Legend has it that Plagueis was actually a good guy chilling in his cave but when he discovered that he appeared in The Acolyte, he went mad, fell to the Dark Side and became The Dark Lord of the Sith. Poor guy.

He also made a fortune out of mining the Cortosis in that cave with nothing but a hammer and a chisel. Controlling the only source and limiting the supply, he made enough to wage war on the Galaxy to stop the horror of the Thread from taking over. In the end, he was just misunderstood.

“Those toxic fans are to blame!”
These people are insane. They got the foot in the door demanding tolerance, then they demanded compliance, now they want obedience.
And shows the world Amandla doesn’t know how to sing. And absolutely doesn’t know how to dance. Even if her singing was good, which it was not, the dancing was enough to humiliate any kids and grandkids she may one day have. Rage twerking is never the answer. Never.
They want tolerance and control over people that don't even care enough to watch their shows and people who might watch them out of curiosity are immediately turned off because of how political the product and its creators have become
You hit the nail on the head - they're literally INSANE.
Nothing they do makes sense and it never will, because they aren't using logic or facts or basing things on reality.
They live in a fantasy they've crafted, usually spending most of their lives online.
They're literally crazy, it's a waste of time to even try to understand why they act they do lol

Acolyte fans get insanely mad and put the blame on us, I guess acolyte truly is the darkside
All 10 of them?
They let the hate flow through them.
Don’t forget tho according to acolyte fans the dark side isn’t “bad” its a matter of “perspective”

They tried to say the girl killing her guardian was justified. Yeah, Id say their morals are skewed.
I love how they’re calling us racists when a lot of us were actually excited to see Finn’s potential when the Force Awakens was announced. We liked him because of the possibility of seeing an ex-stormtrooper become a Jedi! And then they just curb-stomped it all away when they suddenly said, “Sike, it’s Rey, btw.” It still sucks to think about what we could have had.
White women trump black men in that sphere of politics.
YES! I was soooo excited about him. Then they just made a modern remake of a New Hope but made it way wayyyy shittier. We don’t care about race. We don’t care about sexuality. We want a good story anddddd that’s it.

A few years ago, Elizabeth Banks remade Charlie's Angels and said that she wasn't making the movie for men and didn't care if men liked it or not, then proceeded to blame men for not going to see it. That seems to have started a trend. I don't remember exactly who it was, but I remember someone affiliated with The Acolyte saying that they wanted to make white men uncomfortable, so we didn't watch it. I'm a pretty simple guy, if you say you don't want my business, cool. It doesn't make mad, I just go elsewhere. But they seem to get mad when we take our business with us. Either you want my business, or you don't. But you can't shame me into giving you my business.
Wasn't there a gay romantic comedy a few years ago, and the lead actor complained that straight people didn't go see it?
Like, who was the audience? Straight men (you know, the majority of men) aren't usually interested too much in romantic comedies anyway, but we especially won't be interested in gay romantic comedies. And I can't see women being too interested in watching a romantic comedy in which there is no female love interest with whom they can identify.

I’m black and not a Star Wars fan but to act like everyone is racist or sexist for criticizing the Acolyte or not watching it is just so stupid. First of all, audiences aren’t obligated to consume the product. Two, criticism and hate doesn’t get a show cancelled, just look at Velma. Apathy and losing money kills a show. The hate probably boosted rating since it made a lot of people want to see how trash it was. Three, they kept antagonizing and alienating fans by saying things like the fanbase is misogynistic, Star Wars is patriarchal and problematic for not having much female characters, and that their goal was to make white people mad. The director, actresses, and Disney shills who say that stuff can’t get pissy when the fanbase in return refuses to give the show a chance and choose hate on it.
Its like saying fans are sexist for attacking Brie Larson and She Hulk after they kept attacking and taking jabs at men and calling people anti Semitic for making jokes about Sarah Silverman and Seth Rogen being Jewish in response to them mocking Christmas. These people chose to hit out at groups. They can’t cry bigotry when those groups hit back.
Also not surprising that Rolling Stones yet again put out another stupid, false, and out of touch article. When Chris Tyson from mrbeast got fired for being a predator who had inappropriate relationships with minors, for running a nsfw discord server with minors in it, for sharing revenge “pron” with his fans, and for being friends with an artist who made “cheese pizza” of little girls in real life, rolling stone claimed he stepped down due to “transphobic” attacks.
My dude, or dudette, you are spot on! Thank you for speaking to what I've felt and said for the last several years with disney
I’m white so I’m a little reluctant to talk about racial issues, but wouldn’t accusing people of racism when they’re not actually racist just set the entire racial conversation back? I can’t pretend to have personal experience with it, but it seems to me that would be taking attention away from actual racists, and just devaluing the entire conversation. Like the boy who cried wolf. If you keep saying there’s a wolf when there actually isn’t one, no one’s gonna believe you when there really is a wolf.
I’m not sure I’m making my point as clearly as I’d like to, but basically what I’m saying is do you think that the accusations of racism and sexism are actually counter productive, and instead of helping to solve the problem which these people claim to want to do, they’re actually contributing to the problem by cheapening the conversation?
I mean, there is TOXIC FANDOM, no doubt.
The problem is that this show was TERRIBLY WRITTEN to begin with so from the incredibly INTELLECTUALLY LAZY PERSPECTIVE of someone that “LIKED” this show, the “toxic fandom” and the people who had legitimate gripes with it become ONE AND THE SAME.
@erikdayne5429 they are definitely counter productive. We live in 21st century America. We have had over 60 yrs to put the visions of MLK and Ghandi into practice. The meaningful presence of racists and phobes and misogynists is next to zero at this point and time in the western world.
Also. Being white doesn't mean you shouldn't feel comfortable having an opinion on race. The idea that being white makes your view less valid is rooted in anti-white racist narratives. Everyone has a valid and valuable perspective and black people, and any other minority demographic, is just as capable of being racist and phobic as the majority demographic.
I was raised in the south of the US. I met more racists who weren't white then were, that's not to say that there are more non-white racists than white, but where I grew up, it seemed to be more common. The only women I ever loved were black women, I'm white, they would regularly talk about how sick they were of the black men being racist towards us cuz I'm white and she'd be happier with a black man. The girls would often tell me of how racist their own people could be and would even say that they didn't like dating men from their own demographic because of that.
Again, I'm not trying to generalize, but making a specific point about bow every group cam have equally awful minorities, but in the end they don't matter and the people who do matter are the ones who aren't afraid to speak up in public in good faith.
So sorry for the massive comment 😅

I have been a Star Wars fan since 1977. I was a 9 year old kid who fell in love when my parents took me to see the movie premiere in May 1977 for my birthday. I am Black and I am sickened by people who try inject that racism had anything to do with how poorly this show was poorly written. I am from a generation where you can’t try to shame me for disliking your product. I tried watching the acolyte but it was unwatchable after a few episodes. Bottom line is the show was horrendous and Disney pulled the plug as it should have done.
Ah so so true and I'm glad I grew up back then too ✌
Thank you sir! I was also a fan from my first viewing in 1977. I bought EVERY toy, every view master, every single figure, every single book, ANYTHING. in Alabama, we were marginalized. I seriously had 2-3 close friends who LOVED the movie. The rest, at least in my town, looked down on it, and we suffered physically and mentally from the “non nerds?” From that time. I’m tired of the “new” generation of people saying MY view is not worth anything and I’m racist. I tried to watch the AColyte. I love Star Wars, and I think ANy Star Wars is “good”, but, this one was unwatchable. I’m a tolerant person, it’s just that the show was written poorly, the acting was mostly bad, and it just didn’t make sense in the Universe George Lucas set up. We would’ve been buds in 1977, @ronbeez58!
I was born in 1981 and I have been a SW fan for all of my life. I can't forget the first impression I had when I saw an X-Wing toy when I was 3 years old.
While we all the original fans live, there will be hope that Star Wars will return as great as it was.
I was 12 in '77. My mom took me to a matinee to catch it for the first time. I almost cried when it was over because I didn't want it to end!
I was in high school when the OT was re-released in theaters, which also happened to be the time I discovered LucasArts games for my brand new 486 (X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Dark Forces). I also read most of the EU novels. I _love_ Star Wars (see my profile).
Diversity is woven into the fabric of the story. The Empire dislikes "aliens". The Rebel Alliance is led by two capable, charismatic women (Mon Mothma and Leiah) and staffed by dozens of different species. A black man leads the squadron that blows up the second Death Star, dealing the Empire's fate.
I watched, and hated, the ST. I watched, loved, and then hated what The Mandalorian devolved into. I watched, and hated what they did to Boba Fett. 3 strikes and Disney was out. I haven't watched Ashoka or Acolyte.
The idea recent Disney-produced SW content fails is because it's "too diverse" is lazy, asinine and offensive. It's because it _sucks_. It's flaming garbage. Worse, it's desroying the thing its based on.
If there are so many fans that care about the Acolyte, why didn't they watch it?
Gotta love the fake news technique of smearing someone, then saying, "he didn't respond to requests for comment." While not actually contacting the person, or doing so in such close proximity to the article being published, it doesn't matter.
Or when they say " They did not IMMEDIATELY respond to our request" so maybe a response was given just not immediately, like everything should be dropped to respond in a time frame where they feel important.
Just like what they are doing to the Tates and Candace. I lost respect for Rolling Stone many years ago, just like The Guardian full of lies and misinformation

Same people who’ve pointed their fingers claiming hardcore fans are toxic for being upset for terrible shows, stories or writing. Hypocrisy at its finest.
You know what killed my interest for The Acolyte? It was The Last Jedi, Rise of Palpatine, Mando Season 03, Book of Boba Fett, Kenobi.... All of these horrible choices has caused me to be apathetic towards anything Star Wars under the Disney label. My beloved franchise is dead to me and can only rise again once Disney sells the IP.

I resonate with what you said a lot. Acolyte is terrible but would be slightly more watchable if they hadn’t put me through all these other bs shows first, the bar is so low
Kenobi wasn’t horrible it was meh I can’t remember it but it was meh at best
And remember the zombies, the witches, the kung fu, Leia Popins, Emo Princess Kylo, the pansexual robot lovers, the non-killing lightsabers, the pitfall-proof characters , the "somehow he came back" villains, the "I can make it better than you" Rey demigodess... And the list can go on and on.
It's just so much BS in astronomic size that I don't know why I should care about Disney SW anymore.
The Last Jedi definitely killed it for me. You have Mary Poppins with Leia. Then you written Luke as angry old man. And lastly you killed Snoke who I thought was an interesting character.
Personal take: I feel like there aren’t many genuine racists in the Star Wars fandom period. Like I’ve never met a racist nerd, or geek. I know I’m using a stereotype here, but Star Wars is filled with aliens and wizards. Just doesn’t seem like a racists utopia to me.
13:55 The John Boyega bit especially pisses me off because it horrifically misrepresents the points he was making and why the experience of getting to be in Star Wars didn’t turn out well for him despite the fact that he was and is a massive fan of Star Wars and getting the role as Finn should have been his wildest dream come true. I’ve seen the articles and testimonies they’re referencing, and what Boyega said wasn’t anything to do with fan backlash. It had to do with the treatment he received from Disney and people like Rian Johnson where he felt sidelined and like he was unimportant, a feeling echoed by Mark Hamill. Most importantly, though, Boyega explicitly called them out for treating him like a token actor and making him feel as though his character only existed so they could have the appearance of diversity. He made no mention of fan backlash or any sort of external reason for them sidelining him in, say, The Last Jedi. Instead, he primarily placed the blame on stuff like the lack of a cohesive vision between the writers that led to him being an afterthought and on Lucasfilm higher-ups or writers seeing Finn as just being the token black dude instead of an actual character.
I liked him in the first Disney sequel. Felt like there was an interesting story to tell. The storm trooper who got away. Then he WAS sidelined and turned into a bit player. It's too bad. His story would have probably been more interesting than Rey's story which we'd already see in the originals. "Storm trooper turned Jedi.
He was the token black.
Trust me, among the community there is no talk about the diversity or lack there of in Star Wars 😅😅. We have other major issues in our community that need attention.
@@quademasters249 exactly. He recalled The Force Awakens as a very positive experience overall, but that following that, Rian Johnson shoved him out of the story and put him on the sidelines so that Rian could do his own thing instead of pursuing the threads set up by TFA. He also rather accurately described Rise of Skywalker as them calling in JJ to try and clean up the mess made by TLJ (not that I think that JJ was particularly astounding, but he certainly had a vision and some appreciation for the universe he was being invited to pen a story in).
It seemed like everyone loved John Boyega and were pissed his character got ruined. That’s how I always felt. 🤷🏻♂️

Two competing ideas why this show was cancelled. One reason is those things you mentioned. Another is this the show was just bad and lost money. So, Occam's Razor. Which one is the simpler one? I'm going with this show was cancelled because it was just soooo bad.
The show was canceled because they chose to cancel it. It's not like we actually got to vote on it. It's not like we took people hostage and demanded it be canceled. If Disney really wanted to do another season they could have just done it. Don't blame me for hating your poorly written and poorly directed show.
@@John_Locke_108 exactly. And Disney didn't really have a choice in cancelling. The show had the lowest viewing figure of any Star Wars D+ show. It cost an enormous 180mill. I'm very sceptical they saw any return at all on that investment.

I truly think KK and Disney current team doesnt really think much of their customers and dont really understand movies. They think poeple will like anything that got some lasers and lightsabers in it, with some action and dramatic music. Thats why they dont think about the quality of the show being the reason, because in their minds poeple should like anything, so ofc there must be other reasons.
No, they don't and can't. Yes, they are extremely.
Remember when Firefly was cancelled and even though it had a very loyal fanbase it still was cancelled because it wasn't enough and NOBODY blamed politics or the diverse cast or toxic fans...?
I recall people simply saying that sucks and eventually enough people wrote in to get a film. Now no film should EVER be made for the acolyte but why can't the "fans" be normal like that?
Because that was far enough back in time for something like that to be possible and firefly was aired on cable format and different social/political climate as well.. but yeah I love firefly and serenity 🙌
Because it wasn't made for normal fans? I'm gonna go ahead and mark that answer correct.
Love how everyone's "blaming" the fans for the cancellation as if it wasn't equal parts the fault of the production and writing. And I guess the media are conveniently forgetting that Amandla put herself in a very compromising position after her crazy Instagram video as well.

I used to read it in the 80's. It was the first place I'd every read about "Aids". It was a completely new and mysterious disease at the time. The writing was good and the stories meaty. The internet helped kill off quality media.
Gahd damn she gotta big head
In what way do you mean?
People got used to "free" so the idea of spending money for magazines fell away. I stopped reading magazines 10 years ago. I could find the same if not better information online.
Same thing for newspapers. I used to read the paper. Now I get all my news for free. The writing isn't as good but it's good enough to be usable.
I'm not suggesting the internet is bad but, it brought change to print media. Change it probably can't survive. I used to read RS religiously. Before this story, I didn't even realize they still existed.
The worst thing for an entertainment product, is indifference. Doesn't matter if it's a toy, or video game, or in this case a show. Many people think the worst is when people hate a product, but fact is that when people hate a product then it tends to get talked about, sometimes paid for by curious people to see what it's about, and so on. When people are disinterested, then it doesn't get talked about, people don't get curious about it so they don't consume it, and it ends up as forgotten. Disney have been relying on that hate for a long time now, and it has kept growing. But that hate have been turning more and more into disinterest for more and more people, so the best they can do is to fan the flames if they can't make good entertainment anymore.

We should all sue for this.
That would be so funny. Let's get a rich person to fund this idea. Would that be a class action lawsuit against lucasfilm? Or Disney as a whole?
I'm in, and I have evidence to back my claim!
But as far I know, they've never actually said "fans are racist." The closest thing to that I can find, is an old Forbes article, (From a journalist who no longer works there, thank goodness) saying that while TLJ was mostly liked by the fans, there was a small vocal subset of the fandom that hated on it, "motivated by racism and sexism". Any such lawsuit would be unsuccessful, as technically, what constitutes racism and sexism is largely a matter of opinion. And furthermore, you would have to prove that there was some kind of negative effect on you, AND that they knew or suspected it would happen. So if there was an angry mob that harassed certain vocal fans personally, and Lucasfilm (Or any journalist website) still continued with their statements, with no condemnation of the mob's actions, there MIGHT be grounds for a lawsuit. But even then, a landmark case like this would probably reach the Supreme Court, who has a notorious conservative supermajority, who have a VERY broad definition of free speech and a much more relaxed stance on defamation than pretty much any other Supreme Court in our history. So even if there was a case, they'd be likely to overturn it if it ever reached them. Disney knows this, and if their lawyers somehow lost one case (They have the best lawyers ever so not likely) they would know to keep appealing until it reached them. So in other words, the possibility that a defamation class action lawsuit against any of these people is just about 0. Sorry for my sobering statement and long, nerdy rant 🤓

Disney seemed to think the Star Wars franchise would operate like an OS update for the fandom…all they had to do was write their social engineering plan into Star Wars and “release the update” and all the SW fans would watch and be reprogrammed into obedient and compliant followers of “the new belief system”.
The fandom has responded by quoting Emperor Palpatine…
”You will find that it is you who are mistaken, about a great many things.”
I remember GRRM acting all bewildered - "I thought SW fans were supposed to like SW !" he was being disingenious of course, he obviously knows how to tell good writing from bad, but his message was political, not artistic.

My god! When will these weirdos learn that people don't care if there are black, Asian, etc actors in TV shows or movies! Like I'm not even sure where this idea comes from. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s and some of the most popular shows were Cosby Show, A Different World, Jeffersons, Family Matters, Fresh Prince. Some of the most famous actors were Denzel, Will Smith, Sam Jackson, Halle Berry, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Antonio Banderas.. we've been doing diversity for decades now.. this isn't a new thing. Strong female characters have been in movies for decades too (Sarah Conner, Ripley, Kate Beckinsale, etc, etc.). What we care about it good writing, good story telling and not shoving agendas down our throats!
Where does it come from? Uncle Karl. When they failed dismally in the 20th century they pivoted to identity.

Listening to the fans would have been listening to the money. Were their paying customers. They’re listening to a small part of some “fans” that want this crap. Had the show been good and made for actual fans, this show would’ve been insanely profitable.
They listened to the deafening sound of no one watching
The fact that many recent "Star Wars" projects have received mixed or negative reviews, along with a decline in audience numbers, suggests that there is a disconnect between what is being produced and what a significant portion of the fandom wants to see. This type of feedback should be a wake-up call for the creators and executives at Disney, indicating that the current approach may not be aligned with audience expectations.
It’s possible that in trying to make "Star Wars" relevant for a new generation of viewers, the creators have lost some of what made the original franchise resonate so deeply with lifelong fans. As you mentioned, if the stories feel secondary or superficial compared to the messages being conveyed, this can alienate fans who are looking for a coherent and compelling narrative.
In the entertainment world, creative decisions that don’t resonate with the audience can lead to a decline in overall interest, and it’s important for creators to listen to and consider the constructive criticism from fans. After all, the long-term success of a franchise depends on its ability to keep its fan base engaged and satisfied.
If low ratings continue to be a trend, it’s a strong indication that the creators need to reevaluate their approach and find a balance that recaptures the essence of "Star Wars" while evolving with the times. So they need to realize that it wasn't the 'toxic' fans, but their own radical point of view.
Hugs from Spain (Europe)
"if the stories feel secondary or superficial compared to the messages being conveyed, this can alienate fans who are looking for a coherent and compelling narrative."
THIS!!!!
This is exactly what the problem has been from day one of the woke bullshit. When they promote these projects they spend 1% of their time discussing the characters and story then spend the other 99% virtue-signalling about the thing's pointless woke credentials. I can't believe that in the near decade we've been getting this shite rammed down our throats they haven't made the connection that doing that IMMEDIATELY makes the fans' expect a badly-made, badly-acted shit-show with a paper thin plot written by DEI hire hacks that's full of holes because it's what we've seen EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY HAVE DONE THAT UP TO THIS POINT.
Only actual, real, bona-fide racists/sexists would have a problem with more poc or female characters, the rest of us don't care as long as they organically feature in a story that is well written and the thing put on screen with a degree of competency. We all loved Lando and Leia, or Mace Windu and Padme, because they were good characters well-acted in a story that made sense, but since Disney bought Star Wars that has gone completely out of the window with the exception of Rogue One and Andor. Disney (and the rest of the media) need to go back to focussing on hiring people of TALENT regardless of what colour their skin is or what shape their junk is instead of these utterly talentless DEI clowns that couldn't write a coherent list of things they need from the store even when it's only bread and milk!
That'd be artisanal bread and soya milk, of course...
The schools producing these people and the current hivemind rotting most of Hollywood have thoroughly deluded all "creatives" given a shot that whatever they create deserves praise.
The past mindest of fine-tuning ones idea to garner mass appeal, and with that success and profit, is all but dead. They have the indie creator mentality-the ones who care more about art than profitability. (There's nothing wrong with that if they dont expect mainstream success as a given.) They think creators being male and being whte is the only reason for their success. Not that these people actually gave their all to make sure the wider audience loved their work by catering to them.
Just look at the Borderlands fiasco. The director behind that, like the others believing this nonsense, whined that it was hard to make a movie so that effort (regardless of outcome) should be repaid with by views (money) and adoration. This idea is so pervasive that Chris Stuckmann even fell for it despite knowing better.
They are lost. They either have no grasp of basic business in any service based industry or refuse to understand out of hubris. No amount of explanation will work on people this fargone. They hate the audience but still think the people they despise should support them.
@@sianais Agree, there were things in the Acolyte that were so poorly written and thought out, that I'm surprised they made it through editing. Someone should have taken Lesley aside and said something to her. Instead it seems like everything was given a pass. The creators need to take responsibility for their own mistakes.
I found it hilarious that US media criticizes fans for not liking a shit show. It's amazing how politics shapes their opinions instead of focusing in the real problem: poor writing and putting people in charge -Leslye Headland- that don't understand SW at all, she literally created a generic story about diversity around Star Wars universe. The main plot (and good writing, can't emphasize this enough!!) wasn't important, for her 'the message' was the only thing that mattered.
Glad in my country I don't have to suffer this kind of media harassment in the name of 'diversity and good intentions'.
What gets me is that these people don't even realize how far from the top the Acolyte was. It never even got into the Top 10 Overall, and in the Top 10 Originals it paled in comparison to the big hitters of the season like House of the Dragon, The Boys, even Bridgerton! The thing I don't understand is that if one has a $180M budget, the logic is to select the best possible writer for the show - a writer, that knows Star Wars inside and out and can justify their storyline in just few select words - no matter what their gender or race is (that does not matter at all). And then have a producer who also understands Star Wars inside and out and can give the OK stamp for the project. But it seems they went the complete opposite route with "hey let's see what they can do with this, I sure hope they know what they're doing" ???
I will never forget watching extras from The Hobbit The Battle of The Five Armies Blu Ray where Peter Jackson and the creq talked how it didn't turn out how they hoped for and explaining where it went wrong.
Why I'm saying that?? Well because Peter Jackson is not too proud to admit his faillure, even it's not terrible movie, it's not masterpiece as LOTR Trilogy, and that's why I trust Peter Jackson, that man admits he did something wrong and that's why he has most of people's trust, and that's someting Kathleen Kennedy will never have, people's trust, because she will never admit faillure and instead she will keep blaming fans calling them names using black and female leads as a shield from terrible stories.Let's not forget that se never officially said Rian Johnson's trilogy is not happening, same as Patty Jenkins movie, same as D&D trilogy or Taika Waititi movie, she still pretends it's happening until people forget they were announced.
And that's why she will never have our trust!
A good storyteller will see why their story didn't do well and do what they can to fix the story. A bad storyteller will see why their story didn't do well and blame it on everyone else.
