People will respond with “omg suddenly everyone is a vet” or “🤡🤡🤡” like stop, I’m sorry I’m trying to give an animal a better life after watching it suffer in a tiktok. 😒

Those comments annoy me so much. Those are probably the same people that probably use tiny trails cages for their hamsters.
Also a lot of the children say “well what if they don’t have money for a bigger cage” well 1) don’t get an animal if you can’t care for it properly, it’s like keeping a human in a closet for its whole life. You wouldn’t adopt a child and mistreat it like that. 2) bins at walmart are like $10 for the minimum new size
The whole "I can't afford it" argument drives me nuts. Large bin cages are cheaper than the tiny $60 cages most people start off with

@@frozenvoltage8919 if you can't afford to pay for even the cheapest supplies, you shouldn't get a hamster. there are ways to be frugal, but you shouldn't bring an animal into your home unless you can care for it. of course circumstances change, but you shouldn't go into hamster ownership if you can't care for the pet

I bought an aquarium tank for when I got my hamster and my parents were so confused. They said I should just buy a cage. Once they saw how happy my hamster was in her tank they understood.

Do:
•Research before purchasing any animal
•House your new companion in an adequately sized enclosure with plenty of room
•Keep the new animal safe from other animals
•Feed them a balanced diet, saving treats for special occasions (birthdays and holidays)
•If the new addition is a social being purchase a friend of the same species and introduce the two in a safe, neutral and calm environment
Don’t:
•If the animal is a solitary being don’t keep them in an enclosure with other animals of any kind
•Purchase an animal that you know nothing about
•Mistreat your the new addition to your family in any way
•House them in an enclosure that’s far too small
•Put them in danger by neglecting them or by purposefully exposing them to reckless situations
Also, don’t gather your information from the workers from pet stores. I’ve heard improper advice MORE than useful advice in regards to animal care (mostly for animals like fish and rodents that often end up accidentally neglected).
I can’t wait till I move into my own house and I can have a separate room for my small pets and I actually take care of them, (because surviving doesn’t always mean living happily) and I feel like people really don’t understand that and stuff them in tiny cages :((
Same here, I'm going to do that. I can't take my dad not letting me get a bigger cage for my hamster, and I really just need to give them the room that they need. Until then, I'll do my best to stop my dad from getting us more hamsters, or try to educate him (which by the way has failed five times already)

When I went to go adopt my first hamster in the back of petsmart, the hamster lived such a horrible enviornment. But one of the people who worked there proceeded to say that he has 20 ears of experience with hamsters. There Shouldn’t Be A “Water Container” In Your Hamsters Cage. While Yes, You Should *_Always_* Provide Your Hamster With A Water Bowl, It Shouldn’t Be Big Enough For Your Hamster -Whatever The Species- To Climb In. (No Hate Intended- Sorry If I Came Off As Rude, Working On That.)
I feel bad for those poor innocent hamsters that are getting mistreated. 😭 this is why I did a lot of research before I got a hamster and was how I ended up subscribed to your channel. I used to have a classroom pet in kindergarten. It was a hamster, he would be kicked around when in his ball. Me being 5, I surprisingly knew that balls were unsafe. The teacher didn't listen. He died 2 or 3 weeks later😭. He also lived in a like 150 sq inch tank😬

Oh my god, this reminded me of one of my teachers who took terrible care of her guinea pig. Her cage was one of those awful pet store cages, she got a hampster sized water bottle which the teacher never washed and would only fill up about once a day even though she needed more water than that, she didn’t have a friend and was solitary, she was given only pellets, and the list goes on. She did just about everything wrong and then developed an allergic reaction to the guinea pig, which she then gave to me. We immediately gave her a giant cage with a good diet and enough water, and did all we could to give her a good life. We tried to pair her with another guinea pig, but she ended up just fighting with the other pigs we tried to pair her with since she gone for so long without a friend that she had become solitary, which really sucks. So after I adopt the guinea pig my teacher took horrible care of, she gets a hamster and takes horrible care of him and gets mad that he sleeps all day (he was nocturnal like wtf do you expect) She obviously got both of them impulsively and didn’t do her research. One of my close friends ended up adopting the hamster since the teacher was going to give him away as a “class prize” for whoever got the best grade on a test. She also hated kids, and we really never knew why she got a job as a teacher. Please, never do what she did to any animal, they deserve love and care. 💕
@@mocha1759 Giving class pets as prizes is really wrong and the teacher needs it's research. At least the Guinea pig came with you and is living a better life. In 6th grade tho, we learned everything we coulf about gekcos and got one in the class, we then at the end of the year someone who had all the proper things took him home.

I work in a pet store and so many hamsters have accidentally spazzed out of our hands and dropped either on counters or on the floors. It's not because of us but because the hamster freaked out 😅 those hamsters are invinsable I swear.. like I checked over them just to insure they are perfectly fine!and they are no worries!

You know what I hate? CLASSROOM PETS! They’re not well treated and I’ve heard so many stories of animals dying 🥺
If properly taken care of i think classroom pet can be a good idea. Teach kids some stuff about animals and let them care for it without actually making them them keep it themselves. Takes a responsible teacher to help kids understand that animals deserve respect and a good home.
My teacher had pet rats and genuinely cared about them. They had a super small cage, but at least in my third grade mind they seemed happy.

You do not even have to fork out loads of money them as long as you treat them correctly and do your research. I have a 25 dollar bin cage which is much cheaper than some hamster caged its over 600 sq feet and inside my hamster has many play items with about 5 inches of bedding and the correct wheel. In this house we love proper hamster care

The first video that I got, when I searched for #hamster on TikTok, was a video by someone who had put a rat and hamster in the same cages. The hamster in that video is so scared. Poor thing probably thinks they will die. They are screaming and are frightened. It was horrible and it's still there.

I’m so glad I did the research before getting my hammy. Seeing people be this cruel and making mistakes that could’ve easily been prevented with proper research is so disappointing and sad. I feel like a proud safe hamster parent🙏😭

My first hamster was a syrian, and when she was at the store she was together with a other hamster, and my mom thought it was sad to separate them, so she bought them both for me. And they got older. So one day i came back from school and i was going to check on them, and then i saw one dead..and not only dead, it was all bloody and well..she didnt had any of her paws anymore..and i never felt SO guilty in my life. I was like, 10 or something so i didnt knew much about hamsters, i only knew that they needed big cages and i had a different kind of menu for them everyday but i didnt knew that hamsters couldnt be together. I still feel guily and it has been 7 years..She has a nice and beautiful spot in my garden where she is burried, and in en selfmade box and with her favorite toy. The other hamster, the murderer, hadnt got really a name more like nicknames and stuff so i decided to call him Charles. Because of Charles Manson.
So, if you have 2 syrians in the same cage, get them away from eachother otherwise you will feel the same guilt as i do and the same story to tell. And i really miss her because the hamster that i have now, is called Chickie, and she is a real biatch. She bites me, and the other day she is really sweet and is into cuddleling. She is only a angel when she gets her special menu🥺

People are really complaining that we are correcting people in the tiktok comments and they’re like “everyone just keeps finding things to complain about” but if they were a good hamster owner we wouldn’t find things to complain about. Like no one is a perfect owner but these things are common sense that people would know if they had done research. I don’t even have a hamster and I know a lot about hamster care!

I had two Syrians when I was a kid because a pet store told me it was okay. It absolutely was not. One of them did snap and without going into further detail, it was obviously bad.
Now I’m 28 and just got a hamster again for the first time because I know better. Any time I’m interested in an animal, I watch videos by people like you and then decide if I can give it that type of care or not. I think everyone should do this and have the discipline and compassion to walk away if they aren’t willing to give the best possible care despite how cute and fun it looks to have.
