satan existed in the first place and gave him a foothold by sacrificing offerings on behalf of his family out of fear. GOD DOES NOT TAKE ANYTHING, HE ONLY GIVES! If God says He formed your child in your womb why would he take (kill) it away. What kind of schizophrenic god do yall serve? The devil STEALS KILLS AND DESTROYS. God give LIFE ABUNDANTLY.
@@IloveF-CXandF-CFalconViper God didn't take it the devil did. It was Jobs fault. Not God. John 10:10 the thief only comes to steal kill and destroy, I have come so you would have life and more abundantly. The devil went to God and asked for Job, Job had an open door to the enemy of fear. He was making sacrifices for his family out of fear they had sinned. If Job had only made his one offering instead of all the extras the enemy could not have stolen his family. Job blamed it on God because he was not aware of the devils existence, and back then they believed that God was in control of everything (same as now) when the devil is called the god of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4. He had dominion here until Jesus took back the keys of death hell and the grave. The devil is an a-hole not God. He loves us so much that He sent his one and only son to die for us. He lived a perfect sinless life and was tortured on the cross so He could save the very people who put Him on it. I hope one day you can see God for who He really is. I'm sorry for any hurt you've experienced from Christianity. Some people are not the best representatives for Jesus, and I can definitely be one of them. We aren't perfect but we should strive to look and love like the Father.
I was looking for an intro to a Bible Study but I think I just found my finale. I cried at least 3 times. Powerful story and an even more powerful God. Bless you as you continue your work.
My wife and I lost our baby boy almost a year ago today!....And my wife just told me that I helped her keep her faith during that trying time in our life. All I did was.....Around the time when he died, I told my wife the story of Job....She still has a hard time with his loss, but doesn't blame herself or the Lord like she started to do! So it did my heart good to hear that something I learned as a child in church...CHANGED her negative way of thinking and helped her keep her faith. I hope my story helps someone else out there!!!! GOD has a PLACE and a PLAN for ALL OF US. 👍👍👍👍
Our family suffered a major loss when our youngest boy, just 10 years old, died in a freak accident three years ago. The book of Job had been something the Lord has brought me back to again and again as I have personally sought to grow in my faith in spite of the intense grief of losing my little boy. Fast forward to today.... We are a homeschool family and Job is what we are currently working through in our Bible study work. THANK YOU for this encouragement this morning. I found your video "by accident" and was not prepared for the balm it would be for our still-hurting hearts. May God bless this ministry richly.
As a new believer at 18 in 1988 the first book of the bible I read in NKJ was Job. I too have shaken my fist at God for my lower than average iq but I still know He has carried me this far.
Thank you my Christian brethren for explaining the story of Job (Ayub in Islamic tradition). It was such a strong support for me in my trials. Thank you.
I needed to hear this. I’m still in the middle of a storm for the past 2 years, from losing a dear mother, losing my job, my assets, savings, difficulty in finding work, health issue of the family due to depression, my children dropping from school, from abundance to not knowing where to get the next meal, from thoughts of giving up.
Made me tear up as I got to the conclusion. I believe this is a great resource that doesn't answer the question (Just like the Book of Job), but assures the broken hearted of completeness in Him, than the things lost in this world. Easier said than done. Thank you for producing it Spoken Gospel.
I feel like Job. I have endured so much headache and pain in my life, and I'm still going through it. God knows 🙏 that I am so tired of this world 🌎.I was born in a poverty-stricken neighborhood. I've had two really bad parents. I've been through Hurricane 🌀 Katrina. Suffered two miscarriages. The list goes on and on. I'm tired. I really don't know why God keeps putting me through this. I love ❤️ GOD but I don't know how much I can take.
WOW!! I got it! In my suffering I still have to love, trust and fear Him. Goodness is going to be the result of my suffering. You guys are way too young to be so wise...thank you!
I am going through similar experience like Job. At times, the pain is too much to bear. At times of my hopeless, dewair, and doubt, God shows me mercy and grace! In times of my of my distress and suffering, I have trust God in His good plans and promises!
The Spoken Gospel team is so gifted! Over and over again I am amazed by the content on this channel. So creative, so moving, so theologically rich and deep. Your videos have greatly enhanced my daily time with the Lord in His Word. Thank you so much for your love for the Word of God and for all that you do! To God be the glory!
Thank you to everyone involved in making these videos. I can only imagine the time that’s put into them from writing the poetry, to organizing the acting and sets and then the video editing. I can tell you that your labor and efforts are having an positive impact on people’s faith, including mine. The way you share God’s word is powerful. Thank you again. 2 Corinthians 13:14
The problem is that Job was never brought up to speed about this “wager” between the Satan and God, so he really couldn’t give a complete testimony. When Job asked God why, God refuses to answer his HONEST question and tries putting him in his place. To me I have hard time with this book, jealous love is not true love. If God is like a Father to us, we would never put our kids in these cruel conditions to test their faith/“love” in this manner. It’s like when you get married and you’ve taken your vows, you trust and love your spouse unconditionally. Why would I then start testing their “faith” or love if they’ve done nothing but keep to the vows. That would be jealousy, and true love is not jealous.
I lost the man i was believing God for..but God..i love you even if i never get what i want or prayed for. Teach me to see only you and put you first. Even if the whole world leave me i will still praise you. I love you
First time on here I feel like I've lost mostly everything I worked hard for and one person I truly loved it's a painful journey and long journey my pain has been going on April 2020 up until today I'm hoping this pain and bad luck will pass as I'm exhausted mentally
Thank you for this inspired instruction. I was already onboard with God’s incomprehensible majesty and the absurdity and arrogance of judging that which is infinitely beyond our comprehension. But in the end you brought the truth bomb home. Holy Jesus is ground zero. He knows suffering, injustice, torture, and all sin, not just cognitively, but experientially. Praise the Lord. Excuse me while I go rethink my life.🙏
Shalon from Oklahoma!!! This channel is such a blessing for my study oif the Old testament and helping to now only understand, but to apply it to the foreknowledge of prophecies and speaks of to the New Testament.
Thank you very much. I got my answers simply by the two questions you asked at the beginning. I finally understood the meaning of this story. God bless you
❤ everything was "TAKEN" and JOB STILL CALLED GOD BLESS...❤ THRU TRIALS. THO JOB QUESTIONS GOD ASKING WHY?? GOD WAS PUNISHING HIM. WHY WAS HE SUFFERING?? GOD SHOWED US AS MANY EXAMPLES In the book of JOB FOR the understanding of THE SUFFERING OF JESUS..❤AMEN # TO HAVE BETTER UNDERSTANDING #TRUST IN GOD THRU SUFFERING
Amazing! I wanted to ask if you explain the part when Job says: What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me- Job 3:25. I've always wondered what he truly meant about that. Love your videos! Thank you!
Thank you so much! So happy that you’re loving the videos! As for Job 3:25, Job is lamenting over everything he has lost. When he says, “What I feared has come upon me,” his greatest fears have come true. We don’t need to read into this and think Job was walking around every day fearful that something bad was going to happen to his family, property, and health. Rather, these are things that anyone would dread happening to themselves. Job is basically saying, the worst fears that beset the world have fallen upon me. It is powerful lament language. Hope that helps!
[re: what I dreaded came upon me] Job became like the senseless nameless brood that he tried to place a protective covering around (see chapters 29,30,31)
Thank you very much to create this video, it convinced me again no greater love than Jesus love for every one of us. Keep up the wonderful work. GOD bless you all abundantly.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away ~ Blessed be the name of the Lord Where was I when the Lord gave? - and where will I be when the Lord takes away? - surely I'll be in the same place Perhaps it's not the meaning of life that is so important but rather the life of meaning? Neverthemore and nevertheless, it seems clear that the presence of life seems to be not only the all in all but life in all And if God is life, and there is death in life, then there is life in death.
I love this and your explaining is amazing. Thank you thank you for sharing!! The book of Job in the Bible is my favorite story. It always makes me so thankful for everything and hopeful despite bad things going on. I red Job in a hard time in my life and I am greatful that I came across this book. Thank you for sharing this.
I felt blessed overflowingly after watching this ♥️ thank you for creating such elaborate videos in a very interesting way. I hope for more people to see this.
My ex partner and I broke up a month ago. He is the first man I ever truly loved and I thought we would be together forever. It’s a shame that we didn’t last but I trust that Lord knows what’s best for the both of us. If he is the right person for me, God will bring him back according to His will. If not, God will bring in someone who is right for me. I don’t understand what God’s plan for me is just like Job. But I believe that God will give me a happy ending like he did for Job 🙏
The soundtrack of this video series is great, Is there a way to listen to them anywhere? If not, you'll should consider putting it up as an album cause it's beautiful.
This video was interesting eye opening and by my life lately also in December of 2020 I git hit by a suv and i had a few beloved things werer with me including my new phone which was unharmed thanks to my Christian God of the Baptist Bible but now it is misplaced and I hope and pray I get it back thank you the inspiration and making this video and anyone out there in a bad place like Job if you walk with the Lord you can best believe he will walk with you too!
My wife has struggled with hardship all her life. Abusive parents, teachers, classmates, past boyfriends. You name it. The thing is, she always prayed to God for help, but it never seemed to come. She refuses to not believe in God, but stories like this only convince her that her destiny is to suffer for God's plan. And if that's her fate, then she'd rather die. While I can bring up examples of grace and blessings in her life, they pale in comparison to the suffering. Honestly, I'm not sure what to do :(
Thanks for the video. I would also recommend watching InspiringPhilosophies perspective on the story of Job, its very unique and makes a lot of sense too
Great way to compare the different diatribes like defenses in court. One of my drama teachers pointed out that Job reads like one of the first scripts and the different voices in the dialogues feel like they are meant to be read like a play. Thoughts on Eliphaz?
Yes! It does read a lot like a play, or in this case, a court transcript. I have a lot of thoughts on Eliphaz! Haha. What are you wondering in particular?
Spoken Gospel where is Elipaz being insightful and when is he just being hot headed and young? He seems to accurately analyze some of the problems with the other three friends but still not be quite on the same page as God’s overwhelming heart. What do you see his role is?
@@keepperspective It is difficult with any of Job's friends to parse right from wrong. I believe the goal of Job is not for us to try to sift through the friends' wrong responses to find what is right or redeemable in them. Rather, I believe the goal of reading the dialogues from Job's friends, even Eliphaz, is to provide a thorough discussion on what's called "retributive justice." This is the idea that good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people on a one to one basis. If something bad happens to you, you did something to deserve it. This is the ideology God says is wrong. Job shows us that our suffering accomplishes more than just punishment for sin. Sometimes, our suffering can be a part of something bigger God is doing - namely gaining glory for himself or refining us into more holy people. As for our instinct to say, "Well, not all of what Eliphaz and his friends said is wrong," I think that is one of the problems Job is highlighting. Bad theology is often laced with good intentions and other right ideas about God. However, a little poison ruins the whole dish, if you will. Using right theological claims about God to prove a wrong theological conclusion does not make the right claims redeemable. Instead, this observation should cause us to look for theological claims that are really wolves in sheep's clothing. Ideas that sound like they have a lot of right and biblical ideas in them, but that draw wrong and unbiblical conclusions. I hope this is helpful.
Spoken Gospel Lovely answer and quite a clear cut through of the argumentative overgrowth to expose the root of the problem. Part of the sticky bit is it is quite easy for us to detect the biblical parts of a premise and then get muffled about objecting to the unbiblical conclusion. As you say, the enemy’s strategy, seen even in the throne rooms scenes, is reduction, have less of God and fewer biblical premises at all. If you leave out a bit of God’s character, you can still sound like your own the straight and narrow while going the absolute opposite direction. So in Job’s friends we recognize when the right sound resolves to discord, as Michael Card says, “They all sound so right but they’re wrong about you.” Underneath the accusations leveled at Job always lie attacks on the character of God, that he is too harsh, too simple and too small for Job to worship Him for His own sake. So God’s answer is always his overwhelming size and completeness, or as Paul says, to put the total fullness of God accessible to us in Christ. And then there is nothing to do but bow down and worship.
On a structural level, why not summarize Eliphaz with the three friends? Why is it not four friends? The books structure introduces him so late, outside of the pattern of threefold argument and response. Why is it important that he is separate and last?
Ecclesiastes 7:13-15 Easy-to-Read Version 13 Look at what God has made. You cannot change a thing, even if you think it is wrong. 14 When life is good, enjoy it. But when life is hard, remember that God gives us good times and hard times. And no one knows what will happen in the future. People Cannot Really Be Good 15 In my short life, I have seen everything. I have seen good people die young, and I have seen evil people live long lives.

Excuse me while I go rethink my life.🙏
The first time I read the book of Job I didn't understand it, but I came across this video and it helps a lot
So glad to hear!

Amazing! I wanted to ask if you explain the part when Job says:
What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me- Job 3:25.
@@SpokenGospel Thank you so very much! It absolutely did 💕. Cheering you on!!
[re: what I dreaded came upon me] Job became like the senseless nameless brood that he tried to place a protective covering around
(see chapters 29,30,31)
The finished work of the Cross of Christ is the POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away ~ Blessed be the name of the Lord
Where was I when the Lord gave? - and where will I be when the Lord takes away?
- surely I'll be in the same place
Perhaps it's not the meaning of life that is so important but rather the life of meaning?
Neverthemore and nevertheless, it seems clear that the presence of life seems to be not only the all in all but life in all
And if God is life, and there is death in life, then there is life in death.
Yes, Yes!! Story of Job points us to Jesus! 😍 Job, a Jesus Type! ❤️ ✝️
I love this and your explaining is amazing. Thank you thank you for sharing!! The book of Job in the Bible is my favorite story. It always makes me so thankful for everything and hopeful despite bad things going on. I red Job in a hard time in my life and I am greatful that I came across this book.

For a breakthrough understanding of the Book of Job, see the novel "Where Do We Go Now, LORD? - Burke." Excellent work.
God's grace is wonderful and sweat
This was amazing. Definitely subscribing! Definitely will share
Powerful! Thank you
Beautiful exposition
Another fantastic video! You're doing a great job!
This channel is a blessing
Amen 'Saviat Ysar' 🧡
The book of Job was how I came to salvation during a time where I too, was losing it all.
This is so beautifully done!!!!

Amen! In our suffering God is doing something
There was not any audio on my phone. I did have speakers turned up and mute off. I’ll try again on my tablet.
Wow amazing. God is amazing!
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do :(
Just stay by her side. I could've written her story but I have no one and it's hard.
Two thumbs up
This is powerful.
Excellent video. I love it.
Thanks for the video. I would also recommend watching InspiringPhilosophies perspective on the story of Job, its very unique and makes a lot of sense too
Ugh. Brilliant. Subscribing. Thank you for this!
I love these videos !!
This helped me so much. Thank you.
Beautifully done!!!
Ecclesiastes 7:13-15
Easy-to-Read Version
13 Look at what God has made. You cannot change a thing, even if you think it is wrong. 14 When life is good, enjoy it. But when life is hard, remember that God gives us good times and hard times. And no one knows what will happen in the future.
People Cannot Really Be Good
15 In my short life, I have seen everything. I have seen good people die young, and I have seen evil people live long lives.
Wow...this is so powerful.
