I don't want to jinx it but I genuinely feel that this is a game changer for Alfa. The Giulia and the Stelvio did well in terms of where the brand offering was prior to them, and I think the Tonale moves that progress further many more notches. I think it'll get more people open to the brand so that future model rollouts will be even more successful. Alfa is competing with Audi, Merc, BMW but in doing that I think they have to use the strategy that the Koreans used to gradually build brands like Kia and Hyundai
Alfa put the nail in its own coffin when it made the Stelvio. This only buries it... Its just another pointless SUV sold to the idiots that buy them. It does nothing new or interesting for the industry, and commits the badge to competing in a saturated market where there are better brands doing these stupid things better. Alfa never made particularly good quality cars and their customer support has always been horrible. Their only real niche was the sporting heritage and making some of the best driving cars around. Can't leverage that reputation and heritage with a tall floppy heavy SUV - well, not with a straight face anyway. I expect that Stelantis will kill off the badge soon, they'll have to do some serious cutting and rationalisation of their portfolio in order to catch up electric cars - theyre badly behind and any car company that doesn't get on the EV bandwagon quick smart and with very convincing products will be bankrupt soon. Alfa Romeo pinning their hopes on this piss poor effort of an internal combustion SUV is a sad and desperate move.
I think in a mediocre boring segment this stands out from the crowd has passion, flair which sets it apart from it's rivals plus the exclusivity heritage pedigree of the badge definitely beats anything from Asia. I would like to see Lancia make a comeback also with a compact SUV being one of the greatest marques in automotive history!
I still drives my GT Blackline and i still love it. I had no idea what Alfa should next. May i'm getting older, so who knows? May i should give a try to a Tonale? (of course i want to keep my GT too)
The answer is No...it cannot beat the Q3. The chassis is modeled on the Jeep Renegade. Anyone who's driven one knows that's not a fun ride. So no, the Tonale will not outdo the Q3.
@@MarceloLopezJr wut? Not the same suspension, not the same weight distribution, so idk what are you talking about ... With your logic: "Audi TT is based on a Golf, so the TT is must be the same crap as the Seat Leon" - lol
Hi Angelo, the car we were shown here was a Speciale with a hybrid petrol engine. This was a production-accurate prototype, so there may be some minor tweaks to specs in different markets between now and the car's official launch :)
As SUVs go, it's a great looking car - the prettiest in it's class. It has 3 major problems: 1. It's very closely related to a Jeep Compass and they are awful. 2. Alfa's reputation for reliability is poor and it seems impossible to shake off. 3. The dealer network is awful and the dealers do not have a good reputation. There is 1 Alfa dealer between Land's End and Swindon. Unless they sort the dealer situation out, they have no chance. My fear is that sales will bomb, even if the car is fundementaly sound. For example, the Giulia is the best in it's class but the BMW 3 series outsells it 20 to 1.
Love it,the only problem is price and dealership back up this I feel what let's the brand down, they should be looking at the Tonale kickstarting Alfa, imo

The Formentor is another great car, but we chose the Q3 because like that Audi model, this Alfa Romeo is trying to be an all-rounder, rather than a sports-focused car. We'd love to put a Tonale Quadrifoglio up against the Cupra one day...
This is a very important product for ALFA. They are in very serious trouble as they aren't getting much traction in the USA, and the Germans have the northern european market sewn up. It is a very progressive, competent design, and if they can deliver reliability, it might be a big shot in the arm for Alfa. It's going to boil down to their manufacturing quality, as reliability is something that you can't fix easily when it is initially bad, and you are only new once, so if this ships, and there are many recalls and teething problems, it will be curtains for ALFA. The car market is about to get brutal, with the Chinese starting to enter the market with their electric vehicles, and so a mild hybrid like this has to be really solid.

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes instead.

If it out performs an Audi who cares? We all know about the reliability issues Italian cars have. Remember Fiat?? Fix it again Tony. Nice looking, but I’d run from this one.
This is an unfounded stereotype held only in the UK by older people.
