Ordered my formentor 4 months ago, delivery confirmed within the next 3 weeks. Can't bloody wait 😍 everything about this car is just off the chart from the badge to the napa leather to the interior ambient lighting. Roll on delivery day 🙌🙌🙌
I looked at this before I opted for a different vehicle. If you got the Brembo brakes package, a lot of owners have complained about the brakes grinding over time and Cupra won't do anything about it
@@slyarsenal after 14 months our Brembo brake package hasn’t had an issue. I do a mountain run every weekend in the Formentor and they get a solid workout.
Maybe Cupra have fixed this problem from last year. I was close to ordering one last year until I saw quite a few people complaining about the Brembo brakes. How many kms have you done? I think it's an aesthetically beautiful vehicle, but being the first generation it'll have a few bugs which will get ironed out. The infotainment system was disappointing imo and no rocker cover due to it's cheap design which came loose and caught fire in cars with E888 engines. Being a small company trying to break into the Australian market, I just read about so many issues customers had with Cupra regarding getting their cars repaired under warranty.
We've had our VZX Formentor now for 12 months. It is truly a cracking car. Would love to have the Akrapovich exhaust, but $6K would never have got past the treasurer in our house. An aftermarket exhaust which retained the standard exhaust valves, so you could turn it down, or even a simple resonator delete, and straight pipe, for a bit more note, would have to be much cheaper options.
Agree. I've had my VZx with brembos since sept 22. Currently investigating aftermarket exhaust, tuning & mods, although may try and hang off the tune until further into warranty but the std exhaust has to go. The akrapovic exhaust @ $6k does not seem worth it, doesn't sound much different and still too quiet in sports/cupra mode. Have you thought about lowering yours? The only other things that irk a little is the stubby dsg stick and the lack of physical controls ie everything through the screen. I much prefer the old style dsg stick with manual mode, I had a tuned/modded GTI mk 5 for 16 years and mostly drove in manual mode using dsg stick and not the paddles.
@@damo5701 - i'm the same. I do prefer the old DSG shifter and using it in manual mode. I had a tuned Golf R mk 7 and tuned GTI mk 7.5. I did the res delete and straight pipe on the GTI and that made it sound really good. It also had an Oettinger sports muffler on it from the factory. I should have kept that car. It was really good. I haven't looked at lowering the Cupra as i live in semi-rural Tasmania and need the ground clearance.
@@saravanakarthik3043 - i've just had the first 12 months service at Indooroopilly. That was a very good experience. I've had no issues other than a few sensor glitches that cleared themselves and went away on their own. I've had no screen issues.
I rented one while in Salzburg last December and was very pleasantly surprised. For an SUV it handled very well. Steering was communicative and confidence inspiring even in subzero temps and on icy roads, though I’m sure the Michelin winter tyres had something to do with it. Loved the wraparound blind spot warning light system too. You notice it, yet it’s unobtrusive but the lane departure warning and steering tug was annoying. All in all, surprisingly good.
I had a 2023 VZ and the problem is I tested a VZ5. I was hooked. So yes, I traded the VZ in and rationalized that I have to have the VZ5. It is a totally different car. The 5cyl 390hp feels like a 6cyl. 😊
I love the banners with details and prices etc but it would be great if they came up long enough for us to read. Sometimes they’re not even up long enough to pause the video! Otherwise, love your work. Keep it up. And this Formentor is close to perfect now. If only we could get the Audi RS3 engine like left hand drive countries.
Interesting how they charge you extra for the exhaust. They threw it in for free on the Golf R 20 year edition. I would rather get the VZ5 if it ever comes to Australia
It’s the wise and smarter choice getting the CRV. The Honda will essentially be trouble free for a long long time while the VW based Cupra will have those typical VW nightmares built-in

Nice car except for two things. You can't left-foot brake in it (can't on any VW product) and the brakes catch fire if you're too enthusiastic in the hills. Believe me. I've rented every Cupra known to man through Europcar. Would recommend not buying a second hand Cupra ex-rental
Because there is no difference. New badge and power output options that were only available in VW. Skoda Octavia would be a much better car than this if there was 4x4 option with 310BHP.
They are actually 306 bhp standard from factory but in Spain they say 310ps -306hp on the adverts as we own the vz2 310 in 🇬🇧 insurance company’s even have them as 306 bhp
Tom Baker, How come Mercedes Benz able to make 2 Litre 4 Cylinder Engine with 500kW power but other German 🇩🇪 car manufacturers only can do up to 230kW? 🤨🧐🤔
Always great vids never miss one.... BUT not a chance i would ever buy a car from the VW group.. Shocking reliability, shocking resale, never would buy a European car no matter how much money i had... and the exhaust system was a $1000 more than my Honda was to buy.
Was this supposed to come out April 1st? Pay thousands for a crapovic exhaust so you can dial in crackles? Come on, someone’s having a go at us, right?
Another great video. This vs golf r wagon. Both heavily on my radar. The cupra interior feels a little more special. Does anyone know if this gets the ea888.4?
@@kingjulian1549 that surprises me as I was under the impression it didn’t have the continental turbo. Fantastic news that it does and i definitely agree, tuning will be fun on this car.

@@kingjulian1549 that’s seems to be in line with what I’ve read so far regarding the 4th gen. Appears there may be some issues going down the TCU route too. Which I believe you’ll need to go beyond stage 1.
With the 5 year buy in advance service pack that’s almost $80, 000 . Sure it looks nice and sounds cool but 80 grand for what is essentially a jacked up SEAT ? This is way overpriced . I’m not buying one . I’m also not a big fan of the copper accents , I think they look cheap and gaudy .
It's NOT 80k car. Most bought the VZX around circa 65K money. They used to offer 2K bonus, 1% rate and free bonus worths 1K. I couldn't find a better value for money car than this in the market.
