Fix the error code 11 in Rheem Water Heater.
The part can be found on Rheem Parts website, supply house.com, homedepot.com
With the parts shortage online, we ended up taking the igniter coil from a replaced unit in our neighborhood.
Error code 11 started flashing last night..I always go to RUclips first for everything that’s broke to see if it’s fixable at my level. Looks like I’ll be buying a $22 part and DYI! Thanks for such a helpful video
Great video. My plumber wanted to run hundreds of dollars of "tests" to diagnose my Rheem tankless. I said no thanks and ordered the igniter coil replacement. This fixed it.
Lifesaver!! 🎉 thank you for this video! A plumber came out and looked at my water heater for 2 minutes (turned a valve on and off was his assessment) - then proceeded to tell us we needed a new unit and he could sell us one and install it for $2,500. Didn’t sit well with me! Called the manufacturer and they said for my issue it was usually the igniter coil and parts were still covered under warranty so they shipped one to me for free. Found this video and installed it myself in 5 minutes. Hot water is back!! Saved me SOOOO much money. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! 🤗
This is the EXACT problem I was having and I had no clue where the ignitor was even located. Other sites tell you to check it, but not how to check it or even where to find it. Great video. Thanks for posting it.
Thank you so much! I’m a good handyman, but knew nothing about the workings of a tankless water heater. Your video convinced me I could avoid a $625 plumbing labor charge and do the job myself. Everything worked perfectly!
Just did this exact repair and thank you!!!!! Saved hundreds of dollars for a $28 part. Took 5 mins or less to change the part out. Awesome.
Thank you! Spot on, picked up the part from a local plumbing supply company, installed in less than 20-min, hot water is restored. Great video, you have a new follower.
My igniter failed after 2 years of service. I recently replaced my tankless heater after the winter storm in Texas.
This was a great video! I swapped it out in about 5 minutes…..the instructions were spot on. Thanks!
Thanks! You saved me over a $1,000 as no one wanted to fix it, they all said they only replace the whole unit. I had a hard time finding the part but it was an easy fast fix once I did, thanks to your video!
I really dont like guys ripping off homeowners and just wanting to make a small job big.... but uts karma as well , no one recommends abusive service providers , they loose the lead and the future of their business....
Thank you... I fixed it exactly as your video shows and saved a minimum of $300+... and have HOT water today instead of 1-3 days later... God Bless You... Austin, TX
This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).
prasad. can't thank you enough!!! this was exactly my problem. $30 later, part got here next day from amazon, ITS FIXED. so easy and its all because of you and your video. I was dreading all the things a plumber would say and charge for such a simple fix. thanks again!!
This was spot on! Thank you so much Prasad for sharing your experience. Your video was straight to the point. I bought the part of Amazon yesterday (paid more but got it today, and bought one from Rheem as a spare for $22). I appreciate you!
Sir, thank you for this valuable video. I followed your instructions, ordered the part for $23, paid $16 for next day shipping and we’re now back in business. Literally took less than 5 minutes to replace the part and fire it back up. So thank you again for sharing your insights and saving me time and money!
Thank you so much. Your video was clear and easy to follow. It saved us a service call and much more. This was our problem, so happy to have hot water again!
This is an excellent video! You showed the same errors and sounds I am experiencing. Everything is explained very clearly. I just ordered my part and I am confident that I can change this myself. Verygood video. thank you!
Thanks. Changing the igniter fixed my problem. You even mentioned Supply House in the video so I knew where to buy the part.
Thank you! I followed your instruction and fixed my tankless.
Thanks! Your video helped be fix our issue and replace the ignitor coil. Thanks for listing model #s and parts #s too.
Thank you for a thorough explanation and walkthrough!
Thank you Prasad! I watched your video and ordered the part, $20 bucks later I had the issue resolved in 10 minutes!
Great video I just followed this step by step and it worked. No more cold showers
Wanted to say thanks! This was exactly the issue I had. I was able to fix it for $15.
Many plumbers want to sell a whole new unit. Faster and easier. Great video
It took longer to trip the breaker, get a screwdriver, remove and replace the front panel and put my tools away than to replace the part. Super easy! Thanks! I suggest you replace both the igniter and the coil. Parts are so cheap, why not? Wife says I'm now a DIY plumbing hero. :-)
Thanks man got my problem fixed for only 25$
Thank you very much for the video! I just had exactly same problem and the video is so helpful to fix the problem!
Victory ! Enjoying a super hot bath after messing with error code 11...
My unit is very gas pressure sensitive (nearly 10 year old unit).
I use an adjustable gas pressure regulator with gauge. It has a very small window to run happy (barely reading just under 1psi). Anything under or over it won't stay lit & errors out.
I loosen the gas bleed screw under the unit till it drops pressure. You can hear the gas hissing so I know it has supply.
Screw it back in & find the sweet spot, a Very low pressure.
This time I needed to unplug power cord & the ignition system two wires, wait a 10 min. Plus it all back in an boom = Fire !
That was great thanks, That is probably the most wrong space for that outlet though.
Worked perfectly. Thank you
This was a great video. Simple and easy to follow. Appreciate you!
Thank you so much!
you the mannnn, saved me money and fix it my selfffff
Thank you!!! This video is a huge win
this is so helping thank you superb
Very nice in staten island plumber was two trip one to tell you error, then wait for parts come, then he will come install another trip +installation +part cost minimum $350 and I did it in by parts only $30.00
You da man. Excellent video, thank you!
This worked perfectly for me - thank you!!!
Great video, Thank you. The outlet cord problem can be solved with a 90 Degree cord end, and marking the outlet box with panel and breaker Number also helps for home owners or next tech to easily ID the Circuit... ; )
We’ll done bhai sab. Exactly what I needed.
Thanks for posting!
Fixed mine just right now with about $25 dollars.
Spot on thank you
Also, check to make sure your intake vent on the outside of your house is not blocked. No air, no flame...
Where is the intake vent at?
I could save $400 if I watch your video before I call a plumber as the customer service suggested.
Thank you sir!
Thanks!
excellent
Do you happen to know about model number RMTG-74PVN-1? Error code 11. Found ignition part, but it seems the black wire goes to the back. Not sure if I can disconnect it that way or pull that apart?
Good video, but I found out what was wrong with my Rannai code 11 and why the coil and unit always turned off. The electrical unit was wired to my dryer and it was getting to much voltage onto it. The professional checked his electric meter and all 4 lights where on when it should have been 2 lights. Hope this helps someone with the same issue as mine.
Thanks for sharing it. Yes. It should be on its own breaker.
Had the same problem on my rinnai after replacing the heat exchanger, all I had to do is unplug the harness to the igniter and plug it back then it worked.
I think moisture or a little water gets on the connections
Glad it worked out. Another possibility is dirt or dust build up around electrodes (flame as well as ignitor)
You’re lucky, my rods were singed to a nub.
Any idea how to remove the electrode? The little white piece with the hook that you attached the adapter to
I have a Richmond tankless water heater M#(RMTG70DVLN-1) do they share the same parts because I can’t find the Igniter Coil for mine online?
I have a riddle for you. My issue was the same as in your video. I changed the igniter coil but still having the same issue. The unit was working fine until my LP gas man changed the tanks. Could that have something to do with my error 11v
Just saw video days ago went and purchase igniter replaced and the symptoms are the same don't know what to do now
same here......did you figure it out?
@johngregory3342 need to clean rods I did it with a low grit sandpaper and system working fine
Hi So I cleaned the rod but still no luck...got error 11 again. I did notice a little red blinking light on the lower part of the panel. Does that mean something?
appears mine is broke right out of the box. getting 120vac in but no heat on the probe.
Good morning.. my fan isnt come on do that mean I'm not getting no water flow
Very good video. I'm dealing with that issue now. Is this a common issue with these water heaters? Because of the availability of the igniter, do you suggest keeping a spare? Thank you
I changed my igniter coil and now I get code 13. Any Idea what could be the issue here?
I changed that, and now the controller doesn't power on. Any suggestions?
I can clearly see my igniter is firing every time. But I'm still getting code 11. Any ideas?
You only need to turn the power off, not the water supply or drain the unit. Turn off the gas to be safe is OK, but again, not necessary.
i have a rheem 18 and i have 3 ignitions, whats the go
Having the same issue on a brand new unit in brand new home
I just don’t know how he determined that’s what it was. He mentioned about the gas and checking your stove etc but what told him the coil pack was what was the issue.
I am in Dallas, can you help me?
How about a rtg74ns2 direct vent ?
Check the regulator first everybody
Damn, replaced mine and it didn't fix the problem.
code error 113and 112 on rheem tankless hot water heater
I've been trolling YT the past 24 hours, "In Search Of" (Leonard Nimoy) error code 11s. Here we go. Error Code 11 on NRC111DV 199 BTU. You're never going to guess what the problem was! Got a call from the tenant (this is a rental). Was proactive and ordered Ignitor and Ignition Plug. Turns out, the next-door neighbor moved out. Gas company showed up and turned off the gas meter to my house (no notice), not the house they were supposed to (neighbor). 24 hours later, multiple troubleshooting, cuss words, discovered the root problem. Point being, check the not-so-obvious things first. Damn it. Do I want to mess with small claims court? Maybe, maybe.
Or your gas services have been cut off... Pay your gas bill or you'll get an 11 error...🤪😉
another Indian plumber
dond dell me whad do do
You went strait to changing parts. This video make you look good but no diagnostic info. You have no clue to what created the problem. Show Boat!!!!!!
