I can't believe some people on Tiktok are doing what they're doing! They are abusing their hamsters amd making it seem like it is alright. This is also showing that other people can do this and maybe they will because they saw that. But thankfully we have amazing youtubers like you Victoria who share and educate people and about hamster care!
I love when people say "hamsters are small, they can be in small cages" Does that mean that if you can fit inside of one room you can just live there for the rest of your life :)))
Kaskado and hamsters NEED a bigger house and also want one too if you have a hamster and he’s in a small cage he’s gonna get board and it could make him unhealthy

Topsy4 well people just complain saying that tik tok vets spread fake information and to leave the owner alone, because apparently they find everything wrong with the cage ;-;
They say that because people are annoyed by tiktok vets because they talk to much and they should just smile and stroll or just say "watch Victoria RAchel" it's that easy
i plan to get one because my friend had one and i fell in love with hamsters even though satan jr. (yes that was his name) liked to bite, i wanted to buy one. i gotta clean first and research, but it's sad seeing people get ferrets, leopard geckos, or hamsters for tiktok :/ ferrets and reptiles are high maintenance same for hamsters
Somebody on tiktok: got a hamster for *clout* Stop! It’s not good that you get a hamster, ferret, mouse, meerkat etc. For a TIKTOK! If your getting a pet do research learn more about them and most importantly BE RESPONSIBLE AND CARE FOR THEM THERE NOT TOYS FOR CHILDREN IF YOUR GETTING ONE THEN CARE FOR IT PROPERLY DONT JUST GET ONE FOR CLOUT
@@bellaboo7665 EXACTLY! dont get a hamster because buying one without your parents knowing is a tReNd, buy a hamster because you want to give it a loving home..same with guinea pigs, ferrets, etc Jeez people
Human logic: - Hamsters are cute, so it also looks cute when they fight to death. - Let's put a nocturnal animal that's prone to stress in a hamster car thingy and let it run outside in a stressful environment in broad daylight. - It's okay to lock up a hamster in a tiny enclosure because it's small and I let it free roam during the day, when it's supposed to be sleeping, among bigger predator animals. - PUT A HAMSTER IN FREAKING WATER
I feel laws on hamster being sold should be changed pet stores hurt my heart and then just anyone can buy one I feel it should be more regulated and get people educated on hamsters.
I’m 17 and have gerbils so not hamsters, but same thing with pet stores. My boyfriend was with me when we got my babies and they actually ID’d him to make sure he was 18+ before we could get them. I think a lot more places need to do that
It honestly pisses me off. Time and time again I see people on TikTok treating hamsters like toys simply because they’re small. Nobody would treat a dog this way, and it would certainly not be seen as “funny”
Call me mean, call me dark, but I do laugh when kids cry for stupid reasons, but when it comes to an animal... I will jump off a cliff if it was a life or death situation between me and my cats. If I step on an animals tail, I will grab as many toys and treats and then shower them with love. Just me? Heh...
I love your videos so much. I appreciate how much you helped me and my hamster, he was living in the wrong cage and always escaped. I am so grateful now he’s happy and safe.
some people who get hamsters don’t even do research and it’s so sad. they don’t get cages large enough to provide proper care for their hamsters, they keep their hamsters in the same cage, and then they get mad when someone corrects them. their poor hamster is in pain because of them. if you can’t afford proper care, you shouldn’t have bought a hamster in the first place! i really hate these things of people.
I think lots of people trust the workers in pet stores sadly. I don't really judge them for that, you'd think they know at least something. The bigger problem is when they don't take advice given to them afterwards to upgrade(tho lots of people could work on their tone when advising. Not everyone means to mistreat their animal)
Sadly i was one of those people who got a small cage, it wasn't as small as like the critter trails or tiny tales. But it was like 360 square inches and i wanted to get a bigger cage but my mom wouldn't let me and my sister, we both have a hammy but there in separate cages. But we finally convinced our mom to get bigger cages! Now we have a 600+ square inch bin cage for our two sirans! They are still in seperate cages btw! And i love these cages soo much!
I bought a small cage for my hamster and he’s still living in it (I’m building him a new cage rn) but it’s ok to get a hamster with a small cage not knowing it’s bad if you are going to eventually change it soon
I'm so glad you give such good advice! The only reason my dad let me get a hamster is because I did research on them using mostly your videos and my hamster will have a happy healthy life thanks to you!
Yesterday at work (I work at walmart) this woman was buying hay and some other things that were specific to guinea pigs and one was a treat that was like seeds and stuff on a stick. I held them up before bagging them and said "we have a couple guinea pigs and they love these so much" and she's like "oh that's relieving. We're getting our first two guinea pigs in about a week" and honestly.... When she specified TWO guinea pigs i almost jumped for joy. I mentioned how seeds are debated a lot with being safe for guinea pigs and that some people worry that they'll choke on them if they bite off too big a chunk. We talked a bit more and bro, this woman did her research on guinea pigs and honestly that made my day so much better. I love when I ask people about their pets and it's obvious that they did their research. This woman, who all she did was do the basics for getting a new pet, made my day so much better yesterday.
I love that she was also getting all the supplies together and set up BEFORE getting her piggies! People get their supplies at the same time that they actually get the pet far too often!
About that “hAmStErS aRe So SmAlL sO tHeY dOnT nEeD a BiG cAgE” thing, babies are small..TELL ME IM WRONG babies are small that doesn’t mean we give them tiny tiny beds. Just because hamsters are small DOES NOT mean you should be taking care of them incorrectly. Some people really need to do their research
People do the same thing to me: my hamster lives in a 40 gallon breeder and people make fun of me all the time for having such a large home for him, because he’s “just a hamster, he’ll only live two years at most, and he is only little, he doesn’t need that much space”. It makes me mad, people try and make you feel guilty for having good care.
Yes! My friends say I spoil my hamster too much, but that's the point of having a pet. You get a pet to be your companion and to spoil them and give them the best life possible.
They only live around two years and why dont we give them the best two years right =))) i spoil my hamster so much , I literally give them a better life than mine
My friend used to own 3 hamsters first a male named winter then a female named brownie, and lastly a female named rose all Syrian, the down side was is she used critter trail cages for the first two, and then a leveled hamster cage I told her many of times about hamster care and she even told her parents. But against all of it her mom never improved anything because she believed hamsters didn’t need that because they were small. Every hamster she owned only lived for a month.
100%! If someone (and if multiple people especially) are giving you advice, look into what they're saying and work to improve or change what you're doing.
"The cage is big enough, he's so small" It's like putting a dog in a travell carrier for all his/her life, no one will do that, than why the people do it with hamsters? (Just because you're small doesn't mean that you have to live in a small space)
“Hamsters are really small, so they need a tiny cage” is like saying humans only need a bedroom the size of a single full bathroom. They don’t want 1-2 feet long running room and hardly any ability to burrow just like we wouldn’t want a bedroom where we can simply stretch our legs out.
There’s a video of a guy scruffing his hamster, and having a small wire cage and having the poor hamster crawling on the top and sides of the cage. His @ is saadiqhinton
"the hamster isnt big it doesnt need a big cage" that's like saying that your baby is tiny so until it gets older it needs to live in a dog crate for small dogs
I have been watching your videos from the beginning. I got my first hamster exactly 10 years ago and the first cage was...not ideal. Then I upgraded a year later after having him and watching your videos. Nowadays, I have had more than 16 hamsters altogether and I am so THANKFUL I found your channel. I had literally the same reactions as you watching those poor hamsters been treated like toys. I cannot stress this enough, hamsters are sensitive, vulnerable small creatures that are NOT TOYS. They need care, protection and love and correct living conditions. Thank you Victoria (or chocolate colours :D) for educating thousands of people. Much love.
on the tiktok where the Syrian Hamster's are literally attacking each other the comment section was outraged I saw it on my for you page and I told the lady to watch your channel or search it up where she can learn why they should not be put together, I'm sure she knew because you can clearly see "looks can be deceiving" and "she thought they were bonding" that is no excuse for that, hamsters may be small but they are a lot of work have lots of energy and need lots of attention, but people still treat Hamsters like this 😣 it breaks my heart to see this...
I think it's probably when they get several of the same comments and some are a little intense (I don't think you need to scream "DON'T DO THAT YOUR A BAD OWNER UPGRADE YOUR CAGE") so they become defensive.
There was another one I saw on tiktok of this awful girl throwing her hamster in water and going ‘ive been wondering..can hamsters swim’ and every single comment is telling her how awful it is but she hasnt taken down the video of apologised and it upsets me so much
These videos remind me of how I cared for my hamster when I was a child...I makes me feel so uneasy. I want to bring my childhood hamster back and give him everything he should have had 🥺🥺🥺
Hey girl I’ve been watching your videos since I’ve been wanting a hamster, your videos have taught me good caring for hamsters and I’ve been asking my parents if I could get one and they said maybe for Christmas so I’m super excited I’ve been writing all the stuff that you gave of the information of on a paper it really helps me because I know how the betting the size of the enclosure and how the wheel should be I really think your videos and I really like watching them, thank you
@@TheWorld-mr4gw if you put your hamster in water and don't dry them off completely it makes them go in shock and they can die, you only put them in water if your vet tells you to. and the reason why they know how to swim is because they are running away from a predator and need to swim over a small puddle! hope this helped :)

We let our hamsters roam free in my bedroom and my daughters bedroom too. We used to let them roam in the living room but we have an open plan kitchen and both our hamsters climbed up under the plinth and into the area underneath the kitchen cupboards. I had to pull the plinths off to get them out! ( not together!) Happy went in there first and the next day Russell went to the exact same place and did the same! We think she must have told him what to do!
Hamsters are small they can have small cages, That's like saying I'm short off to lived in a shack that can fall over at any moment! No, just umm... No.
I had a hamster called Gus for about 2 years, in a way to small cage. I'm getting another one and I am being forced by my parents to use the same cage, so I decided that when I get my birthday money I am going to spend it on a much larger cage and some more toys/stuff to help her/his nails and teeth. But he had a good life, I would have much preferred a bigger cage for him but we learn from our mistakes
You dont have to spend a lot of money, just get an at least 450 sq inch storage bin, and get wire mesh to put on the top. That will probably be $15 at the most.
Imagine? Nah not even imagine I've seen people actually doing that, get a smol carrier wire cage thingy and let their dog live out the rest of their life in there only coming out sometimes
Well Victoria is the hamster queen so most research is on her channel, but im getting guinea pigs and i still watch her very funny and educational videos
I know how Victoria feels and was in tears too. Also, I have noticed that every reality tv show about animal rescues or vets rarely ever talk about saving or treating hamsters. When I think about the 1000s of pet hamsters being ignored and forced to the bottom of the domestic pecking order it makes my blood boil. We are priviledged to have them in our homes. Equality for hamsters too!
People should study about hamsters more before getting them. Just because you can get them easily doesn't mean that they are easy animals to take care of. They may be small, but the money that goes into them is never small. Same for the amount of attention. We need more people like you! I love the content you are making so so much!

Human logic:
- Hamsters are cute, so it also looks cute when they fight to death.

Thank you!
some people who get hamsters don’t even do research and it’s so sad. they don’t get cages large enough to provide proper care for their hamsters, they keep their hamsters in the same cage, and then they get mad when someone corrects them. their poor hamster is in pain because of them.
if you can’t afford proper care, you shouldn’t have bought a hamster in the first place! i really hate these things of people.
Isabelle Huang sameeeee
It annoys me so much I had to beg for 4 years to get my hammy and in that 4 years I did my research 😊
It makes me mad, people try and make you feel guilty for having good care.
Yes! My friends say I spoil my hamster too much, but that's the point of having a pet. You get a pet to be your companion and to spoil them and give them the best life possible.
I’m giving my hamster an 800sq inch cage and everyone in my family thinks I’m spoiling him and giving him a “mansion”

Putting two Syrian hamsters together is the same equivalent as putting two tarantulas together so they can "bond".
They're given to children who don't properly care for them in tiny wire cages
People should study about hamsters more before getting them. Just because you can get them easily doesn't mean that they are easy animals to take care of.
