As a British person, it's so weird that they keep using a variety of console ports for things like Codemasters and Bitmap Brothers. A lot of them were ported from the home micros where they looked, played, and sounded best (or at least, that's where they were designed). It's not like a device like this couldn't do accurate emulation of the ST or Amiga.

Jeff Bezos' going to the moon and his 450 million dollar yacht is that for me. If this has rom loader capabilities, I think it's pretty harmless. The scrolling kinda stinks but the video output appears to be excellent in pixel perfect mode.

Little late to the party. But how powerful is the Evercade vs? Not in speccs, that dont say much to me. But will it be able to play Alien vs Predator the arcade game? Or PS1 games if they get the license?
Apparently the developers of the system mentioned if you put certain combinations of two cartridges into the system you will access extra/secret games, no idea what they are though.
I've found two so far. Putting in Atari Collection 1&2 unlocks Dark Chambers for the 7800. Putting in PIKO 1&2 unlocks Pyramids of Ra. Oh, and entering seijiwashere at the secret menu brings up Kubo 1&2.
@@tribemaster101 I'm sitting here next to a 10 TB hard drive full of ROMs. Even still, I've got a VS. Try to explain to your mom how to setup Retroarch. This is much easier.
@@tribemaster101 Then maintain it for them. Then support them when something goes wrong. Then deal with their frustration when windows wants to update randomly. Doing this stuff on a PC isn't simple for everyone. Best to understand that not everyone wants or needs a PC. Even EmuELEC boxes can end up being too complicated when stuff goes wrong. When you have to do tech support for the entirety of your family, you realize that keeping things dead simple for some of them is the right way to go. Hence, stuff like the VS or mini systems work out great for that.
The Data East cartridge stood out to me because of the Dark Seal games and Bad Dudes, but I already have the PC versions of those so they aren't much of a seller to me. The Indie Heroes cartridge seems kind of interesting, but not enough to bring me to buy a console to play it. All in all, it seems the Evercade VS just isn't for me. I love old arcade games, but it needs some more variety and getting some bigger names behind it would help. I know getting big name support would be difficult for a small console, but a lot of classic arcade games were published by big names like Sega, Capcom, SNK, and Namco. Some of them are releasing bundles of old arcade games for various consoles and getting the Evercade VS to be among those could be a big boost to its library. Even getting the Sega Genesis Collection that Sega seems to want on every console would be a huge boost in quality games for the Evercade VS. Getting indie games with an established reputation might also help, maybe they should look at how some indie games are bundled together in the Nintendo eShop for an example on how to do this. Even on a smaller console, many indie publishers would be thrilled for the chance for some of their games to have a physical release.
All these evercades are a novelty that feeds into people's wish to buy physical cartridges. At least they are trying to license games but then they end up with the low hang fruits like all these data east shovelware.
See the button thing kills it for me Joe.. it makes the entire thing not even an option, and why I decided against the handheld with premium bundle. This is so crucial and I don't understand how it's even a problem still, years after Evercade was formed. I think they might not be all there mentally if they just don't get it. Too many games affected for me to ever bother with this.
I have the handheld Evercade already and I've been hesitant to pick this one up because something about buying, essentially, the same system twice didn't sit well with me. I do think it has some good new features, though. I don't know why the handheld couldn't do Pixel Perfect mode, but it looks really good on this device, so that has me interested. I also really like that they're putting out real arcade games now. I don't think there's really ever been a big push to get real arcade roms on consoles physically, aside from sporadic compilations here and there. I'm hoping they can really get some good classics on here.
Had one pre-ordered but decided to cancel. I have a Super Retrocade and have a lot of these titles already. With the button mapping issues and some of the collections not interesting me, I’ll wait a while. It does look like a well made console and is definitely very cool.
Personally I just don't see the appeal of this thing. Maybe in a fictional world where there was no such thing as emulators and Mister etc. If there was absolutely no other way to play these "lost arcade games". But as it stands, there are better solutions with better emulation, button mapping, smoother scrolling, etc that also doesn't require a whole new device + repackaged game collections to play.
The appeal for me is that a lot of Indy games that were made for old school hardware have a modern Physical home. Although I don’t have any of those dinosaur consoles anymore, this is another way to support that development. Yes they are mostly available on steam and Switch, but this is another physical option. This is a niche product, but I get it. I have an Ambernic thing. And that thing is very well made and they pre install most of those games already. And are any of the developers still alive and receiving royalties on these games? So buying 30 year old plus games repackaged does seem unappealing. Especially when they are so readily available and this point is it really stealing?
It's worth mentioning that the Namco Collections are apparently not currently compatible with the Evercade Vs as they were specifically licensed only for handheld use.
That makes no sense. Are you sure?
Both Namco collections, 1 and 2 will give you an incompatible with Evercade VS message on screen. That's with the very latest 2.0.2 update.

@@gaylordfocker7990 and you can add SEGA CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PlayStation 1 and 2, GameCube plus all the old ass games you want!
this is the definition of "too much disposable income"
Yeah, I kind of agree. Part of me thinks it's a really cool console, but fact is, this thing's simply redundant.
Jeff Bezos' going to the moon and his 450 million dollar yacht is that for me. If this has rom loader capabilities, I think it's pretty harmless. The scrolling kinda stinks but the video output appears to be excellent in pixel perfect mode.
Best Evercade console review. Thank you!
Joe should dress up as the cowardly lion from The Wizard Of Oz for Halloween. Totally looks the part....
Never considered one of these systems till now
Bonus Sack is always good
That's what I call it too!
Before watching this, I honestly thought it was going to be Joe vs. The evercade. I didn't know how or why, buti knew I wanted to watch. Turns out it's just part of the console name, still a great episode. Love the end skit as always! And yes, I yelled that.
I really hope this thing ships out next week. I'm looking forward to trying it for myself!
Psycho pinball may be the best pinball game iv ever played. Lotsa of memories with that one.
18:44 There have been mixes and dance tracks put together in the past, but none can outrun or equal the power of Megablast.
Just got the Evercade VS today. It's pretty cool. I like Tumblepop, Wizard Fire, The Combatribes, Sly Spy, but my favorite one by far is Chain Reaction. That game is dangerously addicting.
You would think it would at least let you play the green dog copy… Shame about the controls, that’s a deal breaker in some cases.
Whenever i see a new video pop up it's automaticly an instant watch. Always enjoy watching your videos and honest attitude/opinions on the games & software.
Some those, jitter games are running lower refresh than you tv.just matching fresh gives perfect syn besides your pixels timing some games only work on certain refresh, matching higher refresh would cause jitters or problems.
Ahh very nice. Just made a decaf cup of coffee and packed up a bowl. Very good timing!
what game is being played at 4:20? Is that the music for that game?
Yeap this is the music of the game.
The title is: Tanzer
@@dimitrisgiarikis4007 Thank you good sir.
That ending skit *chef kiss*
Exclamation mark shouting made me laugh my Ass off! Simple people have cheap laughs 😁
Dude how could you not mention how awesome xenon 2's sound track was. I know its just a rip off of assault on precinct 13 but it's pure 90s goodness
I heard no soundtrack or music of any kind.
@@GameSack must be a copyright thing the soundtrack is bomb the bass - megablast and is best heard on the Commodore Amiga.
I'm gonna get one. The price is right and i like cartridge based systems.
Little late to the party.
But how powerful is the Evercade vs? Not in speccs, that dont say much to me.
But will it be able to play Alien vs Predator the arcade game?
Or PS1 games if they get the license?
It can run PlayStation, they have Glover coming out and plan on releasing Atari Jaguar games
@@nightbirdds and putting a rompack in my hdd unlocks all games!! woah!!!
@@tribemaster101 I'm sitting here next to a 10 TB hard drive full of ROMs. Even still, I've got a VS. Try to explain to your mom how to setup Retroarch. This is much easier.
@@nightbirdds set it up yourself?
@@tribemaster101 Then maintain it for them. Then support them when something goes wrong. Then deal with their frustration when windows wants to update randomly. Doing this stuff on a PC isn't simple for everyone. Best to understand that not everyone wants or needs a PC. Even EmuELEC boxes can end up being too complicated when stuff goes wrong. When you have to do tech support for the entirety of your family, you realize that keeping things dead simple for some of them is the right way to go. Hence, stuff like the VS or mini systems work out great for that.
Joe Redifer and Dave White-
You have actually saved my life IRL,
I cant elaborate.
I'd get it for the Indie carts, those are the only ones I'm really interested in
OMG Bad Dudes and Breakthrough both bring back memories lol, shame the latter is choppy. I would like to see Blaster Master.
Didn’t they release an update for the handheld that added the pixel perfect mode to it?
@@allthelonely4287 If so that's cool. I haven't checked for myself, I'm just responding to the part of the video at 1:50
Dat dragon quest 8 file select theme is perfect for any comedic skit.
Same for me. But it's still a quality product with some charme. At least for people who are into physical media and collecting.
Wait no stop motion unboxing? You were the one who spoiled us! 😄
I don't think this thing could be any less appealing.
